May 23 – 26, 2022 News Release

Mischief and Assaulting Police

On May 23, 2022 at about 9:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received multiple complaints of a male attempting to strike and jump on moving vehicles in the area of Parkedale Ave. and California Ave. Officers attended the area and located the 29-year-old male who was causing this disturbance. When officers approached him, he was not co-operative with police. It was believed he was suffering from a medical emergency suspected to be caused by substance consumption. As police attempted to arrest the male for causing damage to a vehicle, he became combative and during the struggle, kicked one of the officers in the mouth. He was taken control of and eventually taken to the hospital due to his physical state. Once he was released by the hospital, he was charged with the offences of mischief under $5,000.00, assaulting a peace officer and 2 counts of fail to comply with probation. He was given documents with a future court date. The officers did not suffer any lasting injuries.

 

Domestic Dispute

On May 25, 2022 at about 3:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding threats of harm to another, in the Glengarry Rd. area. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to a male who advised that he and his 30-year-old girlfriend, had recently broken up. They were at the residence together when tensions were rising. At one point the 30-year-old female, grabbed a knife and held it towards the male. She had also made comments that she was going to kill him. Officers arrested the female and charged her with assault with a weapon and uttering threats. Once a safety plan was in place, she was released with conditions and a future court date. 

 

Warrant

On May 23, 2022 at about 10:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located and arrested a 33-year-old female who was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant. The warrant was for failing to attend court. She was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Further;

On May 24, 2022 at about 9:00AM, a 25-year-old male had turned himself into the Brockville Police Service as he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was in relation to an investigation of an unwanted person, which took place on May 14, 2022. This resulted in him being charged with unlawfully in a dwelling, fail to comply with probation and two counts of fail to comply with release order. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

Further;

On May 25, 2022 at about 7:00AM, a 57-year-old male turned himself into the Brockville Police Service as he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. It was a bench warrant for fail to attend court. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.   

 

May 20 – 24, 2022 News Release

Unwanted Person

On May 20, 2022 at about 2:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about an unwanted person on Ferguson Dr. A 20-year-old male was a guest, visiting at a residence where he became no longer welcome. As he was outside the residence, he struck the homeowner’s vehicle causing damage. When police arrived, he was not initially listening to demands. He was taken control of and arrested without any injuries. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of mischief under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation.

 

Domestic Dispute

On May 20, 2022 at about 6:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a domestic dispute on King St. W. The information was that a 22-year-old male was residing with his girlfriend at her families apartment. An altercation erupted between the male and his girlfriend. The male choked his girlfriend and was kicked out of the residence shortly after. The male then made entry back into the residence by causing damage to the door and damaged items inside. He then fled on foot prior to police arrival. Officers attended the area and located the male in the area of Beecher St. He was arrested and held in custody for the offences of assault and mischief. The injuries to the female are described as non-life-threatening.

 

Theft

On May 20, 2022 at about 8:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a theft from a residence on Brock St. Neighbours in the area to the victim’s residence, observed a 35-year-old male, walk onto the property and take something from the front yard. The residences garage door was open and it was unsure if the male had entered. Officers attended the area and located the male. He was in possession of items that were taken from a children’s play table in the front yard. He was arrested, charged with theft under $5,000.00 and released with a court date. 

 

Domestic Dispute

On May 22, 2022 at about 5:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a domestic dispute on Pearl St. W. A couple were arguing at the residence and the male went out to the porch during it. As the male was still frustrated, he began damaging items on the porch including the door. Police arrived and arrested the male. The 32-year-old male was charged with mischief under $5,000.00. He was later released with a future court date. 

 

Domestic Dispute

On May 23, 2022 at about 2:15AM, the Brockville Police Service received information about a domestic dispute on Pine St. Officers arrived and found that a 42-year-old male was visiting his girlfriends residence and he had assaulted her during an argument. Injuries are described as minor or non-life-threatening. The male was arrested and charged with assault. He was later released with a new court date.

May 18 – 19, 2022 News Release

Warrants

On May 18, 2022 at about 4:00PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 32-year-old female in the area of Stewart Blvd. and Parkedale Ave., who was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was a bench warrant for failing to attend court on charges that were issued by the OPP. The female was arrested and turned over to the OPP.

Further;

On May 18, 2022 at about 11:30PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 48-year-old male in the area of Central Ave., who was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was a bench warrant for failing to attend court on charges that were issued by the OPP. The male was arrested and turned over to the OPP.

Further;

On May 19, 2022 at about 3:00PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 31-year-old male, who was wanted on Stewart Blvd. It was learned that there was a warrant for his arrest as a result of a sexual assault investigation. The investigation was initiated last Fall in 2021. The male was arrested and held for a bail hearing on various charges including sexual assault, sexual interference, criminal harassment and fail to comply with probation. There is no safety concern for the community and due to the sensitivity of this investigation, no further information will be released at this time.  

May 14 – 17, 2022 News Release

Bail Violation

On May 14, 2022 at about 7:00PM, the Brockville Police Service attended to a residence on Kensington Pkwy to check on the well-being of a 24-year-old female. Officers did check on the female and advice was provided. It had been determined however, that the female had been in breach of her release order bail condition of house arrest. She was arrested and held for a bail hearing for failing to comply with release order.

 

Break and Enter

On May 17, 2022 at about 3:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about an unwanted person found in a residence on Cuthbertson Ave. Investigation revealed that a resident of the address came home to find an unknown and uninvited person sleeping in a bed. Police attended to the bedroom and discovered a 44-year-old female, asleep, who appeared to be under the influence of substances. It was also found that the female had gone through cupboards in search of food. The female was arrested for break and enter and fail to comply with probation. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Bail Violation

On May 17, 2022 at about 3:15PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 27-year-old male in the area of Parkedale Ave. and Crocker Cr. The male was found to be on a release order with a condition of house arrest. He was placed under arrest for failing to comply with his release order and held in custody for bail hearing.

 

Warrants

On May 14, 2022 at about 8:30AM, a 26-year-old male, turned himself into the Brockville Police Service as he had knowledge of an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was a bench warrant for failing to attend court. He was later released on an undertaking with a new court date.

 

 

Police Week – May 15 – 21, 2022

The Brockville Police Service is joining police services across Ontario in kicking off Police Week (#PoliceWeekON), which celebrates the work front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all members of Ontario police services do to keep Ontarians safe and healthy.

This year, Police Week runs from May 15 to 21, 2022. The theme for the week is Your Police Services: Helping Build Safer Communities, highlights and celebrates the important role our police officers and personnel play in helping Ontarians build and maintain healthy and safe communities across our Province.

“Police Week was first observed in 1970 and coincides with the Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally on May 15. This year, we honour and celebrate our police officers and personnel for the extraordinary work they do every day.” Said Staff Sergeant Darryl Boyd.

Throughout this week, the Brockville Police Service will be highlighting the many ways in which our members continue to serve our community.

The annual Police Week in Ontario is sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General. It is part of the National Police Week led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.

 

May 12 – 16, 2022 News Release

Motor Vehicle Collision

On May 16, 2022 at about 10:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received information in regards to a vehicle striking the business store front of W.C. Burgess Insurance on Central Ave. Officers arrived on scene to find the vehicle had gone through the front window area of the building and was partially inside the lobby area of the business. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. It was found that the owner of the vehicle had attended for some assistance from another neighbouring business of the insurance company. One of the employee’s from that business had to attend to the vehicle to assist them with a task. As a result, this employee was unfamiliar with the customers vehicle, as it had a manual transmission. When the car was started, the unfamiliarity and accidental action caused the vehicle to advance forward into the store front. Impairment was not a factor in this collision. No charges are being laid as a result of the investigation.   

 

Domestic Disturbance

On May 12, 2022 at about 6:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call of a female yelling for help at a residence on Kensington Pkwy. Officers arrived and investigation revealed that a 44-year-old male had assaulted a female and physically prevented her from leaving the apartment. The injuries are described as non-life-threatening. The male was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault, forcible confinement and failing to comply with his conditional sentence order.

 

Graffiti Mischief

On May 12, 2022 at about 7:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding four youths spray painting graffiti on CN Rail property near Bartholomew St. Investigation lead police to identify four youths involved in causing this damage. There has been a significant increase in graffiti over the recent months. It is not suggested that these youths are responsible for other incidents; however, police are taking these offences seriously due to many complaints from the community. All four youths were charged by police for mischief under $5,000.00 and returned to their parents.   

 

Bail Violation

On May 13, 2022 at about 1:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received information in regards to a 25-year-old male, in the area of Orchard St., not abiding by his bail conditions. The investigation revealed that the male was on a release order and a probation order, both with a condition to abstain from communicating with a particular female. The two individuals being referenced were observed walking together. Officers located both parties and the male was placed under arrest. The male was charged with fail to comply with release order and fail to comply with probation. He was also held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Warrants

On May 13, 2022 at about 4:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of a 29-year-old male, who was wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with his release order. He was located by police and arrested in the area of Stewart Blvd. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.   

Further;

On May 13, 2022 at about 6:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of a suspicious person on the Brock Trail in the area of Oak St. Officers attended and located a 30-year-old male, who was found to be wanted on a bench warrant for fail to attend court. He was arrested on the warrant. A search of the male discovered that he was in possession of a small quantity of fentanyl. He was held for a bail hearing due to the warrant and additionally charged with possession of fentanyl.

 

May 9 – 11, 2022 News Release

Drug Possession

On May 9, 2022 at about 1:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service performed a traffic stop on Stewart Blvd. Officers observed a quantity of cannabis, which was easily accessible to the driver. Further investigation revealed that the 59-year-old male driver was also in possession of a small quantity of crystal meth. The male was arrested and charged with possession of crystal meth, drive vehicle with cannabis readily available under the Cannabis Control Act and drive motor vehicle with the plate improperly displayed under the Highway Traffic Act. He was released with documents and a future court date. 

 

Shoplifting

On May 9, 2022 at about 4:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call regarding a youth who was in custody for shoplifting at the Real Canadian SuperStore on Parkedale Ave. It was discovered that the youth had attempted to steal approximately $30.00 worth of food and clothing items. Further investigation revealed that they were also in possession of multiple hunting knives, that had been stolen from Canadian Tire. The knives had an approximate total value of $1,000.00. The items were recovered and the youth was released to a parent after being charged with theft under $5,000.00.

 

Impaired Driving

On May 10, 2022 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a traffic complaint of a black coloured Chrysler 300, in the area of Laurier Blvd and Stewart Blvd. It was described as being operated on the wrong side of the road and running red lights. Officers did search and later located the vehicle in the area of Cartier Crt. It was also found to have been driving on a flat tire. Investigation revealed that the driver was a 45-year-old female, who was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested and taken for breath sample testing. It was determined that she was operating the vehicle at about two times the legal limit of alcohol in her blood. Her licence was suspended for 90 days, the vehicle was towed and impounded, and she was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while blood alcohol concentration is over 80mg.       

 

Domestic Dispute

On May 11, 2022 at about 9:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received a report of a domestic related assault that had taken place. A female had reported being struck in the head by her 53-year-old husband. The injuries are described as non-life-threatening. Investigation confirmed that an assault had taken place. The couple involved does reside the area of Kensington Pkwy. Officers attended the residence with the victim and located the male involved in that area. He was arrested for assault and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Stunt Driving

On May 11, 2022 at about 11:30PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service made a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling on Stewart Blvd. The stop was conducted as the officer discovered the vehicle travelling at 91km/h, which is 41 km/h over the speed limit in that area. The driver was identified to be a 27-year-old male. As a result of the dangerous excessive speeds, the male was charged with stunt driving, the vehicle was towed and impounded, and his driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.   

 

Warrants

On May 9, 2022 at about 2:30PM, the Brockville Police Service located and arrested a 45-year-old female, on an outstanding probation warrant. She was located in the area of the Super 8 on Highway 2 just East of Brockville. She was released with a new court date for the offence of fail to comply with probation.

Further;

On May 10, 2022 at about 10:00AM, the Brockville Police Service located and arrested a 46-year-old male on an outstanding arrest warrant in the area of King St W. He was wanted on a charge of failing to comply with his undertaking conditions as he was on release conditions to abstain from attending to an address on King St. W., which he had ignored. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Further;

On May 11, 2022 at about 10:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located and arrested a 31-year-old female who was wanted for failing to comply with release order. She had failed to sign in at the police station on a previous date, as per her release order bail conditions. After she was arrested, she was charged and released with a new court date.

May 6 – 9, 2022 News Release

Motor Vehicle Collision

On May 9, 2022 at about 2:45PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of a collision that took place at the intersection of Stewart Blvd. and Jefferson Dr. There were two vehicles involved, one of which, was turned up on its side. Four of the individuals involved were taken to the Brockville General Hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, any injuries are being described as minor or non-life-threatening. One of the drivers has been charged with failing to stop at a red light.   

 

Warrants

On May 6, 2022 at about 10:00AM, a 22-year-old male turned himself in on an outstanding warrant in relation to a breaching his release order bail conditions. As part of his conditions, he was to sign in at the Police Station on specific dates which, he fail to comply with. He was arrested for failing to comply with release order and held for bail.

Further;

On May 7, 2022 at about 4:00PM in the area of King ST. W., officers from the Brockville Police Service located a 27-year-old male known to be wanted for a charge of failing to comply with release order. The male fled on foot causing a foot pursuit. Officers located the male in the nearby area and arrested him. As a result, he was searched and located in his possession was a quantity of fentanyl. He was held in custody for a bail hearing on two counts of fail to comply with release order and possession of fentanyl.   

 

Shoplifting

On May 6, 2022 at about 5:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a shoplifter at Canadian Tire on Parkedale Ave. Information was that a 31-year-old female was in the store and attempting to steal tools. Officers arrived and arrested the female for theft. The total value of the theft was low and the items were recovered. This female was previously trespassed from the store. She was released shortly after with a court date for the offence of theft under $5,000.00.  

 

Domestic Assault

A female has been charged after assaulting her partner. On May 7, 2022 at about 12:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a domestic disturbance in the area of King St. W. Officers arrived and located the male and female involved. Investigation revealed that the 21-year-old female had been in an altercation with her boyfriend. During the altercation, the female was attempting to take the males phone, and when doing so, scratched his neck and broke his glasses. The female was placed under arrest for assault, mischief under $5,000.00 and failing to comply with probation. She was charged and released on documents with a future court date.

 

Motor Vehicle Collision Leads to Assault

On May 8, 2022 at about 8:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of an assault that had taken place after a motor vehicle collision. Officers arrived to the location of Ferry St. and spoke to the people involved. Investigation revealed that a 20-year-old male, was operating his vehicle in an erratic manner. A citizen was following this vehicle at the time when the 20-year-old male driver activated the brakes, stopping abruptly. This caused the vehicle following to collide rear end into the vehicle ahead. The two drivers exited the vehicle and the 20-year-old male began striking and choking the other driver. It was also learned that the 20-year-old male was a suspended driver and was on his way to meet with a female he is on a peace bond to stay away from. He was arrested and charged with assault, breach of recognizance and driving while under suspension. Later he was released with a future court date.
