Former Brockville Library CEO Investigated and Charged with Fraud
In June 2025, the Brockville Police Service entered into an investigation into suspected fraudulent financial activity involving the Brockville Public Library. The concerns were initially identified in December 2024 and led to an internal review of the Library’s finances. As a result of that review, police assistance was requested.
The investigation determined that former Brockville Public Library CEO Geraldine Slark was involved in the inappropriate use of a corporate credit card. The card was used for personal expenditures totaling more than $21,000.
On March 30, 2026, Geraldine Slark was charged with fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust. She was released pending a future court appearance date.
Multiple Vehicle Thefts
On March 29, 2025, the Brockville Police Service received two reports of stolen Toyota vehicles. One was a 2024 Toyota Tundra and the second was a 2024 Toyota Highlander, both taken from the driveways of residences in the southwest area of the city.
The Toyota Tundra was recovered in the Kemptville area, by the OPP. A 31-year-old, male was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime. The Toyota Highlander has not been recovered and remains missing. Additionally, to these thefts, there was another report of a possible attempted theft on a separate 2025 Toyota Highlander in the city, within the same timeframe.

Examples are installing cameras, increasing lighting or motion lights and considering using devices like the steering wheel lock bar.
