Sgt. Harvie Awarded Certificate of Commendation by Governor General of Canada
The Brockville Police Service is proud to report that Sgt. Andrew Harvie has been awarded a certificate of commendation by the Governor General of Canada.
“On behalf of his Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, I am pleased to inform you that a certificate of commendation has been awarded to Sgt. Andrew Harvie in recognition of your actions following an incident in Brockville, on October 15th, 2015.”
Sgt. Harvie without hesitation entered the frigid water of the St Lawrence River moments after a vehicle had submerged at the Home Street Boat ramp. Sgt. Harvie after repeated attempts to open doors and break the side windows of the submerged vehicle successfully broke the rear window and rescued the lone female occupant from the vehicle.

May 23, 2017 Incidents
Domestic Dispute leads to arrest and charge
On the 23rd of May, 2017 a 34 year old woman and resident of Brockville was arrested and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. Police attended to the woman’s residence located in the south end of the city where it was learned that she and her common law partner engaged in an argument. The situation escalated and it is alleged that the woman threw and struck the complainant / victim in the head with an aerosol can causing minor injury. The woman was released with a future court date.
Weapons / Drug charges
On the 23rd of May, 2017 police attended the area of a south end apartment building for reports of someone discharging a BB or Pellet gun at both cars and people. Police could initially hear the shots and eventually observed one of the responsible subjects leaning out of the window with pistol in hand. The man was directed to drop the pistol and complied with police direction. Police proceeded to further investigate the incident and upon entering the apartment observed, in plain view, drug paraphernalia. As a result of the incident, 3 Brockville men (21, 24 and 28 years of age) were charged with various weapons and drug offences under the criminal code. All were released with future court dates.
Victoria Day Weekend Incidents
The Brockville Police Service is pleased to report that during the holiday weekend ranging from Friday evening at 07:00 pm to Tuesday morning at 07:00 am we attended 78 calls for service.
Some of the calls we investigated included more instances of unlocked motor vehicles where the various contents were stolen, such as wallets and purses. Please be sure to keep your vehicles locked and to refrain from leaving important things inside of it. There are individuals who are making their slippery way around your properties in the night.
May 20, 2017 Incidents
Warrants
Early in the morning on the 20th of May a local male known to police was observed as a rear passenger of a motor vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested him on his outstanding warrants. A search of the subject revealed a small quantity of drugs on the subject for which he was also charged for. He was released with a future court date.
Suspicious Person
On Saturday morning police received several calls about a male walking on Parkedale Ave. wearing a spiderman suit with two large swords on his back. Officers quickly tracked down the suspect who was in fact “Deadpool” who was in town attending Comic Con event at the 1000 Islands Mall. Case closed.
