Impaired Driving at High Rates of Speed

On April 22, 2025, at about 8:00pm, police were monitoring traffic speeds in the area of Stewart Blvd., when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. It was determined that the vehicle was travelling 92km/h, which is 42km/h over the posted speed limit.

A motor vehicle stop was initiated and officers identified the driver as a 23-year-old, male. Officers believed that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A breath sample was taken with a roadside screening device and it resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing, which confirmed that the driver was impaired. The vehicle was impounded, drivers licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg, drive motor vehicle perform stunt and fail to surrender insurance. He was released with a future court date.   

Impaired Driving Results in a Motor Vehicle Collision

On April 22, 2025, at about 10:45pm, police received a call regarding a motor vehicle collision where a vehicle struck a parked car on King St. W. Officers attended and determined that no one was injured in the incident.

Investigation revealed that the driver was a 21-year-old, male. When officers spoke to the driver, it was immediately observed that he was impaired by alcohol. The arrest was made and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. It was confirmed that he was about three times over the legal limit. The vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mg and driving while under suspension. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
