Subject Arrested After Investigation into Intimate Partner Violence

On May 17, 2025, at about 7:30pm, police received a call to attend a residence on Cartier Court, regarding an assault complaint. It was reported that a couple were involved in a dispute that turned physical.

Investigation revealed that a female and her 44-year-old, boyfriend had been involved in an argument. The male subject had been consuming alcohol and during the escalation of the dispute, he struck the female in the face. This caused non-life-threatening injuries. The subject then fled the area in a vehicle when police were notified however, did return when police arrived. Officers arrested the subject for assault and operation while impaired. He was taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing where it was confirmed that he was driving while impaired. He was held for a bail hearing after being charged with assault and impaired operation.  

Intimate Partner Violence Investigation Leads to an Arrest

On May 17, 2025, at about 8:15pm, police received multiple 911 calls regarding a male and female fighting outside of a residence on Reynolds Drive. A female and her 39-year-old, boyfriend were identified as the ones involved.

Investigation revealed that the male and female were arguing outside, and the female began leaving down the street. This was followed with the male subject chasing her and shoving her to the ground. Bystanders in the area had to physically intervene out of fear for the female’s safety. Both subjects were very emotional and not cooperative with police. The male subject was arrested for the assault on the female and at the same time, the female needed to be restrained and removed from the area as she was attempting to intervene in the arrest. During the arrest the male subject attempted to headbutt one of the officers and resisted the arrest until control was acquired. Any injuries received are considered minor and non-life-threatening.

The male subject was charged with assault, assault a peace officer and fail to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
