Significant Storm Resulted in Multiple Calls for Service

Throughout the night of June 13-June 14, 2024, there was a windstorm causing various concerns for public safety. There were multiple reports of trees and wires down throughout the City. At 11:00pm, police received a report of a tree branch that had fallen in the area of Waverly Dr. and First Ave., blocking the roadway. Another motorist pulled over in attempts to pull the branch off the roadway. While doing so, in the poor conditions, another vehicle driving in the area did not see the branch or the individuals attempting to move it. That vehicle struck the branch, which in turn, struck one of the individuals moving the branch. This resulted in non-life-threatening injuries however, had high potential for serious injury or worse. The driver of the vehicle was charged with a failing to operate the vehicle according to driver’s licence conditions. This is a good reminder for everyone to be cautious when near the roadway and wear reflective or high visibility clothing in low light, and poor conditions. Further, you can always contact the police to report these instances so roadways can be cleared by the proper agencies, safely.

 

Impaired Driver Involved in Rollover Collision

On June 13, 2024, at about 9:00pm, police received reports of a pickup truck that was involved in a solo, rollover collision, in the area of the 401 and Stewart Blvd. Officers arrived and identified a 28-year-old, male as the driver involved. Paramedics attended the scene to assess the male, however, he was not transported to the hospital. Officers began investigating the driver for impaired operation of the vehicle. The male then failed a roadside screening breath test and was taken into custody for further testing. Later, it was confirmed that he was driving over the legal limit and driving impaired. His vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. He was released with a future court date.

 

Multiple Arrested in Relation to Drug, Weapons and Fraud Investigation

On June 11, 2024, officers from the Brockville Police Service were investigating a group of individuals in relation to drug trafficking. Investigation revealed evidence to support the belief that the officers had. A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle at about 5:00pm in the area of Parkedale Ave. and Stewart Blvd. Four of the vehicle occupants were placed under arrest. The vehicle was searched which resulted in the officers locating a Conducted Energy Weapon (TASER), brass knuckles, a quantity of cocaine, various drug paraphernalia including alcohol swabs and drug cutting agents. It was also determined that some of the subject’s behaviour was in relation to fraudulent activity while selling cell phones. As a result, the vehicle was towed and the following is a list of subjects and their charges.

  • 41-year-old, male held for bail for offences of:
    • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
    • Possession of cocaine
    • Fraud under $5,000.00
    • Fail to comply with Probation Order
    • Five counts of failing to comply with weapons prohibitions
  • 30-year-old, female released on conditions with a court date for the offences of:
    • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon
    • Possession of cocaine
    • Fraud under $5,000.00
  • 28-year-old, male released on conditions with a court date for the offences of:
    • Fraud under $5,000.00
