Fraud Suspects sought

The Brockville Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying two male suspects for a fraud incident which occurred last week at Shopper’s Drug Mart on Parkedale Avenue.

Yesterday just after 12 p.m. officers were called to the 1000 Islands Mall Shopper’s Drug Mart where staff reported two males were in the store and bought two bundles of stamps (approximately 2000 stamps) worth just over $1900 using a credit card. The card was later reported to the store to be fraudulent. Staff also reported the same two suspects were inside the store again on Tuesday, but fled before police could be alerted. They were last seen leaving in a grey vehicle.

The suspects are described as black males, in there early 30’s, medium build. One is clean shaven and wearing glasses and the other with a beard.

Shoplifters Arrested

A 27 year old man and 31 year old girlfriend were arrested yesterday after they were observed by alert Loss Prevention Officers at Wal-Mart yesterday afternoon stealing a large quantity of video games.

The pair was observed in the electronics section of the store selecting a large quantity of games from the store and leaving without paying for the merchandise and before they could be apprehended. They returned to the store a short time later in an attempt to take more games and were recognized by loss prevention staff that apprehended the pair until police arrived.

Further investigation revealed they had taken the games to a local pawn shop where the games were pawned for cash in between visits to Wal-Mart.

At the time of the arrest, both were also at large on a Recognizance of Bail for previous charges and as a result were held in custody pending a bail hearing later today.
