September 27 – 28, 2016 Incidents

Stunt Driving

On September 27th at 10:20 am, Brockville Police stopped a vehicle in the center/west area of the city.

While performing radar, the speed of the vehicle was captured at 120 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone. The 16 year old driver, a local young man, was stopped and charged with stunt driving. His licence was suspended automatically and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. A parent was contacted to attend and pick up their son.

 

Mental Health Help

On September 27th at 10:23 am, Brockville Police attended a north end intersection to assist an injured man.

The Quebec resident, 59 years of age, has been staying in a local motel. Witnesses noticed him with an apparent knee injury and Police were contacted along with an ambulance. The injury was not related to any contact with a vehicle. When spoken to, he refused medical treatment but Officers felt he was not in a position to look after himself. It is unknown how he hurt himself. He was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital for treatment to his knee as well as having mental health concerns addressed.

 

Drunk and Passed Out

On September 27th at 5:40 pm, Brockville Police attended a south end apartment building after reports of a male passed out in the hallway.

Officers spoke to a local 46 year old man known to them from similar incidents. He was noted to be holding a LCBO paper bag but the bottle wasn’t in sight. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication.

When sober, a fine was issued and he was sent on his way.

 

Close Call

On September 28th at 1:12 am, Brockville Police received a complaint concerning a group of people leaving a north end restaurant while possibly under the influence of alcohol.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle a short distance away and spoke to the 33 year old man behind the wheel. A demand was made for a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device. He complied and the sample registered an “ALERT”. This means his blood alcohol level was between .05% and .01%. Subsequently, his licence was suspended for 72 hours.

 

Mischief

On September 28th at 4:23 am, Brockville Police attended a bar on King Street East for a mischief complaint.

Someone had thrown a patio stone through the front window of the establishment. A resident in a nearby apartment, heard the glass break and contacted Police. A search of the area for a suspect was unsuccessful.
