Saturday, May 10 is your opportunity to quickly and easily dispose of old and unused prescription medications that you may have in your home. The Brockville Police Service will have location available at the Brockville Police Service for residents to drop off medications that they no longer need.

The misuse and abuse of prescription medication has become a public safety issue for communities and police services across the country, who are working together to draw attention to this public safety concern by participating in the Prescription Drug Drop Off Day on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Brockville Police Service will accept unwanted or expired medications to keep them away from individuals for whom they were never intended. The abuse of prescription medications can lead to incidents of overdose and, in some cases, death.

Between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, residents can simply go to any of the designated location and anonymously drop off unwanted drugs. Police and medical officials urge you to do your part to combat this serious public health threat.

Prescription Drug Drop Off Day is a one-day initiative supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), Partnership for a Drug Free Canada, and Public Safety Canada. Residents are further reminded that they can return any unwanted or outdated prescription medications to their local pharmacy for safe and secure disposal at any time.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on April 29, 2014 a car bumped into another car in the Parkedale Avenue Tim Hortons drive thru. The male drivers experienced some road rage, yelling at each other after the victim driver confronted the other as to why he drove into his car. Shortly afterwards the two cars met again in a nearby lot. The victim driver was confronted by a female passenger from the other car. She pushed the victim several times and punched him in the nose. They then left the scene.
The 19 year old Brockville female was later located and arrested by Brockville Police.

She has been charged with assault and is to appear in court on May 30, 2014.

26th – 1229 hrs. – On April 26th, a report of a disturbance in the parking lot of Quickie store on Central Ave. Two male parties, 23 and 20 yrs. of age charged under fighting by-law and issued fines.

On April 27, 2014 at 12:37 a.m. Brockville Police attended a Laurier Boulevard residence to investigate a complaint of a domestic dispute. The male occupant of the home had become upset over comments his wife had made regarding their marriage. He smashed the rear door of the residence, did damage to a gazebo and pushed the barbecue off the deck. It was at that time a 911 call was made. Upon police arrival the male subject was armed with a crowbar. Police were able to relieve him of his weapon. The 52 year old Brockville man was arrested and charged for mischief and weapons dangerous. He will appear in Brockville bail court on April 28, 2014

Brockville Police received a 911 call at a Salisbury Avenue residence on April 20, 2014 at approximately 5:12 a.m. Police learned that the male occupant of the residence had just arrived home with a couple of friends all of whom had been drinking. In the presence of his friends the male subject grabbed a female by the neck and broke her necklace. She is also a resident of that address. The friends left at that time, however the assaultive behavior continued. The male subject pushed the female several times and smashed her head on a shelf. He also smashed a frame over his knee. The female was then able to make the 911 call. Police arrested the 35 year old Brockville man who was still at the residence upon their arrival. The suspect has been charged with assault and mischief and held for bail court on Tuesday April 22, 2014

The Brockville Police Service has received several complaints from women in the Brockville area who have been contacted by an adult male over Facebook on the pretext of selling something and then insisting on being added as a friend to further see their messages. The male subject then attempts to meet with the female in an arranged upon location or makes completely inappropriate comments to them over Facebook.

The Brockville Police Service reminds the community to practice internet safety. Please do not add persons as friends on Facebook unless you are completely comfortable with that individual. Keep in mind when you add someone as a friend on Facebook you potential make your friends profiles available as well. Please double check your security settings on Facebook and add the person to your blocked list if you feel uncomfortable.
