Recent Statistics from the Week of February 22nd – March 1st
The Brockville Police Service continues to be very busy. During the week of February 22nd – March 1st, we experienced 359 calls for service. Out of those incidents, police made 27 arrests and laid a total of 69 Criminal Code and 14 traffic related charges. Many of these incidents involve individuals failing to comply with their bail and probation condition. The following are only a few incidents from this time period.
Arrest made in Relation to Aggravated Assault
On February 26th, 2025, police responded to a residential address in the City’s south end regarding information received about a female with significant injuries to her body. Police located the female, with obvious and substantial injuries. With the assistance of Emergency Medical Services, the female was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation revealed that the victim’s 31-year-old, son was responsible for the injuries. The male was subsequently arrested for aggravated assault and held in custody pending a bail hearing. The accused was remanded into custody and will appear in Court at a future date.
Impaired Driving
People continue to do this, unfortunately, regardless of the public education provided. On February 27, 2025, at about 10:10pm, police received a 911 call regarding a 36-year-old, male driver in the area of William St., who had appeared to be falling asleep behind the wheel at an intersection.
Officers located the male driver in the area and stopped the vehicle. A roadside breath demand was made and the test sample resulted in a fail. The male was placed under arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. There, it was determined that he was driving while impaired. His driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. He was released with a future court date.
Arrest Made After Nude Male Disturbs the Peace
On March 1, 2025, at about 7:00am, police received multiple 911 calls regarding a male who was running in the area of Cedar St., yelling and shouting. It was later determined he had continued running to James St. W., and was in fact nude while attempting to enter peoples’ vehicles.
Officers located the 26-year-old, male and he attempted to flee. Shortly after he was taken into custody. During the arrest, the subject punched an officer in the face. He was charged and held for a bail hearing for offences of indecent act, assault peace officer and causing a disturbance. No one was seriously injured in this incident.
Break and Enter at Shoppers Drug Mart
On March 2, 2025 at about 1:30am, police received an alarm call at Shoppers Drug Mart on Parkedale Ave. Officers responded and found that one of the windows had been smashed.
The area was cleared and the suspects had fled prior to arrival. Investigation revealed that two suspects had used a hammer to gain entry by breaking the window and stole two cabinets filled with high end perfume. The approximate value of the merchandise is $40,000.
