Attempted Suicide
October 17, 2020 at 2:14 AM – Early Saturday morning the Brockville Police Service received a call about a person sitting on the railing of the William Street over pass. The caller stated that the subject’s legs were hanging over the edge and feared that they may be about to jump.
Members of C-platoon arrived on scene and began negotiations with the 23 year old female. CN rail had to be notified in order to stop any incoming trains. Officers continued with negotiations until she agreed to move off the railing to safety. She was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and brought to the Brockville General Hospital for an assessment.
Mental Health Apprehensions
October 18th, 2020 – Officers continued to be occupied with mental health type calls on Sunday with four apprehensions under the Mental Health Act in a 24 hour period.
Impaired
October 18, 2020 3:52 AM – A call was placed to the Brockville Police Service about a blue pickup truck that was stopped on Front Street at Stewart Boulevard. The driver was reported to be sleeping at the wheel of the running vehicle. The 44 year old driver was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. He was charged and released from custody with a court date in the future. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his licence was automatically suspended for 90 days.
