News Release – March 1 – 3, 2024

Over this past weekend alone, the Brockville Police Service responded to 117 calls for service. While investigating these calls for service, eight arrests were made along with 19 Criminal Code and 13 Highway Traffic Act charges laid. Below are a few of those details. 

 

Impaired Driving

On March 2, 2024, at about 2:15am, officers were on patrol when they observed a vehicle in the area of Stewart Blvd and the Highway 401. The vehicle was stopped and there were several individuals inside. Officers believed that the 19-year-old, male driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside breath sample was taken and it resulted in a fail. The male was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for additional testing. There, it was confirmed that the male was driving while impaired. The vehicle was impounded, drivers licence suspended and he was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mg. He was released with a future court date.

 

Domestic Dispute Leads to Charges

On March 3, 2024, at about 6:30pm, police received a 911 call at a residence on Georgina St. in regards to screaming at the residence. Officers arrived and investigation revealed that a 56-year-old, female and her male partner were in a verbal dispute over the need to repair damages to their vehicle. During the argument, the female punched a television multiple times and then struck it with a hammer. She was placed under arrest and charged with mischief under $5,000.00. She was released on conditions and a future court date.

 

Female Charged with Theft and Mischief

On March 2, 2024, at about 10:00am, police received a call to the Days Inn hotel on Stewart Blvd. regarding a theft and property damage. Investigation revealed that a 26-year-old, female was at the hotel visiting a male who had rented a room. During the time she was there, she stole the males debit card, phone and $500.00 cash. She also cut up the debit card and damaged his cell phone beyond repair. Shortly after, she stole approximately $200.00 worth of groceries from the hotel kitchen. She was placed under arrest and held for a bail hearing for the offences of two counts of theft, three counts of fail to comply with probation and mischief under $5,000.00.

 

Multiple Warrant Executions Over the Weekend

On March 1, 2024, at about 10:15pm – 28-year-old, male arrested on three outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and two counts of fail to comply with probation.

On March 3, 2024, at about 6:00am – 26-year-old, male arrested on three outstanding warrants with charges consisting of three counts of fail to comply with probation, fail to attend for fingerprinting and fail to attend court.

Both males were held in custody for a bail hearing.
