Horse Drawn Wagon Incident Results in Injuries

On December 12, 2024, at about 1:30pm, police received multiple 911 calls, in regards to a horse drawn wagon, that had gone out of control in the area of Front Ave.

Police responded to the scene and found that there were multiple people injured, along Front Ave. Also, in attendance to assist was the Brockville Fire Department, Leeds & Grenville Paramedics and citizens nearby offering their help. Investigation revealed that a gentleman was offering horse drawn wagon rides, to people in the area of Front Ave. During one of the rides, the horses became agitated, and began to run out of control. The horses and wagon struck a parked vehicle and then continued to run Westbound on Front Ave. Some of the passengers were thrown out of the wagon, to the ground. The horses continued to run towards Stewart Blvd. and then down Eleanor St., into a wooded area. There, the horses became tangled in some trees, allowing control to be gained. The horses were uninjured in this incident. 

In total, there were eight individuals taken to the hospital for varying levels of injuries. All injuries are considered non-life-threatening. The Brockville Police Service is thankful for everyone who came to provide assistance, in this unfortunate incident.      

 

Male Arrested for Break and Enter

On December 12, 2024, at about 10:00pm, police received information that an unknown subject had broken into a residence in multi-unit building, on Victoria Ave. Sounds could be heard of a person inside the unit, making noise.

Officers attended and confirmed hearing the subject talking and causing the noise. Investigation revealed that a 39-year-old, male, who was on probation, had broken into a lockbox and acquired a key for the unit. The subject entered and began collecting items from inside and concealing them in a carry bag. Police made entry into the unit and located the male subject inside. He was placed under arrest, searched and the property being stolen was recovered.

The male was charged with break and enter into a dwelling and fail to comply with his probation conditions. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
