Female Arrested for Multiple Thefts from Vehicles

On August, 12, 2025, at about 10:00am, police received a complaint regarding property stolen from multiple vehicles from an address on King Street West. The items were taken over multiple dates and the act was captured on CCTV video. It was determined that the approximate total value of the property taken was $480.00. 

The suspect responsible was identified to be a local, 41-year-old, female. The subject was located on August 12, 2025, at about 2:00pm, and arrested in the area of King Street West. Once arrested, some of the stolen items were located in her possession. As a result, the subject was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.00 and three counts of failing to comply with probation. Due to her being bound by three separate probation orders and multiple past similar offences, the subject was held for a bail hearing.  

Thefts of Purses and Handbags Thwarted

On August 12, 2025, at about 5:30pm, police received a call regarding a male who was attempting to steal purses from unsuspecting victims, at the Superstore on Parkedale Avenue.

Officers arrived and observed the suspect in the area of the store checkout, suspiciously peering down at an elderly female’s walker, attentive to her purse. The suspect was approached by police and he was identified to be a 36-year-old, male from Montreal, travelling to Toronto. Security video was observed and the subject had also been captured searching through senior male’s bag, but no items were taken. These attempt thefts consisted of similarities of suspects travelling and committing multiple thefts and frauds within communities along the Highway 401 corridor.

The subject was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.00 and held in custody for a bail hearing. This is a good reminder to always be aware of your surroundings while in public and to not be complacent with portable personal property; specifically purses, wallets or handbags.
