Stolen Vehicle

On July 21st, Police took a complaint of a stolen vehicle from the Garden St. area.

The vehicle was parked overnight in front of a residence.

Stolen was a dark green dodge caravan. It had duct tape near the rear tail lights and a rusted roof. Licence plate #BDHB259 (Ontario)

No keys were left in the vehicle.

Disturb the Peace

On July 20th, Police dispatched to the Holiday Inn convention Center on Kent Blvd. Report of male party who was causing a problem within a function taking place.

The male suspect, 30 yrs. of age, resides east of the city. He was arrested and charged with Breaching his Recognizance and Breaching his Undertaking. These documents were in place in regards to unrelated charges.

Theft from Vehicles

On July 20th, Police dispatched to center area of town in regards to youths going through parked vehicles.

A short distance away, police located three male youth and one female youth. Investigation revealed they were in possession of stolen property from the some of the vehicles. Theft from Vehicle

On July 18th, Police dispatched to an address in the west/center section of town. Resident had caught a subject going through their parked vehicle.

A local 18 yr. old male was arrested/charged with Trespass by Night, Theft and Possession of Break and Enter Tools.

He was released with conditions and given a future court date.

Disturb the Peace

On July 16th, Brockville Police attended a north end apartment complex in regards to a male party drinking, yelling and basically causing a disturbance.

The local male, 27 yrs. of age, was arrested and charged with Breach of conditions of his Recognizance for past charges.

He was held for Bail court yesterday.

Drug Offence

On the 14th of July, 2014 members of the Brockville Police Service investigated a possible drug offence in the south end of the city. As a result of the investigation, an adult male was arrested and charged with possession of marihuana, breaching his undertaking and one count of breaching his probation order.

During the incident an adult male and female attempted to intervene on behalf of the accused. Both subjects were arrested and the male was charged with obstruct police. The adult female became assaultive and was charged with assault police with the intent to resist arrest.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

All subjects were released on Promise to Appears with future court dates.

Disturbance

On the 14th of July, 2014 Police responded to the area of the beer store 125 Stewart Blvd, Brockville for a reported disturbance. Investigation revealed an on-going domestic dispute involving an adult male and female. It is alleged the male assaulted his girlfriend and caused damage to her property and subsequent damage to the vehicle they were travelling in. The female is alleged to have assaulted the male inside the vehicle.

The male was arrested and charged with assault and mischief. The female was arrested and charged with assault.

There were no injuries as a result of this matter. Both subjects will appear in court at a later date.

Domestic Disturbance

On July 16th, Brockville Police attended a domestic in the south/west section of the city.

24 yr.old male in a heated argument with his common law partner. As a result of investigating the complaint, the male party was arrested and charged with Mischief under $5000.00.

Released later in the day on conditions with a future court date.

Suspicious Person

A 24 year old Brockville resident was arrested overnight for Mischief, Forcible Entry, Assaulting a Police Officer, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in relation to an incident at Butlers Crescent. Shortly after 2 a.m. Brockville Police responded to a complaint from a resident in the area that a young intoxicated male was at her door attempting to gain entry by kicking her door in. Police responded and located the accused a short distance away and arrested the male and brought him into custody.

The door of the residence sustained moderate damage, and the resident of the house was not injured.

Police are continuing the investigation at this time.

Warnings to Retail Business owners in the Brockville Area

The Brockville Police Service is starting to receive several complaints again this summer of groups of individual using counterfeit credit cards to purchase large quantities of gift cards at local retail outlets. The scammer attends to businesses who sell gift cards and using fraudulent or stolen credit cards purchase retail and VISA / MasterCard prepaid cards. The transactions often take place on the weekends before the next retail business day on Monday when the store owner learns the card is fraudulent, and the scammer has made off with the gift cards.

Business owners are urged to take the following precautions:

i) Verify the authenticity of the card before completing the transactions.

ii) Notify your supervisor where possible of the transaction.

iii) Ask for Identification from the customer to verify they are the owner of the credit card.
