Theft of Tools from Building

On September 23, 2023, police received information about a break and enter to the old Black and Decker building on Central Ave., which, had some property stolen. It was found that the building had been entered overnight on September 22nd, where two air compressors were taken.  Police were involved with a 48-year-old, male, earlier the same night and had information about him that identified him to be a suspect of the incident. Further investigation revealed that the male in question was found to have been in possession of the stolen property from the building. That suspect was located and arrested on the night of September 23rd and charged with possession of stolen property and fail to comply with probation. He was released with a future court date.

 

Male Arrested after Causing a Disturbance and Obstructing Police Performing Duties

On September 24, 2023, at about 9:00am, police were in the area of Bartholomew St., investigating a motor vehicle collision. During the investigation, a 22-year-old, male, who was a family member of individuals involved in the collision, attended the scene. Once he arrived he began walking through the scene of the collision, berating officers, threatening one of the involved drivers and causing issues interfering with traffic control. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, however, the male only became more agitated. Due to the disruption and interference with officers’ duties, the male had to be placed under arrest. He was taken to Brockville Police Service where his behaviour continued. He was held for bail and charged with obstruct police, causing a disturbance, fail to comply with probation and uttering threats to cause harm.    

 

Domestic Disturbance

On September 25, 2023, at about 12:00am, police received a call to attend a residence on Abbott St., in regards to a domestic dispute. Investigation revealed that a 39-year-old, male, was involved in an argument with his girlfriend. The argument escalated and the male had damaged property in the residence, choked her, threw her on the floor and a struck her with a broom stick. The male had fled just prior to police arrival, but officers quickly located the male in a nearby area. He was arrested for assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, overcome resistance by attempting to choke, mischief under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. The female received non-life-threatening injuries.
