Rescue
On October 15th at 11:06 in the evening, Brockville Police attended the water front at the end of Home Street for a submerged vehicle.
Officers noticed the vehicle was almost completely under water however, there was a female within the vehicle still, near the back window area. She was drawing breaths in a bubble that still existed within the car.
Sgt. Andrew Harvie, jumped in the river and using his Police issued baton, broke out the back window.
At this point, only her nose and eyes remained above water. She was then pulled from the vehicle and helped to shore where first aid was administered.
The local, 71 year old, was taken to hospital for assessment. Driver error was determined to be the cause of the close call.
