Probation Breach Leads to Arrest

On October 17, 2022 at about 10:30AM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located a 23-year-old male along with a female, in the area of Brock St. Officers recognized the two as it was known that the male is on conditions to abstain from communication with the female. The conditions are as a result of a probation order. He was arrested and later released after being charged with two counts for fail to comply with probation.

 

Bail Violation

On October 18, 2022 at about 11:15PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service observed a male flee on foot from a vehicle in the area of Balmoral Pl. Officers attended the area and eventually located a 17-year-old male. The male was fleeing from police as he was on an undertaking with a curfew bail condition. He was to be in his residence between hours of 10:00PM – 6:00AM. Once he was arrested by police he was searched. During the Search officers found a prohibited knife in his possession. The knife was seized. The male was released from custody back to his parents after being charged with failure to comply with undertaking and unauthorized possession of a weapon.   

 

Warrants

On October 17, 2022 at about 10:10AM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located a 36-year-old male in the area of Brock St. The male was known to have a bench warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court. The male was arrested and released shortly after with a new court date.

Further;

On October 17, 2022 at about 11:00PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 16-year-old female who was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic stop in the area of Ford St. The female was identified to have multiple warrants for her arrest for various previous offences including assault, mischief under $5,000, failing to attend for fingerprinting and fail to comply with probation. She was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

October 14 – 16, 2022 News Release

Warrants

Late Saturday afternoon patrol officers spotted a 33 year old Brockville area man near the Stewart Blvd 401 overpass wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court earlier in October for theft charges. The male was taken into custody without incident and held for a bail hearing later today

Early Sunday morning, the Gananoque Police Service arrested a 29 year old Brockville area man wanted for a Brockville Police Service warrant for failing to abide by his release order. The male was taken into custody by the Gananoque Police Service and later released with a future court date.

 

Traffic Stop leads to charges

A Brockville couple is facing several traffic related charges after police stopped their vehicle Sunday evening on North Augusta Road.

Patrol officers stopped a Chrysler 300 for a traffic related offence shortly before 8 pm Sunday evening and learned the 45 year old male driving was a suspended driver.  Officers also learned the vehicle registered to his common-law partner, the 46 year old female passenger was being operated with no insurance.

As a result, the driver was issued a summons for driving while under suspension and the owner and passenger of the vehicle given a summons for permitting the vehicle to be driven with no insurance with a future court date.  The vehicle was then towed from the scene.

October 13 – 18, 2022 News Release

Weapons Charges

A 26 year old Cardinal area man is in custody this morning and scheduled to appear for a bail hearing later today after an incident at a centre town Brockville apartment early yesterday morning.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning the male attended to the 26 year old female victims apartment where she was with another female friend brandishing a replica handgun. The male made some threatening comments and attempted to rob the girls before they were able to get the handgun away from him and he fled the apartment.

Later in the morning, after the male posted some concerning messages over one of his social media accounts the Brockville Police asked for the assistance of the Grenville OPP in locating the accused male. They were able to locate him in the town of Cardinal and arrest him in relation to the occurrence and turn him over to Brockville Police late Thursday evening.

He is facing charges of assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of imitation weapon, and careless use of a firearm in relation to the incident.

 

Traffic Stop leads to Drug Charges

A vehicle driving erratically and without its taillights on early this morning drew the attention of patrol officers in the city’s downtown core resulting in a 35 year old Ottawa man being arrested and charged for drug and traffic related offences.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. officers observed a grey Mitsubishi operating without taillights and trying to evade police in the downtown area. The vehicle was stopped a short time later and it was learned the driver of the vehicle was prohibited from driving for previous offences. After he exited the vehicle, a large quantity of cocaine and crack cocaine was located. In addition, officers located a smaller container containing a small amount of crystal meth and a substantial amount of money. The man was then advised he would also be facing additional charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

In addition, the man will be facing driving charges of driving while prohibited, operating a vehicle with no insurance, using license plates not authorized for the vehicle and operating a vehicle without proper rear lighting.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing later today.

 

October 12 – 13, 2022 News Release

Drug Arrest

A 34 year old Brockville man is facing drug charges after being stopped by officers at King and Broad Streets late yesterday morning

Patrol officers in the downtown area spotted the male acting suspicious while speaking with an adult couple on King Street. As a result, officers stopped the man walking on King in the area of Broad Street. The male who is known to police was arrested for trafficking a Controlled Substance and a search of accused resulted in police seizing a quantity cocaine, and crystal meth, as well a set of scales.

The man who is now facing charges of trafficking in a controlled substance was later released from custody with a future court date.

 

October 11 – 12, 2022 News Release

It was a relatively busy 24 hour period for an October Tuesday with the Brockville Police Service Responding to 40 calls for service including 4 arrests.

 

Warrants

Officers executed two arrest warrants on Tuesday. At approximately 10:30 a.m. yesterday morning a patrol officer noticed a 53 year old Brockville man walking in midtown who was wanted for failing to attend court earlier this month. As a result the man was placed under arrest, charged with failing to attend court and released.

At 11:15 a.m. yesterday morning a 22 year old former Brockville woman attended to the Brockville Police Service and turned herself in for an outstanding warrant of domestic charges from September.  She was processed on those charges and released as well with a future court date.

 

Break and Enter

Yesterday morning at approximately 11:45 a.m. Brockville Police responded to a complaint of a break and enter to a Waverly Drive residence. The resident was inside the home when she heard a noise near a window in her residence. When she went to check the source she observed someone attempting to gain entry into the house. She yelled out and the suspect fled on foot through back yards.

The only available information is the suspect is believed to be male and may have had a vehicle nearby which he used to flee.

Investigators are currently looking through security footage to obtain more information. Police are asking anyone who was in the area of Waverly Drive between First Avenue and Oxford Avenue around the lunch time yesterday, or have security footage to contact the Brockville Police at 613-342-0127 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Stolen Vehicle

The Brockville Police are also investigating the theft of a van and trailer from the Victoria Avenue area yesterday during the lunch time.

A 2012 Kia Sedona with a trailer attached was stolen shortly after noon yesterday and later located on Oxford Ave later in the day without the trailer attached and items missing from the interior of the van.

October 3 – 7, 2022 News Release

Weeks Statistics

Over the last week from September 30 – October 6, 2022, the Brockville Police Service responded to 290 calls for service. As a result of these calls officers made 18 arrests and issued a total of 27 criminal code and 12 traffic related charges. There were also 5 mental health apprehensions to connect people to resources to better assist them.

 

Unwanted Person Violating Bail Conditions

On October 3, 2022 at about 1:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding two unwanted people on property in the area of Strowger Blvd. Officers arrived and located a 29-year-old female and a 33-year-old male. Investigation revealed that the female had a warrant out for her arrest for failing to attend a previous court date. The male was also found to be on conditions to abstain from communicating with this particular female. As a result, both were arrested. She was arrested for failing to attend court and he was arrested and charged with fail to comply with undertaking. Both were eventually released with future court dates.

 

Harassment

On October 4, 2022 the Brockville Police Service was conducting an ongoing investigation into a complaint of criminal harassment. Ongoing unwanted communication was being sent by a 41-year-old male to another female. Multiple attempts were made to provide an opportunity for the unwanted communication to cease, without success. As a result the male was arrested for criminal harassment and later released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Bail Violation

On October 3, 2022 at about 9:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received information that a 62-year-old male, had breached his bail conditions. The male was to attend a bail supervision program appointment the previous week and failed to make any attempts to contact the supervisor. Later that day at about 3:00PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located and arrested the male in the area of Brock St. He was charged with fail to comply with release order and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Warrant

On October 4, 2022 at about 7:00AM, an 18-year-old male turned himself into the Brockville Police Service as he was aware of an outstanding bench warrant. The warrant was in relation to him failing to attend previous court appearance dates. He was arrested and released with a new court date.   

 

September 28 – October 1, 2022 News Release

Impaired Operation

On September 28, 2022 at about 11:45PM, officers observed a 53-year-old male in a truck, revving his truck engine, in the area of Bartholomew St. The male pulled the vehicle into the driveway of a residence in the area. Officers approached the male and found him to be impaired by alcohol.  The male was arrested for impaired operation and taken to the Brockville Police Service for breath samples. Once there, it was confirmed that he was operating over the legal limit. His vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operate while impaired and operate while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mgs. He was later released with a future court date.

 

Impaired Operation

On September 30, 2022 at about 11:30PM, officers observed a 47-year-old male in a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the area of James St. The male almost struck one of the police cruisers parked in the area. Officers located the male and initiated a traffic stop. The officer’s found the male to be impaired by alcohol.  The male was arrested for impaired operation and taken to the Brockville Police Service for breath samples. It was also learned that the male was already prohibited from driving. Once at the police station, it was confirmed that he was operating over the legal limit. The vehicle was impounded and he was charged with operate while impaired, operate while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mgs and operation while prohibited. He was later released with a future court date.

 

Stolen Vehicle

On October 1, 2022 at about 8:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a suspicious male and vehicle in the area of the Quickie on William St. Officers attended and located the vehicle in question. Officers identified the male with the vehicle to be a 38-year-old male from the Niagara Falls area. He initially gave a false name to officers. It was also discovered that the vehicle in his possession had been reported stolen. The male was arrested for possession of stolen property. He and the vehicle were searched. During the search, officers located stolen property from the Tall Ships building and five different identity cards not belonging to him. The male was held for a bail hearing for the offences of possession of property obtained by crime, operation while prohibited, obstruct peace officer and five counts of possession of identity documents.   

 

Warrants

On September 30, 2022 the Brockville Police Service located two different individuals who were wanted for various warrants. A 33-year-old female and 46-year-old male, were wanted on a probation warrants. Both were unrelated. They were arrested and released shortly after with future court dates.

 

September 24 – 27, 2022 News Release

B&E/Robbery – WANTED

On September 27, 2022 at about 3:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a B&E and robbery. The incident occurred at a residence on Central Ave. Investigation revealed that a 35-year-old male, Tyler Edwards, broke into the residence and was confronted by the home owner. At that time, Edwards threatened to harm the victim while attempting to steal property. Tyler Edwards fled the scene shortly after and is now wanted by police for B&E and commit robbery. This incident is of concern for public safety. He is described as 5’6”, 150lbs, brown hair and green eyes. See the photo for further detail. UPDATE –  Mr. Edwards has turned himself in for arrest. He is safely in police custody without incident. He will be held for a bail hearing which will take place September 29, 2022.

Impaired Driving

On September 24, 2022 at about 7:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of an intoxicated female in a vehicle parked in a parking lot of the TD Bank on Parkedale Ave. Officers attended and located the 32-year-old female in the vehicle. She was described as having difficulty walking to the vehicle. Officers requested a roadside screening test breath sample, which resulted in a fail. The female was arrested for operating over 80mg and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. During the testing, the female refused to co-operate with police. Her vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand. She was released once sober with a future court date.

 

B&E Leads to Arrest

On September 27, 2022 at about 8:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a 21-year-old male, apparently attempting to gain entry into a residence on Perth St. The male had knocked a window mount air conditioning unit out of the window. The male suspect never gained entry and walked away from the area. Officers attended and located the male nearby. He was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for the offence of mischief under $5,000 and held in custody until sober. He was charged with mischief and given a future court date.

September 21 – 22, 2022 News Release

Shoplifting Leads to Arrest

On September 21, 2022, the Brockville Police Service was investigating multiple shoplifting complaints. One complaint came in from the Dollarama at Parkedale Ave. and Kent Blvd. and a second from the Canadian Tire on Parkedale Ave. A 27-year-old male, was identified to be responsible for the thefts. The male had attended the Dollarama where a minor theft had occurred and the items were quickly recovered. The male was warned for this offence at about 1:00PM and released from police custody. A short time later, at about 3:15PM, officers investigated the second theft complaint by the same male suspect at Canadian Tire. Officers arrested the male for theft under $5,000.00 after he attempted to steal tools and batteries. He was released from custody after being charged with the theft and issued a court date.    

 

Bail Violations

On September 21, 2022 at about 11:30AM, the Brockville Police Service attended a residence in the area of King St. E. regarding a disturbance. Once on scene, officers found a male and female who had been involved in a dispute. Investigation revealed that the 40-year-old female, was on release order bail conditions to reside at an address in Gananoque. It was learned that she had changed her address and moved to Brockville without seeking approval or notifying the courts, approximately two months ago. She was arrested for the offence of fail to comply with release order and held in custody for a bail hearing.   

 

Disturbance Involving Weapons

On September 22, 2022 at about 10:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a disturbance involving multiple people in an altercation with a knife on Laurier Blvd. Officers quickly arrived on scene and arrested three males involved in the altercation. Investigation revealed that the three males were in a heated dispute. Another male in the area attempted to get involved to deescalate the situation. Once that happened, a 33-year-old male from the group brandished a knife and threatened the male attempting to assist. After further investigation, the other two males involved in the altercation were released at the scene without charges. The 33-year-old male was taken into custody. He was later charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Domestic Dispute

On September 22, 2022 at about 1:45PM, the Brockville Police Service received reports of a male and female involved in a physical altercation on Perth St. Officers attended the scene and located a female and 44-year-old male, who were involved in the dispute. Investigation revealed that the couple were in a relationship. It was learned that during the physical altercation the male had struck the female in the head and threatened to continue to assault her. It is to be noted that this male is on probation. The male was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of assault, utter threats and fail to comply with probation.

 

September 17 – 20, 2022 News Release

Package Thefts Leads to Arrest

On September 19, 2022 at about 11:45AM, the Brockville Police Service received a report of a theft of Amazon packages, from the step of a residence in the area of Daniel St. Two males were observed walking together and in possession of the package. Officers did locate the males and they were both arrested for the theft of the package. Further investigation revealed that one of the males was identified to be responsible for the theft. The individual responsible was a 20-year-old male and was charged with theft under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with recognizance. The second male present was released unconditionally. 

Additionally the Brockville Police Service would like to remind members of the community to make all attempts to keep their property safe. Packages and deliveries left on the front step of a residence run a risk of being stolen if not secured or left visible. It is recommended to give the delivery workers option to secure your package with some type of lockbox or securing device.

 

Disturbing the Peace Results in Male Arrested

On Sept 17, 2022 the Brockville Police Service had received multiple complaints about a 29-year-old male, causing a disturbance and apparently on drugs, in the area of Perth St. At about 6:45PM, officers actually received another complaint about this male and located him at a residence on the South end of Perth St. There, a confrontation ensued between the male and a resident. The male assaulted the resident by biting his hand and threatened him. Officers did arrest the male for the offences of assault, utter threats and fail to comply with probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. 

 

Weapon Possession

On September 20, 2022 at about 8:00AM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located a 24-year-old male, who was being investigated regarding a separate theft investigation. During that investigation officers located a BB gun. This individual was on multiple firearms and weapons prohibitions. He was arrested in relations to the theft investigation and held for bail for the offences of possession of a prohibited weapon, fail to comply with release order and fail to comply with probation.
