January 30, 2020 Theft

Theft:

On the 30th of January 2020 at 10:30 a.m. police responded to the TSC store on Broome Road in response to a theft of power tools.  The service is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects in the theft (see attached photos).  If you have any information regarding this crime please contact Cst. February 3 – 4, 2020 News Release

Warrants:

On the 3rd of February 2020 at 11:30 a.m. police responded to a suspicious person on Strowger Blvd.  Officers located a 31 year old female who was pointed out as the suspicious person.  The female had a warrant for her arrest for failing to re-attend court.  She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Warrants:

On the 4th of February 2020 at 1:00 a.m. police located a male loitering around private residences on Liston Ave.  The male was known to police and had a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court.  He was arrested at the scene and officers located a large quantity of marijuana on his person.  He was charged with being in possession of more than 30 grams of dried cannabis under the Cannabis Control Act and issued a new court date for his outstanding charge of failing to attend court.

February 1 – 3, 2020 News Release

Assault:

On February 1st, at 12:30 p.m. a 43 year old male was charged with assault after he pushed his landlord and struck a neighbour.  The landlord and the neighbour of the accused attended his residence due to excessive noise.  When confronted by the two about the noise the accused male lashed out.  Police were then contacted and attended the Park St. apartment building. 

 

Bail violations:

On the 1st of February a 23 year old male was charged with failing to comply with his release order for being at a Daniel Street address.  Police were called to a theft complaint and discovered that the male had been frequenting the address contrary to his conditions.  He was also charged with being in possession of property obtained by crime.  

 

Theft:

On the 1st of February at 10:00 p.m. a 36 year old female was arrested and charged with theft and breach of probation.  The female was apprehended by loss prevention officers at Walmart when they observed her committing the theft.  She was turned over to police who also charged her with breaching her probation order.

 

Theft/Drugs:

On the 2nd of February at 12:30 a.m. police located and charged a 19 year old male with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break/enter tools and possession of a controlled substance.  Police had received a call earlier in the evening report the theft of a bicycle.  Officers later observed the suspect on the bike and arrested him for being in possession of it.  A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of crystal methamphetamine and bolt cutters.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Drugs/weapons:

A 42 year old male and a 45 year old male are facing several charges after their vehicle was stopped shortly before 3 AM on the 2nd of February.  The 42 year old passenger had a warrant for his arrest failing to attend court.  He was arrested when the vehicle was stopped on Stewart Blvd.  A search incident to his arrest led to new charges for being in possession of a quantity of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and crack cocaine.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing. 

The 45 year old driver was also charged with being in possession of a controlled substance and weapon offences.  In the vehicle officers had located a small quantity of drugs, half a pool cue and a pool ball in a sock. He was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Public Intoxication:

A 32 year old male was arrested on the 31st of January at 11:00 p.m.  The male was located in the hallway of a hotel on Kent Blvd.  Staff contacted police when they discovered the male in one of the hallways.  He was not a guest of the hotel and was in an intoxicated state.  He was arrested by police for being intoxicated in a public place and held in custody until sober.  He was issued a $55 dollar fine.

 

Police Pursuit:

On the 1st of February at 1:00 a.m. off the Brockville Police Service was involved in a pursuit.  A black Dodge Durango was observed by officers on Parkedale Ave.  The vehicle had been cruising around closed stores in the area.  When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle it fled at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle made contact with one of the police vehicles attempting to stop it resulting in minor damage to the cruiser.  The vehicle then ramped on the 401 east bound.  The Ontario Provincial Police continued the pursuit for a short distance before discontinuing.  The investigation is ongoing and the driver has not yet been identified.

January 28 – 29, 2020 News Release

Assault:

On the 28th of January 2020 a 55 year old male was arrested for assault while attending a court proceeding.  The male was arrested by officers at court when they observed him assault another person in the court.  He was released room custody with a future court date.

 

Mischief:

On the 28th of January 2020 at 9:30 p.m. police received a complaint of several tires being slashed in the King St. West area.  The caller had observed two youth run from the area. While officers were on scene one of the suspects was brought back to the area by a relative.  The 14 year old male was charged with mischief.  The second youth involved was not charged.

 

Drugs:

On the 29th of January 2020 at 3:30 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop Church St.  As the vehicle stopped two males were seen running from the vehicle.  The 43 year old female driver remained with the vehicle.  In the vehicle officers discovered a quantity of methamphetamine along with concealed weapons.  The weapons included an air pistol, baseball bat, machete and several knives.  She was charged with weapons offences and possession of a controlled substance.

 

Assault:

The Brockville Police Service is investigating an assault that occurred on Hamilton St.  The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when someone discovered the 53 year old victim laying on the street.  The male had significant injuries from the assault.  He was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital.  No suspects have been identified at this time and the investigation is continuing.

January 27, 2020 News Release

Theft:

A 52 year old male was arrested yesterday afternoon for an outstanding theft.  The male was identified by staff at the Metro on King St. West in a theft on the 20th of January.  He was located yesterday by officers on routine patrol and arrested for the theft.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Assault:

On January 27th at 2:15 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to reports of a male bleeding at the Kensington Plaza.  The 17 year old male was located by police and EMS at the rear of the plaza on the east side.  The male had significant injuries to his face and was rushed to the Brockville General Hospital.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.

January 24 – 27, 2020 News Release

Robbery

On the 24th of January just before noon, a 44 year old male entered the “Change Health Care” clinic on King St. West.  The male was observed by staff on camera remove a handgun and place it on the counter.  The male then covered his face using a balaclava.  The staff member immediately closed a security screen at the counter and contacted police.  Officers were in the area and responded as the call came in.  The male was stopped as he left the business and arrested.  The handgun was an air pistol, similar in appearance to what the officers would be carrying.  Three pistols in total were located on the male.  Two more were later located in his back pack.  He was been charged with 1) adult disguise with intent 2) imitation firearm – used while attempting to commit offence 3) possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose 4) possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine 5) fail to comply with probation 6) robbery with a weapon.

 

Assault with a weapon

A 23 year old female has been charged with assault with a weapon after the male victim contacted police to report the incident on the 24th of January at 9:30 p.m.  The incident occurred in the city’s south end.  The couple had engaged in an argument which led to the female throwing a kitchen knife at the male striking him in the back.  The male was hit with the blunt end of the knife.

January 22 – 23, 2020 News Release

Warrants:

On January 22nd at 5:15 p.m. a 51 year old male was arrested on his outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.  The male was located by officers on routine patrol.  The male was before the courts for being in possession of a controlled substance from an incident in February of 2019.  He failed to re-attend court to answer to deal with the matter and a warrant was issued.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Shoplifting and warrant:

On the 22nd of January at 8:30 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart.  The 19 year old male had been arrested by loss prevention officers.  Officers continued the arrest and discovered that the male was also intoxicated by alcohol.  He was brought to the Brockville Police Service, lodged in the cells so a friend could be contacted.  He was charged with theft and released with a future court date.

A 20 year old male attended the police service to retrieve his friend.  The only problem was that this male had a warrant for his arrest from 2018 for mischief and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose.  He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

January 20 – 22, 2020 News Release

Theft

On the 21st of January at 9:15 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a theft complaint at the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Parkedale Ave.   A male had been captured on their security footage taking a portable speaker and leaving the store without any attempt to pay.

At 10:15 p.m. police responded to a residence on Pearl Street for a complaint of an unwanted guest.  The complainant wished that two intoxicated persons be removed from her residence.  A 29 year old male was spoken to and identified by police.  Officers recognized the male as the suspect from the theft at Shopper’s Drug Mart.  He was arrested for theft in relation to that occurrence.  The male had warrants for his arrest from Ottawa for failing to attend court.  The Ottawa Police Service was contacted, who then attended and took custody of the male.  He will appear in Brockville at a later date to answer to the theft charge. 

A second male, 40 years of age, was located in the area and arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.  The male was not at the residence on the officer’s arrival.  That male was searched incident to arrest, which led to the discovery of the stolen speaker.  He was charged with being in possession of stolen property and released with a future court date.

 

Impaired:

On the 22nd of January at 1:44 a.m. members from the Brockville Police responded to reports of a possible impaired driver on King St. West.  The vehicle was located and stopped.  The 25 year old driver failed a roadside test and was transported to the station where he registered samples of his breath of nearly double the legal limit.  He was charged with impaired operation and drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.

 

Bail violations:

On January 20th at 9:20 p.m. officers responded to a residence on Bartholomew Street for an unknown disturbance.  A 27 year old male was arrested for breaching a condition of his release by consuming alcohol.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Theft:

January 18 – 20, 2020 New Release

Public Intoxication:

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on January 18th, 2020 police were called to Boston Pizza for a 32 year old male that had refused to pay his bill.  The male was spoken to by police and despite their presence he still refused to pay.  He was arrested at the scene and charged with fraud.  He was later released with a future court date.

 

Mischief:

At 4:00 p.m. on the 18th of January 2020 police responded to an apartment building on Kensington Parkway for an intoxicated 19 year old male.  The caller indicated that the 19 year old was running around the neighbourhood bleeding.  Officers located the male along with some broken glass.  The male had used a fire extinguisher to break the glass, cutting himself in the process.  He was charged with mischief.

 

Extended Ban – winter control

This is a notice from the City of Brockville regarding scheduled snow and ice control operations.  Commencing at 11 PM tonight, major snow and ice control operations will take place south of the CNR (Canadian National Railway) tracks.

Parking will be prohibited on City streets within this area from 11 PM tonight, Monday January 20, 2020, until 7 AM tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21, 2020.  Parking restrictions in the remainder of the city will remain in effect from 2 AM until 7 AM.

Vehicles violating the parking ban will be ticketed and may be towed if required.  For information on towed vehicle please contact the Brockville Police Services at 613-342-0127.

Again, the extended parking ban on city streets is in effect for the area located south of the CNR tracks from 11 PM tonight until 7 AM tomorrow.

 

Follow-up to:

On Monday the 4th of November, 2019 at approximately 8:45pm members of the Brockville police engaged a White Dodge pickup due to its driving habits in the south end of town. Two males fled from the vehicle into the Rexall where they were immediately arrested. One of the males was on bail conditions with a curfew; the second male was on probation with numerous conditions. As a result of the arrest a large quantity of various drugs including Fentanyl, Crystal Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Hydromorphone and Marihuana were seized which yield a street value of over $40,000. The vehicle also had weapons and ammunition inside it. A 54 year old male and a 41 year old male were charged with weapons offences, breaches of court orders, as well as possession of stolen property and Cannabis Act charges. The 54 will also be charged with 4 counts of possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking. They were both held for a bail hearing.

On Friday January 17th, Everet Telgen 54 year old male pled guilty in this case.  He has been sentenced to 7 years custody.  The 41 year old male is still currently before the courts for his charges.

January 17, 2020 News Release

Drive Disqualified:

On the 16th of January at 1:40 p.m. a 38 year old male was arrested and charged with 1) operation while prohibited (Criminal Code) 2) breach of probation (Criminal Code) 3) use plates not authorized (Highway Traffic Act) 4) drive with open container of alcohol (Liquor Licence Act) 5) Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act 2017).  The male was observed operating his vehicle on Buell St. and was stopped by officers.  Along with the charges, his vehicle was impounded for 45 days as he was a disqualified driver.
