Motor Vehicle Collision Fatality:
On Thursday February 13th 2020 at 1:08 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle in the parking lot of the Brockville General Hospital. The pedestrian, Jeanette Runciman, was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot as it backed out of a space. Senator Bob Runciman, the spouse of Jeanette, was at the hospital with his wife at the time of the collision. Witnesses, staff from Brockville General Hospital and paramedics performed immediate first aid on the victim. She was rushed into the emergency department, but later succumbed to her injuries. The investigation is ongoing, but it is not considered a criminal investigation.

Impaired:
On the 10th of February 2020 shortly before 10:00 pm the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Central Ave. The vehicle was located by officers and stopped. The driver of the vehicle, a 36 year old male, was arrested for impaired operation by drug. He was transported to the station where he was evaluated by a drug recognition expert. Upon failing that test his licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days. He was released from custody with a future court date for impaired operation of a vehicle.
There was a 37 year old female passenger in the vehicle. That female was wanted by our service in relation to an assault from January 5th. In that incident the female is accused of kicking another female. She was arrested in relation to that warrant and searched incident to arrest. Police located a small amount of fentanyl, methamphetamine and pills believed to be ecstasy. She was further charged with being in possession of a controlled substance.
Warrants:
On the afternoon of the 8th of February 2020 a 53 year old male was arrested by Canada Border Services Agency officers when he returned to Canada at Pearson International Airport. The male had a warrant for his arrest for failing to comply with a court ordered condition. The male was returned to Brockville and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Stolen vehicle recovered:
On the 8th of February 2020 at 11:00 a.m. a stolen transport truck was recovered at the Home Depot parking lot on Parkedale Ave. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Quebec was located abandoned at the store.
Impaired by drugs:
On February 6, 2020 at 1:20 a.m. the Brockville Police Service received a call of a possible impaired driver on Front Ave. The caller indicated that the vehicle was all over the road apparently unable to steer. When officers arrived to investigate the driver fled on foot. He was arrested a short distance later. One officer was sent to hospital for a minor injury he received in the foot pursuit. The plates that were on the vehicle belonged to a local company and they did not match the vehicle. The male has been charged with impaired operation by drug, drive disqualified and possession of property obtained by crime. The vehicle has been impounded for 45 days as he was a disqualified driver.
The regular meeting of the Brockville Police Service Board will take place on February 25th at 1:30 pm.
Theft:
On the 30th of January 2020 at 10:30 a.m. police responded to the TSC store on Broome Road in response to a theft of power tools. The service is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects in the theft (see attached photos). If you have any information regarding this crime please contact Cst. Warrants:
On the 3rd of February 2020 at 11:30 a.m. police responded to a suspicious person on Strowger Blvd. Officers located a 31 year old female who was pointed out as the suspicious person. The female had a warrant for her arrest for failing to re-attend court. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Warrants:
On the 4th of February 2020 at 1:00 a.m. police located a male loitering around private residences on Liston Ave. The male was known to police and had a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court. He was arrested at the scene and officers located a large quantity of marijuana on his person. He was charged with being in possession of more than 30 grams of dried cannabis under the Cannabis Control Act and issued a new court date for his outstanding charge of failing to attend court.
