Shoplifter Arrested

A 27 year old Brockville man was arrested early last evening when he was observed by staff at Shopper’s Drug Mart in the 1000 Islands Mall concealing items in his clothing and fleeing the store.

Just before 7:00 p.m. officers responded to the Mall to assist staff in apprehending the young man who was now outside the store and running on the mall property. He was located a short distance away and taken into custody and the items recovered.

Further investigation showed the man was on probation at the time of the offence for threatening, mischief under $5000, assault with a weapon and breaching his probation order. As a result he was held for a bail hearing and is facing new charges of theft under $5000 and breaching his probation order.

 

 

Break and Enter

Brockville Police are investigating a break and enter which was reported late last evening to a residence on Pearl Street West.

Just after 10:30 p.m. officers were called to the residence on Pearl Street between William and Perth Streets when the homeowner returned home from work and discovered his laptop computer was missing from inside the residence.

Investigators would be interested in speaking with persons who may have been in the area at the time.
