October 21- 23, 2022 News Release

Domestic Dispute

On October 21, 2022 at about 11:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a 911 call of a female asking for police and hung up. The call was tracked to a residence on Park St. Officers attended and found the residence to be in darkness. Officers entered to check on the well-being of everyone inside. While there, they located a 25-year-old male, hiding in the residence with the female who called. Investigation revealed that the male is on non-communication conditions with the female due to previous incidents with regards to concerns for safety. On the reported date, the male had attended the residence and the two engaged in an argument. The female went to leave the residence when the male then prevented her from doing so. He grabbed her arm, threw her into a chair and at one point was holding a knife in the air to intimidate her and threatened her. The male was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, utter threats, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, two counts of fail to comply with release order and two counts of fail to comply with probation. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.   

 

Disturbance

On October 22, 2022 at about 2:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of an argument that had taken place in one of the rooms at the Days Inn. Officers arrived and located a 25-year-old female, intoxicated by alcohol and walking around the lobby area. This female was identified to be involved in the dispute. Officers spoke to a male party also located at the hotel who indicated that there was a dispute over a cellphone. Due to the female’s intoxication level she was placed under arrest and held in custody until sober.  

 

Weapons Offences and Forcible Confinement

On October 22, 2022 at about 10:15PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call about an 18-year-old female at a residence on King St. E. with a weapon. It was reported that the female was in possession of a knife and a hatchet. Officers arrived and located the female. She was at the residence demanding drugs and not allowing people to leave the residence. She was placed under arrest for the offences of assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and two counts of fail to comply with probation. While in custody the female assaulted an officer by kicking them and also causing damage to a wall mounted phone. The officer did not sustain lasting injuries. The female was additionally charged with assaulting a peace officer and mischief under $5,000.00. She was held for a bail hearing.  

 

Impaired Driving

On October 23, 2022 at about 12:15AM, the Brockville Police Service a report of erratic driving in the area of Blockhouse Island. The information was that the driver was a 37-year-old female, who was reportedly chasing people at the Tunnel of Terror event. Officers did locate the female and vehicle in the area. Due to her actions she was arrested for dangerous driving. Once arrested it was believed that she was impaired by drugs. She was taken to the Leeds OPP Detachment for assistance with an opinion of a Drug Recognition Expert. It was then confirmed that she was impaired by drugs. She was charged dangerous driving, operation while impaired by drugs and stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act. Her licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and released with a future court date.   

 

Shoplifting and Warrants

On October 23, 2022 at about 4:00PM, the Brockville Police Service was called to investigate a report of a theft of two generators from Walmart on Parkedale Ave. The total value of the generators was approximately $930.00. The suspects were believed to be in the area. Officers did locate a 29-year-old female identified to be responsible. She was arrested for possession of stolen property and personation as she gave a false name to officers. She was also found to have an arrest warrant out for theft under $5,000.00 from a previous incident. The property was recovered and returned to Walmart. The female was held in custody for a bail hearing for the above noted offences.
