Stolen Vehicles Recovered and Man in Custody
A 22 year old Ottawa man, who frequents the Brockville area, is in custody this morning pending a bail hearing later today after being arrested early this morning in connection with a pair of stolen vehicle investigations over the past several days.
On Saturday morning at approximately 9:30 Brockville Police received a call from a Balmoral Place resident telling officers his blue 2005 Dodge Caravan had been stolen sometime overnight from the parking lot. The subsequent police investigation led police to believe the 22 year old man was responsible for the theft and advised area police.
Last evening, Brockville Police received information from the Ottawa Police Service they had recovered the Blue Caravan stolen Saturday in Brockville and arrangements were made to recover the vehicle.
At 10:50 p.m. last evening Brockville Police communications centre received information from OPP Communications that their officers attempted to stop a white Ford Fusion entering Brockville for a Highway Traffic infraction but were unsuccessful. They had later learned the vehicle was reported stolen out of Ottawa and may be in the city.
The 22 year old suspect was later located inside Tim Horton’s on William Street by officers’ shortly after midnight and taken into custody on a variety of offences in relation to the two stolen vehicles and for breach the conditions of his Recognizance for being out past his curfew. The stolen Ford Fusion was later located in the Sheridan Mews area of downtown and recovered.
Both the Ottawa and Brockville Police Services are continuing their investigations.
Arrest Warrants Executed
A pair of Brockville area men is in custody this morning awaiting a bail hearing later today after arrest warrants were executed yesterday.
The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad located a 41 year old Brockville man in Smiths Falls yesterday who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend for his intermittent sentence at the Brockville Jail Friday October 13th. Officers from the Brockville Police Service returned the man to Brockville and he is appearing in Brockville Court later today for a Bail Hearing.
A 55 year old Cardinal man was arrested by Prescott OPP yesterday evening for an outstanding warrant after Failing to Appear in Brockville Court on June 10th, 2016 on Breach of Probation charges. The man was charged by Prescott OPP in September 2015 and released on a Promise to Appear at the time. He failed to appear at a subsequent court appearance in June of 2016 and the court issued a bench warrant for his arrest. He will appear as well in Brockville Court today for a Bail Hearing.
