Subject Arrested for Shoplifting

On May 26, 2025, at about 1:00pm, police received information regarding a theft in progress at the Real Canadian Superstore on Parkedale Avenue. Officers attended a located the described suspect, who was identified to be a 61-year-old, female.

An arrest was made and the subject had originally provided a false name to police. It was learned that the subject was on probation with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The merchandise was recovered and the total approximate value was $467.00. They were charged with theft under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation. They were released with a future court date.  

Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Injuries

On May 26, 2025, at about 5:00pm, police received reports of a child who had been struck by a vehicle, in the area of Central Avenue and Ormond Street.

Police arrived on scene and discovered that a youth had run out onto the street and collided with a pickup truck travelling legally on the roadway. The street was blocked off to control the scene and protect everyone in the area and Paramedics attended. The child did sustain a non-life-threatening injury; however, the injury was still considered serious in nature and they were taken to the Brockville General Hospital. Investigation revealed that this was an unfortunate set of circumstances of which there was no fault on the driver and no charges issued.

Intimate Partner Violence

On May 25, 2025, at about 1:30pm, police received a call regarding an incident that took place between a couple in the area Bisley Crescent. Information was that a 28-year-old, male attended his ex-partners residence to retrieve belongings. He was unwanted at the residence and while there an argument initiated prompting the police to be notified.

Investigation revealed that during the argument the male subject did strike his ex-girlfriend, knocking her to the floor. The victim received non-life-threatening injuries. After that, he left with some gathered belongings and returned shortly after. He kicked the door causing damage to the door frame. He left the scene prior to police arrival.

Police did locate the male a short time later. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault, unlawfully in a dwelling, mischief under $5,000.00 and two counts of fail to comply with probation.

Impaired Driving Leads to a Collision and Arrest

On May 25, 2025, at about 4:30pm, police responded to the area of Stewart Boulevard and Central Avenue, in regards to motor vehicle collision. Information provided was that one of the drivers was believed to be impaired. The suspect vehicle actually left and was abandoned in a nearby parking lot, with the driver observed walking from the vehicle.

Officers located the driver who was identified to be a 35-year-old, male. Police observed that the male was exhibiting severe signs of impairment and was arrested. He was taken to the Brockville Police Service for testing. This confirmed that he was impaired and that he was operating more than four times over the legal limit. His licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. No one was injured in this incident and he was released once sober with a future court date.
