Officers had a busy weekend responding to 123 calls for services, resulting in eight Criminal Code Arrests, two arrest warrants executed, and three apprehensions under the Mental Health Act.
Male facing Drug Charges
A 21 year old Brockville man is facing drug charges after police discovered a large quantity of drugs in a duffle bag while investigating an incident at a north end apartment.
Early Friday morning, Brockville Police were called to an apartment in the city’s north end on another matter. During the course of their investigation, a duffle bag was located and turned over to the police belonging to the 21 year old man who was no longer at the apartment. Located inside the duffle bag were large quantities of Xanax and Methamphetamine (Speed) tablets, 19 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), LSD stamps, and illicit Cannabis.
As a result the man is now facing 4 charges of Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking and is being held in custody on these and other offences pending a bail hearing.
Suspicious Person Complaint leads to Drug Charges
At approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday morning Brockville Police were called to a Community Park in the City’s west end on a report of some adult males causing damage to a fence in the park and yelling and screaming.
On arrival, officers located a 50 year old Brockville man in the park who was wanted on outstanding warrants for Breach of Probation and Arson in relation to a July incident. While searching the male upon arrest officers located a quantity of Crystal Meth and as a result he also facing additional drug charges.
Theft from unlocked vehicle
A 38 year old Brockville man is facing theft charges after he was caught returning to the same vehicle he had stolen from earlier in the morning.
At 3:10 a.m. Saturday morning, Brockville Police responded to a theft from a vehicle complaint in the downtown corridor where the victim reported his wallet and identification were taken from the unlocked vehicle. Officers attended to the area and were searching the downtown, when at 6:30 a.m. they received a call the same male had returned to the vehicle in a different location in the south end of Brockville. This time the man was located and arrested for theft.
Knife located after Shoplifting Arrest
Yesterday afternoon Brockville Police received a call from a north end store of a male shoplifter who had fled the store with a full shopping cart full of merchandise and was refusing to stop. When officers arrived they located the 24 year old Brockville man a short distance away, and he still refused to stop and comply with the responding officers requests.
As a result the male was taken to the ground, and placed in handcuffs and searched as part of the arrest. A knife was located in the man’s front pocket and seized.
The male is now facing charges of theft, breaching his probation and a breach of his release order.
