Fraud Investigation

On March 2, 2023, Brockville Police Service issued a media release regarding a local Windows/Doors and Renovations Company. Numerous parties made substantial down payments for proposed work that was either partially completed or not completed at all.

On May 1, 2023, Kenneth Spriggs of Custom Windows and Doors and Custom Done Right was arrested and charged with 11 counts of Fraud. He has been released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville at a later date.

The Brockville Police Service would again like to remind the residents of Brockville to remain vigilant when hiring companies they have not previously used. Reputable businesses can often provide references and examples of work previously done. Websites such as the Better Business Bureau are also able to offer valuable insight to prospective customers.

 

Altercation Leads to Charges

On April 27, 2023 at about 10:30PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a disturbance reported at an address on Victoria Ave. Officers responded and investigation revealed that two males were involved in an altercation where few details were provided. The altercation turned physical where some property was broken and one male was assaulted by a 23-year-old, male. The 23-year-old was arrested, charged and held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault and mischief under $5,000.00. The victim received non-life-threatening injuries and medical assistance was not required.

 

Domestic Dispute

On April 28, 2023 at about 4:15PM, police received a complaint from a female being threatened by her 57-year-old, ex-boyfriend. Investigation revealed that there has been a history of death threats made to the victim and threats to damage property. These threats are of significant concern to the victim’s safety. Due to this concern, the male was located and placed under arrest for uttering threats. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.        

 

Disturb the Peace

On April 30, 2023 at about 12:30AM, police received a report of a fight taking place outside a local establishment in the area of King St. W. and Court House Ave. Officers attended and located a disturbance where a 29-year-old and 51-year-old male, were engaged in a fight. The subjects were broken up and both issued Brockville City By-Law charges for participating in a fight.
