News Release – November 12 – 19, 2023

During the week of November 12 – 19, 2023, the Brockville Police Service received 309 calls for service. While responding to these calls a total of 36 Criminal Code charges were laid. Officers also continue to focus on road safety which resulted in 26 traffic related charges. The following are only a few of the calls police attended.

 

Impaired Driving

On November 12, 2023, at about 2:30am, police received a call regarding a group of people getting into a van in the area to King St. W. and John St. The vehicle left the area while failing to stop at a flashing red light. Officers located the vehicle in the area of Stewart Blvd. and 401. Officers identified the driver to be a 20-year-old, male. A roadside breath sample was taken which resulted in a fail. The subject was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service further testing, which confirmed the impairment. The vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and subject was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mg. They were released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Domestic Dispute

On November 16, 2023, at about 11:15pm, police received a call regarding a dispute at a residence on Balmoral Pl. Officers arrived and spoke to the individuals involved. A male and female were involved in a dispute that became heated to the point that the 28-year-old, male, shoved the female into the wall. The injuries can be described as minor, non-life-threatening. The male was arrested and charged with domestic related assault. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Bail Violations

On November 17, 2023, at about 3:45pm, police had received information that a 36-year-old, male, was in contravention of his bail conditions. He was on conditions to abstain from communicating with and attending the residence of his ex-girlfriend due to safety concerns. Officers attended the address and located the subject. He was arrested and charged with failing to comply with release order and held for a bail hearing.
