Weekend Highlights
During the past weekend, the Brockville Police Service, was very busy. Officers responded to 147 calls for service, and in the meantime, were dealing with the influx of traffic from the 401 closure. News releases often don’t tell the whole story of what police services manage on a day to day basis. The following are highlights from the weekend.

Altercation Involving Weapons
On April 21, 2023 at about 8:00AM, police received a call regarding two males in an altercation in the area of William St. Officers arrived and located the males involved. Investigation revealed that the two males engaged in an argument which became heated. One of the subjects was a 24-year-old male, and during the altercation, brandished a knife toward the other male. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offence of being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Domestic Disturbance
On April 21, 2023 at about 11:00PM, police received a call to attend a residence on St. Andrew St., regarding a domestic dispute. Information was that a male and female couple were engaged in a verbal altercation as they were walking home from dinner. The argument turned physical and the 42-year-old female, assaulted her partner by punching and kicking him. The dispute continued until they arrived at their residence, meanwhile, the physical altercation was ongoing. Investigation determined that the female had assaulted the male. When officers attempted to speak with the male victim, the attempted to prevent police from doing so. She was placed under arrest and held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of assault and obstruct a police officer. The male did not seek medical attention and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Altercation with Youths Leads to Arrest
On April 22, 2023 at about 9:00PM, police received a complaint regarding an altercation that took place on James St., between a group of youths. Investigation revealed that two youths attended to the residence to see if a particular individual was visiting there. They were met at the door by a 16-year-old, male. This male became upset about the visitors attending the residence and proceeded to spray dog repellent at the two visiting youths. They fled and contacted police. Officers arrived and eventually made contact with the 16-year-old subject and placed him under arrest. He was charged with assault with a weapon and released with a future court date. The victims suffered from non-life-threatening injuries.
Disturbance and Weapons
On April 22, 2023 at about 4:00PM, police received a call regarding a suspicious male causing a disturbance in the area of the SuperStore on Parkedale Ave. Officers arrived in the area and located the 24-year-old, male, identified to be the subject. It is to be noted, police had involvement with the male a short time prior, regarding a medical related issue at a different commercial business nearby. Investigation revealed that the male was causing issues with a Brockville City Transit bus, at a stopping location in the area. It was learned that he was threatening to harm multiple people on the bus while yelling and swearing. He was taken into custody and then taken to the hospital for a non-arrest related, medical issue. Later, once medically cleared, he was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of two counts of uttering threats, causing a disturbance, transportation fraud and failing to comply with release order.
