News Release January 20th – 23rd, 2025

Male Arrested After Causing a Disturbance

 On January 20, 2025, police had received multiple calls regarding a 40-year-old, male. On this date at about 3:00pm, a 911 call was received indicating that the male subject was causing a disturbance in the area of Pearl St. W. at William St. Information was that the male was jumping in front of vehicles attempting to make them stop. He was also shouting about going to jail and people that are causing harm to him and others. He was screaming and erratic.

Officers arrived on scene and confronted the subject who continued to shout in a non-sensical manner. The subject was placed under arrest for the disturbance. It was learned that the subject was currently sentenced to three different probation orders. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of causing a disturbance and three counts of failing to comply with probation.  

Impaired Driver Arrested

On January 23, 2025, at about 8:00pm, police received 911 calls regarding a motor vehicle collision that took place on Parkedale Ave., just West of Millwood Ave. Information was that a vehicle was pulling out of the parking lot of a restaurant in the area, where it collided with two vehicles. The suspect vehicle then fled from the scene of the collision.

The suspect vehicle was located in the parking lot of the 1000 Islands Mall, and the 72-year-old, male, driver, was identified and attempting to hide in one of the businesses at that location. Officers spoke to the male and learned that he had been consuming alcohol and a roadside breath test was administered. This test resulted in a fail.

The subject was placed under arrest and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. This test confirmed that the male was impaired and operating over the legal limit. The subject’s driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg and failure to stop after accident. He was released with a future court date.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest

On January 20, 2025, at about 3:30am, a traffic stop was conducted in the area of North Augusta Rd., for a traffic infraction. The occupants were identified, including 45-year-old, male, in the front passenger seat. It was learned that the 45-year-old, local male, was on an undertaking, with a curfew condition; to remain within his residence between the hours of 9:00pm and 6:00am.

The male subject was arrested and searched. He was found to be in possession of a pry bar, bag containing multiple other tools, unopened earrings, two credit cards belonging to another person, a package addressed to another person, and a quantity of crystal methamphetamine.  

The male subject was held for a bail hearing for the offences of fail to comply with undertaking, possession of a credit card, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break in instruments, possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking.

News Release – January 17&18th, 2025

Intimate Partner Violence Results in Charges

 On January 17, 2025, at about midnight, police received a call in the area of Stewart Blvd. and Parkedale Ave., regarding a male and female who had been in a dispute.

Officers attended the area and located a 26-year-old, female, who was reporting the incident. Investigation revealed that the female and her boyfriend, were on their way home to the Elgin area, after a night out. Along the way, they had engaged in an argument. The female subject disclosed that she struck the male three times in the face and then was dropped off at the above-mentioned location. The male did drive home where police spoke with him and confirmed he had been assaulted.

The female subject was arrested and charged with assault and failing to comply with her probation. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.  

Arrest Warrant Execution

Over the past several days, various arrest warrants were executed. The following are some of those details:

On January 17, 2025, at about 9:00am, a wanted 16-year-old, male, was arrested at the Brockville Court. The warrant was for multiple offences including assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon and failing to comply with release order. He was held for a bail hearing.

On January 17, 2025, at about 11:00pm, a wanted 21-year-old, male, was located on King St. W., and arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend for fingerprinting and court. He was released on new documents and court date.

On January 18, 2025, at about 2:30am, police located a 58-year-old, male, at the Brockville General Hospital. He was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court. He was released on new documents with a court date.

On January 18, 2025, at about 4:30pm, a 31-year-old, female from Markham, was arrested by the York Police Service. The female had a warrant stemming from an incident that took place in Brockville, in October 2024. This warrant was regarding the subject’s bail surety being revoked. The charges included fail to comply with release order, fail to comply with undertaking and obstruct peace officer. She was held for a bail hearing by the Brockville Police Service.

News Release January 12th, 2025

Firearm Possession Leads to Charges

 On January 12, 2025, at about 2:00am, officers from the Kingston RCMP Border Integrity Detachment, were on patrol in the Brockville area. During their patrol, they monitored the area of, The Bar, on King St. W. While there, they observed a male being removed from the establishment, due to an altercation that took place inside. The RCMP officers were ready to assist in de-escalating the altercation, when they observed the 31-year-old, male, pull a hand

gun from his waistband. The male subject proceeded to hold the firearm at his side. Once the subject noticed the officers, he attempted to move around the corner to discard the firearm on the corner of King St. W. and John St. The RCMP officers quickly arrested the male and held the crime scene for further investigation.

Officers from the Brockville Police Service continued with the investigation. The crime scene was processed and the subject in possession of the firearm was charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

News Release January 10th, 2025

Intimate Partner Violence Breach

On January 4th, 2025, the Brockville Police Service reported about a 20-year-old female breaching her IPV conditions. She was held in custody, and subsequently released on further conditions not to communicate with her boyfriend. On January 10th, 2025, just after 3:30 a.m., the police received a report that she had breached these conditions by being in his presence. She was found with him and arrested for the breach. She remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Cause disturbance/Trespass by night

On January 9th, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint about a man yelling at employees and customers at a business in the north end of town. A 33-year-old male was located nearby and arrested for causing a disturbance and breaching his probation. He was later released on an undertaking.

Then, on January 10th, 2025, at around 4:30 a.m., the same 33-year-old was captured on surveillance cameras in and around residences, backyards, and sheds in the south end of town. He fled before officers arrived. About two hours later, at approximately 6:30 a.m., he was located at the Brockville General Hospital, arrested, and held for a bail hearing.

News Release January 7th, 2025

Warrants

On January 7th, 2025, a 19-year-old male was sought for charges including assault with a weapon, failing to attend court and fingerprinting, and violating probation. He was arrested by the RCMP in Quebec, then transported to the Ontario border. From there, he was taken to Brockville, where he was held for a bail hearing. The charges originated from an incident in August 2024, when he assaulted his 20-year-old sister by throwing an object at her.

On January 7th, 2025, a 33-year-old male was wanted for violating probation as well failing to appear in court, with these offences dating to 2023. He was located in Kingston and subsequently transported to Brockville, where he was held for a bail hearing.

News Release January 6th, 2025

Family Dispute leads to arrest

On January 6th, 2025, at about 12:00pm, the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a family dispute involving a knife in the area of King Street West. Upon arrival, officers discovered that an 18-year-old female had threatened her sister with a knife. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The individual was arrested and charged with Utter threats and Assault with a weapon. She was subsequently held for a bail hearing.

Intimate Partner Violence

On December 17, 2024, at about 10:30am, police received a call regarding a domestic dispute that had taken place the night previous.

The female victim her 20-year-old, boyfriend were at a friend’s residence on King St. W., on the evening of December 16th. While there, the two engaged in an argument where the male subject was forcing the female to look at him by grabbing her by the face and legs. As the female made attempts to leave, he would intervene and prevent her from doing so.

Later that afternoon, police located the male subject and placed him under arrest. He was charged with assault and forcible confinement and held for a bail hearing.

 

Shoplifter Arrested

On December 17, 2024, at about 2:00pm, police received a 911 call regarding a theft in progress at Walmart. Information was that the suspect was fleeing the store and staff members were following.

The suspect was evading police as the officers quickly responded to the area. After a short period, the suspect was located and arrested. The male was identified as a 35-year-old, local, male. Investigation revealed that the male subject had attended Walmart and selected approximately $700.00 worth of merchandise. The subject then exited the store making no attempt to pay for the product. The items were recovered and returned to Walmart. He was charged with theft under $5,000.00 and failing to comply with his probation order. He was released on conditions and a future court date.    

 

Intimate Partner Violence Incident Concluded with Impaired Driving

On December 18, 2024, at about 9:00am, police received information regarding an incident of intimate partner violence, that took place the previous day.

Investigation revealed that a female along with her 39-year-old, husband were driving in their vehicle, in the area of Rivers Ave., on December 17, 2024. There they pulled over as they engaged in a dispute. This resulted in her attempting to leave the vehicle when he grabbed her to pull her back in. She eventually exited the vehicle and the male did as well to confront her outside. She attempted to grab her purse where the male subject pulled it away form her. She did retrieve her wallet and left the area. As she was walking away, the male subject struck the windshield causing it to crack and then drove towards her at a high rate of speed, while squealing the tires. He then mounted a curb and chased the female on foot. Shortly after, two bystanders, intervened and deterred the male subject from anything further taking place.

In the afternoon of December 18, 2024, at about 12:30pm, police received a call from a residence on Beecher St., that the male subject was in the vehicle and had struck a fence. This residence was a friend of the male subject. When officers arrived, it was determined that the male had been consuming drugs. The male was arrested for various offences, including impaired driving. He was taken for further testing by a drug recognition expert who confirmed that the male was impaired by drugs.

The male subject was charged with assault, harassment, mischief under $5,000.00, dangerous driving, and operation while impaired by drugs. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.    

 

Fire Scene in North End

On December 18, 2024, at about 11:00am, police originally received a call for a disturbance at an apartment building on Kyle Crt. Officers attended and found that there in fact was a small fire and the Brockville Fire Department was in attendance.

Officers attended the residence and learned that there was an e-bike battery charging that somehow malfunctioned and the battery began to bubble and smoke. The owners attempted to put the fire out with water, which, made the situation worse. Firefighters were able to take care of the battery and rendered everything safe. Unfortunately, two officers who had attended the scene to investigate the initial, suspected disturbance, were exposed to fumes of the burning battery. They did receive medical attention and were released by doctors with a plan to monitor possible concerns. At this time, it appears this is precautionary only.

Impaired Driver Removed from the Roads

On December 19, 2024, at about 4:45pm, police received a 911 call regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Pearl St. It was described that the suspect vehicle was swerving in lanes, and at one point, operating in the opposite lane of traffic.

Officers attended the area and located the suspect vehicle and identified the driver to be a 58-year-old, female. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested. She was taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing, which confirmed her impairment. Her driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mg. She was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Female Arrested After an Intimate Partner Violence Incident

On December 22, 2024, at about 6:30am, police received a 911 call regarding a dispute between a male and his 21-year-old, girlfriend. The two were engaged in an argument over the status of their relationship at their residence on Pearl St. E.

When officers arrived, the investigation revealed that the male was sleeping in bed. He woke up to the female subject over top of him, delivering multiple strikes all over his body. She was upset over text conversations she observed in his phone. The male pushed her away, got up, and then police were notified. This resulted in the female subject being arrested. She was released on conditions and a future court date after being charged with assault. 

News Release – December 14 – 15, 2024

Reports of Gunshots Under Investigation

On December 15, 2024, at about 8:00pm, the Brockville Police Service received multiple 911 calls regarding reports of gunshots fired, in the area of Church St.

Police responded quickly and located the crime scene near the intersection of Church St. and Clarissa St. Investigation revealed that a number of rounds were fired at a multi-unit residence.  There were no reported injuries as result of the incident. 

A preliminary investigation has led police to determine that this was a targeted act of violence.  The incident remains under investigation, and information will be released when it becomes available.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 Extension: 0 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Police are asking residents and businesses in the area of Church Street, George Street, Perth Street, Gilmour Street and Maple Street to check their video surveillance in and around the time of the occurrence and report any suspicious activity to Police.

 

 

Intimate Partner Violence Investigation

On December 14, 2024, at about 10:30pm, police received a 911 call to attend a residence in the area of Brennan St., regarding an altercation.

Officers attended and investigation revealed that a male and female couple, were involved in an argument. The argument escalated to the point that the 42-year-old, male subject, shoved the female causing her to fall and spit in her face. The male was placed under arrest and charged with assault. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
