News Release June 27 – 29, 2023

Shoplifting

On June 16, 2023 at about 6:30PM, police received a report of a theft that had taken place at the Sensual Boutique store, located on King St. W. Investigation revealed that approximately $800.00 worth of merchandise was taken from the store. The suspect was identified to be a 68-year-old, male. On June 27, 2023 at about 9:15PM, the male subject in question was located and arrested. He was charged with theft under $5,000.00 and released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Intoxicated Person Arrested During a Disturbance

On June 27, 2023 at about 9:30PM, police received a call of a disturbance in the area of James St. E. and Victoria Ave. Police arrived and found two males in a heated argument as they were yelling and swearing at one another. One of the males was identified to be a 22-year-old, male. He was intoxicated by alcohol and began to make threatening comments. As he grew more agitated, he was placed under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place. His antics of yelling and shouting continued throughout most of the night, while in police custody. He was held in custody until sober and released after being charged with public intoxication.

 

Threats and Weapon Possession

On June 29, 2023 at about 12:30AM, police received a call of a male in the area of Court House Ave., trying to enter a vehicle and brandishing a knife to people. Police arrived on scene and located and arrested a 36-year-old, male, responsible for the incident. Investigation revealed that the subject had approached a male with a few friends in that area. The subject requested to look inside the victim’s vehicle and wanted to get inside. The owner did not allow the subject to get in the vehicle and asked him to leave. The subject then brandished a knife to the group. The subject was pushed back and the victims kept their distance to stay safe. The victims were chased and threatened to be killed. The group was able to get in the vehicle and away to safety where they notified police. As previously stated, the male subject had been taken into custody. After his arrest a quantity of crystal meth was also located in his possession. The male subject was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, uttering threats and two counts fail to comply with probation.  

 

Bail Violations

On June 29, 2023 at about 00:15, an officer from the Brockville Police Service located a 42-year-old, male, in the area of Pearl St. W. The male was found to be on undertaking conditions with a curfew; to be in his residence between the hours of 11:00PM and 6:00AM. When the officer approached him the male fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the male was arrested. This male is known to have a violent past and was held in custody for a bail hearing and charged with fail to comply with undertaking, breach of recognizance, and three counts of fail to comply with probation. 

 

Break and Enter Suspect Arrested After Locating a Stolen Vehicle

On June 29, 2023 at about 9:00PM, police learned of a break and enter that occurred at a Winmar, located on California Ave. There was property taken and a vehicle stolen from the business as well. Information was received that indicated the stolen vehicle was at an address on County Rd. 27. Officers attended the address and located the vehicle in question. When officers arrived, the driver reversed the vehicle causing it to collide with the police cruiser causing minor damage. The suspect then fled the scene. The OPP were notified of the incident and provided assistance. The vehicle was located, abandoned, a short distance later. As police continued to search, an officer from the OPP located the 34-year-old, male, subject. Further investigation linked him to the break and enter previously mentioned. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of two counts of break and enter, theft of motor vehicle, flight from police, mischief, two counts of fail to comply with probation, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and theft under $5,000.00.      

News Release June 24 – 27, 2023

Warrant Execution

On June 27, 2023 the Brockville Police Service assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit and OPP led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team East Region, executed a search warrant in the south end of the City. A 24-year-old, Caledon Ontario man, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with a conditional sentence order. Police seize a quantity of cocaine, currency and a 2018 Sport Utility Vehicle. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing .

 

Domestic Dispute

On June 24, 2023 at about 1:00PM, police received a complaint of ongoing issues surrounding domestic violence concerns. It was discovered that a 31-year-old, male, had been repeatedly attempting to contact his ex-girlfriend. Investigation revealed that the male had attended the victim’s residence on multiple previous occasions and he had also been warned for unwanted contact. It was learned that on the previous day, June 23, 2023, the male had attended the victim’s residence and after refusing to leave, a physical altercation occurred. During the altercation, the female was grabbed which left bruising and clothing was damaged. The male in question was located, arrested and charged with assault, mischief, uttering threats and criminal harassment. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Bail Violation

On June 24, 2023 at about 8:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information from the Canada Border Service Agency, Lansdowne, regarding a 21-year-old, male, in their custody. The male had a warrant for his arrest, held by the Brockville Police, as a result of an investigation from November, 2022. In that investigation he was charged with failing to comply with non-communication conditions. The male was turned over to the police where he was held in custody for a bail hearing for fail to comply with release order and failing to comply with recognizance.      

 

Request Assistance – Altercation at the YMCA

Altercation at the YMCA

The Brockville Police are requesting the public’s assistance in relation to an incident that occurred on the 16th of June 2023 at approximately 9pm during Teen Night at the YMCA. 

Several youth were involved in a physical altercation, and as a result two youth have been treated for minor injuries.

News Release June 14 – 15, 2023

Multiple Arrest Warrants Executed

On June 14, 2023 at about 8:15PM, police located a 38-year-old, male, known to be wanted on multiple arrest warrants. The warrants were in relation to multiple charges including three counts of break and enter, possession of stolen property, disguise with intent, two counts of mischief under $5,000.00 and two counts of failing to comply with probation. When the male was searched after his arrest, officers located a large quantity of break and enter tools. He was additionally charged with being in possession of those. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.    

 

Altercation Leads to Charges

On June 14, 2023 at about 9:00PM, police received a report of an altercation that had taken place at Walmart on Parkedale Ave. Investigation revealed that a 57-year-old, male, had confronted another male in the area, in relation to a personal conflict. During the confrontation, the male subject shoved the victim forcefully and threatened his life. Shortly after, the male subject was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Neighbour Dispute Leads to Charges

On June 15, 2023 at about 3:00PM, police received a call in relation to a neighbour dispute in the area of Pearl St. W. Investigation revealed that a 41-year-old, female, was out front of the residence in an irate state. When the caller from the neighbouring residence went to check on the situation, the female in question spit in their face and threw a screwdriver at them. Officers arrived and located the female subject shortly after. She was arrested for assault with a weapon. Later, she was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Impaired Driving

On June 15, 2023 at about 11:00PM, police received a call in regards to a grey vehicle in the ditch along Waverly Dr. Officers attended and located the vehicle with the 57-year-old, female driver, still inside. Paramedics were notified to attend the scene. The female was not taken to hospital. Officers had a conversation with female and noticed that she was under the influence of alcohol and believed to be impaired. She was placed under arrest and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. There, she provided breath samples which confirmed that she was impaired. The vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired and operation with blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.

 

News Release – June 11 – 13, 2023

Warrant Executed for Assault Bodily Harm

On June 13, 2023 at about 9:00AM, an officer from the Brockville Police located a female, known to be wanted for assault cause bodily harm. She was located in the area of King St. W. and Court House Ave. The warrant was as a result of a physical altercation that took place on May 5, 2023, where the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was placed under arrest and later released on conditions with a future court date.

 

Family Dispute Leads to Assault and Threat Charges

On June 12, 2023 at about Noon, police received a call to attend a residence on First Ave., regarding a family dispute. Information was that a 19-year-old, male, had threatened to harm his mother and assaulted her while taking her cell phone and smashing it. Police arrived and diffused the situation. It police confirmed what had taken place and the male was placed under arrest for assault and mischief under $5,000.00. He was later released on conditions and a future court date.

 

Impaired Driving

On June 11, 2023 at about 3:30AM, police received a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Windsor Dr. At that same time, police already had the vehicle pulled over on Parkedale Ave. Multiple people were in the vehicle and the driver was identified to be a 19-year-old, female. A roadside screening breath sample was taken, which, resulted in a fail. She was placed under arrest and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. Those tests confirmed that she was operating her vehicle while impaired. She was later released after her driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and charged with operation while impaired and operation with blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.  

 

Traffic Stop Leads to Various Charges

 

On June 8, 2023 at about 10:00PM, police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Centennial Rd. for a traffic violation. A 31-year-old, male, was identified to be the driver. It was discovered that the driver was operating the vehicle with open alcohol. A roadside screening breath sample was taken, which, resulted in an Alert. Alert indicates a driver’s blood alcohol level results in a three day driver’s licence suspension. Further investigation revealed that he was also currently prohibited from driving. He was placed under arrest and his vehicle was impounded for 45 days. He was later released with a future court date for the offences of operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, drive motor vehicle with open liquor and three other Highway Traffic Act offences.

News Release May 30 – June 1, 2023

Two Separate Impaired Driving Arrests

On May 30, 2023 at about 4:00PM, police received a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Parkedale Ave. and Ormond St. Officers attended and learned that a pedestrian was struck while in the crosswalk by a 75-year-old, male, operating his vehicle. The pedestrian was not seriously injured and did not require medical attention. While officers spoke to the driver of the vehicle, it was revealed that he had been consuming alcohol. A roadside breath sample was taken and that test resulted in a fail. He then was placed under arrest and transported to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. There, it was confirmed that he was operating while impaired. He was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mg. His driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and he was released with conditions and a future court date.

Later at about 7:30PM, police received a complaint about a 16-year-old, male, operating a U-Haul truck and possibly impaired, in the downtown area. Officers attended and located the suspect vehicle in question. The vehicle was travelling in the area of King St. W. near John St., when the driver exited the vehicle and fled by foot through the Sheridan Mews tunnel. Officers gave chase and closed in on the area. Shortly after, the male was located and arrested. The subject was taken for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert, where it was confirmed that the driver was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. He was later released with a future court date and charged with operation while impaired by drugs and multiple other Highway Traffic Act offences including driving without a licence.    

 

Domestic Related Assault

On June 1, 2023 at about 2:00AM, police received a call regarding a male and female involved in a dispute in the area of King St. E. Police attended the area and located the male and female matching the description. Investigation revealed that the 25-year-old, male, had thrown a skateboard at the female and forcefully removed a backpack from her. The situation escalated to both becoming physical with one another. The male was arrested for assault due to initial act in the altercation, with throwing the skateboard at the female. Upon searching the male, firearm ammunition was found in his possession. Police also learned that the male was currently on probation and also on an order prohibiting him from possessing ammunition. He was later released on conditions and a future court date after being charged with the offences of assault, fail to comply with probation and possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order.  

News Release May 26 – 29, 2023

Arrest Made for Multiple Bail Violations

On May 28, 2023 at about 1:00PM, a 38-year-old, male, was spoken to at the Brockville Police Service, regarding a separate complaint. While speaking with him, it was also known that he was also being investigated for two separate incidents of failing to comply with his release order conditions. The conditions he was to abide by was a daily curfew and not communicate with or attend to the residence of other people involved in past occurrences. He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing on two counts of fail to comply with release order.

 

Break and Enter Suspect Arrested

On May 28, 2023 at about 10:00PM, police received a call to a residence on King St. W., regarding a home owner finding a male in their residence. Investigation revealed that the complainant had been out earlier in the day and returned home to find a 21-year-old, male, in his residence. The male subject is known to the complainant and he was asked to leave, which he did. The complainant then left his residence for a few hours and when he returned, he found the male subject was back inside his residence. Words were exchanged and the male fled just prior to police arrival. Officers attended quickly and located the subject in the area and placed him under arrest. He was found to be in possession of multiple property items from the residence. These items were recovered and returned to the complainant. The male subject was charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property and fail to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing.

 

Break and Enter

On May 26, 2023 at about 8:00AM, police received a call to attend a residence in the area of Balmoral Pl., regarding a break and enter. Police attended and investigation revealed that the complainant was sleeping the night previous and had woken to a male coming into her residence through a window that was left partially open at about 11:30PM. The complainant recognized the individual to be a 36-year-old, male. The male claimed to be there to visit her daughter, however, he is currently bound by probation conditions to abstain communication with nor attend her residence. Later that day, officers located the male and placed him under arrest. He was held in custody for a bail hearing after being charged with break and enter and two counts of fail to comply with probation.

 

Outstanding Warrants Executed

Over the weekend between May 27 and May 29, 2023, the Brockville Police Service located and arrested three separate individuals with outstanding warrants. They are the following:

34-year-old, female, arrested for failing to attend court on previous matters. She was held for a bail hearing.

21-year-old, male, arrested for failing to comply with release order condition to attend meetings for bail supervision. He was held for a bail hearing.

42-year-old, female, arrested for failing to attend court on previous matters. She was held for a bail hearing.

 

News Release May 23 – 24, 2023

Probation Violation Results in Charges

On May 23, 2023 at about 2:15PM, police received a call regarding a 30-year-old, male, breaching his probation conditions. The subject in question was on two different probation orders with a conditions to abstain from communication with or be within 100m of the victim’s residence or place of employment. Investigation revealed that the male had attended to the victim’s place of employment and attempted to communicate with them, in the area of Perth St. On May 25, 2023 around 11:00AM, police located the subject in the area of Stewart Blvd. near Central Ave. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing on two counts of failing to comply with probation.

 

Outstanding Warrant Executed

On May 23, 2023 at about 2:30PM, police located a 39-year-old, male, in the area of Park St., known to be wanted. The subject was wanted for offences dating back to early April, 2023 of assault and failing to register their address in accordance with conditions. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.    

 

Female Arrested for Assaulting a Family Member

On May 24, 2023 at about 11:00AM, police received information regarding a 33-year-old, female, who had assaulted her mother. Investigation revealed that the subject was travelling in a vehicle while her mother was driving. The subject became agitated and struck her mother in the head. The vehicle was pulled over as safely as possible and the subject left the vehicle. A short time later that day, officers located the female and placed her under arrest. It was also learned that the subject was on a conditional sentence order. She was charged with assault and held in custody for a bail hearing.

News Release May 20 – 23, 2023

Disturbance Leads to Charges and Discovery of Impaired Driving

On May 20, 2023 at about 5:00PM, police received a call of two males fighting in the area of Brock St. Investigation revealed that two, 36-year-old, males, began fighting while inside a vehicle. The males exited the vehicle and the fight continued in the street. Police arrived and discovered that one of the males had been operating the vehicle and is impaired by alcohol. Both males were arrested and no one was seriously injured. As a result, one male was charged with assault and fail to comply with release order. The second male was charged with assault, fail to comply with release order, fail to comply with probation, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation while over 80mg. They were held for bail hearings.

 

Disturbance Leads to Charges

On May 21, 2023 at about 9:00PM, police received a call regarding a dispute involving a group of young people, in the area of Bartholomew St. Officers arrived and learned that a 19-year-old, male, had assaulted a younger female by striking her in the eye. The injuries are not serious in nature and are considered non-life-threatening. The male was arrested and charged with assault and later released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Impaired Driving

On May 23, 2023 at about 12:30AM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service observed a 26-year-old, male, asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area of King St. W and Perth St. Investigation revealed that the male was impaired by drugs and drug paraphernalia was observed in the vehicle. The male was arrested for impaired operation and was submitted to the applicable examination by a Drug Recognition Expert. This examination confirmed that the male was impaired. He was charged with impaired operation by drugs and his vehicle was towed. Later, he was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Disturbance Leads to Arrest

On May 21, 2023 at about 6:45PM, police received multiple calls of a male swinging a piece of lumber around, in the area of the Brockville Public Library on Buell St. Officers attended quickly and identified a 19-year-old, male, as the one responsible. This male was in possession of a large quantity of property that he carries around in a large cart. This cart was pushed over, which, is what caused the male to become upset and grab the piece of lumber. He was arrested and charged with fail to comply with youth sentence, causing a disturbance and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
