October 15th Incidents

Domestic Dispute

On October 15th at approximately 12:30 am, Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute outside an apartment complex in the south end of the city.

A local, 21 year old female, was the instigator in a fight with a local, 25 year old male. The male was an ex-boyfriend of the female’s current partner. She was fined under the city fighting bylaw.

Police encouraged the male to find other accommodations for the evening. However, once out of sight, he returned to the apartment building and was found hiding in the bedroom of the apartment where the problem started. He ended up being arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace. No charges were laid against the male and he was released later the same day.

 

Liquor Offence

On October 15th at approximately 12:50 am, a local, 39 year old male, attended the Brockville Police station looking for a place to stay.

The intoxicated man was on release conditions for outstanding charges with one of those conditions being not to consume any alcohol.

He was arrested and charged with breaching his undertaking and released when sober with a future court date.

 

Drug Offence

On October 15th at 1:15 in the afternoon, Brockville Police attended the Brockville Jail to begin a drug investigation.

A local, 38 year old male, attended the Jail to begin serving an intermittent sentence. When Jail staff began searching the male they discovered drugs hidden on his body. Police seized the drug, believing it to be “crystal meth”. The male was kept in custody to serve his time but now faces a new charge for possession of the controlled substance.

 

Shoplifting

On October 15th at 3:25 in the afternoon, Brockville Police attended a north end box store for a shoplifting complaint. Two males had stolen electronic items and fled the store.

Police located the two males a few blocks from the store. A local, 14 year old male, was arrested and charged with theft. He was released on conditions with a future court date.

His local, 19 year old accomplice, was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen property and breach of an outstanding probation order. He was also in possession of a pocket knife and indicated to Police that it was for personal protection. This resulted in a further charge of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The older male was held in custody and will appear in bail court.
