Fraud Investigation

The Brockville Police Service has received multiple complaints regarding a local landscaping company. Parties have made substantial down payments for proposed work that is not completed. If you have provided a down payment to a local landscaping company and the agreed upon work was not completed, please contact Detective Constable Jamie Garvin at 613-342-0127, EXT 4248.

 

The Brockville Police Service would like to remind the residents of Brockville to remain vigilant when hiring companies they have not previously used. Reputable businesses can often provide references and examples of work previously done.  Websites such as the Better Business Bureau are also able to offer valuable insight to prospective customers.

 

Mischief

October 25, 2021 at 9:28 AM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a suspicious fire inside the public washrooms at Hardy Park.  There was minimal damage in relation to the fire and the occurrence is still under investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Cst. Knezevic at 613-342-0127 ext. 6106 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

 

Warrants

October 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM, officers arrested a 26-year-old Ottawa resident when she was located in the area of Pearl Street East and Ormond Street.  Her probation officer had issued a warrant for her arrest for failing to comply with one of her conditions.  She was arrested without incident and issued a court date to answer to the charge.

 

Theft/Warrants

October 25, 2021 at 4:19 PM, officer were called to the Metro on King Street West for reports of a shoplifter.  A 35-year-old Brockville woman was arrested by the loss prevention officer for shoplifting, but when officers arrived they discovered that she had a warrant for her arrest for failing to attend court.  She was arrested for the warrant and held in custody for a bail hearing.  She was not charged for the theft.

 

Shoplifting

October 27, 2021 at 5:24 PM, officers responded to Canadian Tire on Parkedale Avenue for reports of a shoplifter.  A 49-year-old male was arrested by the loss prevention officer at the store and turned over to police.  Officer continued the arrest and charged the male for theft under $5000.  He was released at the scene with a future court date.

 

Shoplifting

October 28, 2021 at 12:14 PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call of a shoplifter that had broken away from the loss prevention officer at Canadian Tire.  The male left in an east bound direction on Parkedale Avenue heading towards the police service.  He was arrested as he approached the station for the offence of theft.  He was later released with a court date to answer to the charge of theft under $5000.
