January 11 – 12, 2023 News Release

Domestic Dispute

On January 11, 2023 at about 6:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a male threatening self-harm at the residence of his girlfriend. Officers attended the residence to locate the male. He was identified to be a 35-year-old male. His mental health was assessed. During this investigation, it was learned that there was a previous incident between the couple where an object was thrown at the female. This resulted in the male subject being charged with assault with a weapon. He was released with a future court date.

 

Bail Violation

On January 12, 2023 at about 10:30AM, the Brockville Police Service was assisting the Court Enforcement Officer with the eviction of multiple individuals at a residence on Brock St. While there, a female along with a 56-year-old male, were located together in the residence. Investigation revealed that the male subject was on undertaking with a bail condition to abstain from communicating with the female he was with. The male was arrested and charged with failing to comply with undertaking. He was later released with a future court date.

 

Domestic Disturbance

On January 12, 2023 at about 4:15PM, the Brockville Police Service received a report of a domestic disturbance on Convey Cres. Officers attended the area and located a male and his 31-year-old girlfriend. It was determined that the male and female engaged in a heated verbal argument and during this, would not allow the male to leave the residence. The argument escalated to the point that the female threatened, slapped numerous times and bit the male twice. The female was placed under arrest and held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of forcible confinement, uttering threats and assault.  

 

January 10 – 11, 2023 News Release

Shoplifter Becomes Assaultive

On January 10, 2023 at about 8:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart who had assaulted staff. Police were notified and advised that staff were in a physical confrontation with the shoplifter. As police arrived on scene, the 32-year-old male was arrested and taken into custody. It was learned from Loss Prevention that the male suspect had approximately $700.00 of merchandise which he was attempting to place into a bag and conceal. The subject struck the door greeter in the face and threw the items at the Loss Prevention Officer. The male was held for a bail hearing and charged with theft under $5,000.00, assault and resist arrest.    

 

Disturbance Leads to Warrant Arrests and Breach of Bail Conditions

On January 11, 2023 at about 12:30AM, the Brockville Police Service received a call of a disturbance on King St. W. Officers attended and located a 28-year-old male and a 35-year-old female. It was learned that the male was on bail conditions to abstain from communicating with the female he was located with. It was then determined that the female had a bench warrant for her arrest, issued by the OPP, for failing to attend court. Both were placed under arrest. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing and charged with fail to comply with release order conditions. The female was later released on an undertaking regarding the OPP bench warrant and issued a new court date.

 

Domestic Disturbance

On January 11, 2023 at about 1:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a domestic disturbance at a residence on Water St. Officers attended and located the male and female couple involved. Investigation revealed that the two were engaged in a verbal argument which resulted in the 51-year-old female, striking her boyfriend in the face with her knee. This caused an injury to the male’s nose. The injury is considered non-life-threatening. As a result, the female was placed under arrest for assault. During the arrest, the female kicked one of the officers involved. She was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offence of assault and assault a peace officer.  

January 5 – 7, 2023 News Release

Domestic Disturbance

On January 5, 2023 at about 9:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a domestic dispute at a residence on Reynolds Dr. Officers attended and located the couple involved. Investigation revealed that the male and female couple were involved in an argument that resulted in the 23-year-old female, assaulting her boyfriend and biting him. She was placed under arrest for assault. Once the investigation was complete, she was charged with assault and released with conditions and a future court date. 

 

Disturbance

On January 6, 2023 at about Noon, a 34-year-old female, was causing a disturbance at the Court House. She had previously been warned for her actions and asked to not cause a disturbance while in attendance. This request was ignored and officers were forced to place the female under arrest. She was held in for a period of time until the disturbance would no longer be caused. She was released unconditionally after being setup with services to assist her.

 

Break and Enter

On January 7, 2023 at about 12:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call regarding a male attempting to break into a family member’s residence on Wall St. It was described that the male was attempting to use a shovel to gain entry into the residence. Officers met the suspect at the rear of the residence. He was placed under arrest. Later, the male was being released from custody after being charged with mischief for damages caused. He became upset over release conditions being imposed on him and made comments of self-harm. At that time he was apprehended for a mental health assessment. He was initially not co-operative with this but later complied. No one was injured and he was released on conditions with a future court date in relation to the mischief charge.

 

Probation Conditions Breached

On January 6, 2023 at about 1:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a 56-year-old male, breaching his probation conditions. It was learned that the male subject attended a residence on Pearl St. W. where he had conditions to abstain from communication with the individual residing there. The male was later located and arrested for failing to comply with probation. When he was searched, officers located a quantity of a substance believed to be crystal meth. He was released on new conditions and a future court date after being charged with fail to comply with probation and possession of a Schedule I substance.

 

Warrants

On January 5, 2023 at about 7:00PM, the Brockville Police Service was investigating an incident at a residence on Victoria Ave. While there, officers located a 46-year-old male involved and learned that there was a warrant for his arrest. The warrant was in relation to the male failing to attend for fingerprinting. He was placed under arrest and later released with a future court date.

Further;

On January 6, 2023 at about 10:00AM, officers from the Brockville Police Service were in the area of Brock St., when they located a 38-year-old male. They found that the male was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant. The warrant was in relation to failing to attend court. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

January 1 – 4, 2023 News Release

Motor Vehicle Collision

On January 1st, 2023 at about 7am, the Brockville Police Service received a report of a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Rivers Ave., and King St. East. Officers responded and learned that the twenty one year driver had swerved to avoid an animal on the roadway and collided with a pedestrian walk-way pole. No other motor vehicles or pedestrians were involved.  The driver was not injured.

 

Bail Violations

On January 1st at about 4:00pm the Brockville Police Service responded to a disturbance in the area of Rotary Park.  Officers attended and located a female and a male who was hiding from police.  Investigating officers then learned that the twenty three year old male was on conditions to not be in the presence of the female.  The male was arrested for failing to comply with probation and was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Distraction Theft

On January 3rd, 2023 the Brockville Police Service received a report of a theft that took place at the Sport Chek on Crocker Cres.  Officers learned that the male suspect had proceeded to the cash with clothing totaling approximately one thousand dollars.  The male suspect then provided the cashier with a cash payment which was counted out in front of the suspect who then asked to count it back by himself.  It was during this interaction that the suspect successfully pocketed half of the cash amount while the cashier was not paying attention.  This incident is still under investigation.

 

Stolen Vehicle

On January 4th, 2023 at about 4:05am a member of the Brockville Police Service observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Centennial Road.  Police attempted to stop the motor vehicle, but were unsuccessful as the driver failed to stop for police.  The vehicle was recovered a short time later, unoccupied in the area of Kensington Pkwy.  Investigation by officers revealed that the motor vehicle had been stolen earlier from a residence on Borden Cres.  The investigation is ongoing.

 

 

December 28 – 29, 2023 News Release

Wanted Person Arrested

On December 28, 2022 at about 10:30am, an officer from the Brockville Police Service observed a 55-year-old male, known to be wanted in the area of Broad St. The male subject was wanted in relation to an unlawfully in a dwelling investigation. He was arrested and further investigation revealed that he had full intentions to attend back to the victim’s residence, where he was not welcome to attend. For the safety of the victim, the male was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling and held for a bail hearing.

 

Theft

On December 29, 2022 at about 9:00am, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding thefts from a residence on Centre St. Information came to police of an elderly male who lives alone and is assisted regularly by a PSW. Family members became suspicious of the PSW as they noticed money was frequently going missing from the residence. The family actually at one point captured the PSW stealing money from the elderly male’s wallet. The PSW was identified to be a 25-year-old female. She was contacted and attended the police station upon request. There, she was arrested for theft. The money was recovered as it was in her possession. The female was charged with theft under $5,000.00 and released on paperwork with a future court date. 

 

Domestic Disturbance

On December 29, 2022 at about 10:00am, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a domestic disturbance at a residence on Glengarry Rd. Officers attended and investigation revealed that a male and female couple at the residence engaged into a verbal altercation. It escalated to the point where the 39-year-old male, caused damage to items of sentimental value to his partner. This caused a minor physical altercation. Luckily, no one was seriously injured in the incident. The male was arrested for mischief under $5,000.00 and breach of recognizance as he did have a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The male was later released on new conditions for the above mentioned offences and issued a future court date.    

 

December 23 – 27, 2022 News Release

Suspicious Person was Arrested for Drug and Ammunition Possession

On December 23, 2022 at about 1:00pm, the Brockville Police Service received information of a suspicious person. It was reported that a male was sleeping in his truck, in a parking lot at the intersection of Parkedale Ave. and Windsor Dr. Officers arrived to check on the 32-year-old male and quickly found that he was in possession of a quantity of cocaine and fentanyl. The male was arrested for possession of the substances and when searched, officers located 9mm and 12 gauge shotgun ammunition. It was also learned that he was on probation with conditions not to possess ammunition. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of four counts of fail to comply with probation, three counts of possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition, possession of fentanyl and possession of cocaine.

 

Domestic Disturbance

On December 23, 2022 at about 11:30pm, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a domestic dispute at a residence on Kensington Pkwy. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the couple involved. It was learned that the couple engaged in an argument which escalated to the point where the 23-year-old female, assaulted her boyfriend by striking him in the head and biting his arm. The female was arrested and taken into custody. The female had been consuming alcohol which may have been a factor in the incident. Once sober, she was released with conditions and a future court date for the offence of assault.

 

Impaired Driving

On Christmas Day at about 10:00pm, officers from the Brockville Police Service continued their commitment to helping ensure our community’s roads are safe. Officers setup a R.I.D.E. program and checked multiple drivers regarding their sobriety. One driver, a 50-year-old male, was traveling home after having drinks at a family function. The male was given a roadside breath test, which, resulted in a fail. He was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. There, it was determined that he was driving over the legal limit. His vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. He was released with a future court date.

 

Mischief Caused During a Disturbance

On December 27, 2022 at about 3:00pm, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a disturbance at a residence on Bartholomew St. Officers attended and the investigation revealed that a 19-year-old male attended the residence and engaged in an argument with another male who resides at the location. The argument escalated to the point where the 19-year-old male kicked the door to the residence causing damage. Officers did locate the male in the area and placed him under arrest for the offence of mischief under $5,000.00. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Bail Violations

On December 27, 2022 at about 9:30pm, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about unwanted individuals at a location on King ST. W. Officers arrived on scene and located a female and 23-year-old male in the area. It was learned that the male was on probation conditions to abstain from communication with the female he was accompanied by. He was placed under arrest for failing to comply with probation and later released with new conditions and a future court date.    

 

December 19 – 22, 2022 News Release

Impaired Driving

On December 21, 2022 at about 1:00am, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a suspected impaired male observed stumbling and entering a white GMC pickup truck in the area of Water St. The male was observed driving away while police were on route to the area. Officers did locate the suspect vehicle stopped at the intersection of King St. W. and Courthouse Ave. The 41-year-old, male driver was passed out at the wheel with the vehicle in drive and a foot on the brake. Officers arrested the male for impaired operation. He was transported to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. There, he gave breath samples which confirmed he was operating the vehicle well over the legal limit. His licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and he was charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. Once sober, he was released with a future court date.

 

Stolen Vehicles

This is information to notify the public regarding the continuing concern of stolen vehicles. Since December 19, 2022 and through this morning, we have had reports of six vehicles stolen from various locations in the city. This includes private residences and dealerships. We continue to notice a trend in relation to Dodge/Jeep products. Out of the six vehicles stolen, four were Jeep products and one was a Dodge Ram pickup. Please be aware if you are an owner of these products and if you notice anything suspicious, please call the Brockville Police Service for assistance.

 

 

December 16 – 20, 2022 News Release

Theft Leads to Arrest

On December 16, 2022 at about 11:00am, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of theft from the Luella Charlotte Boutique on King St. W. The suspect was a 55-year-old male and was located in the nearby area. Once arrested the accused was searched and officers found evidence of at least three more thefts from the downtown area. The property was recovered and he was later released with a court date for the offence of theft under $5,000.00.

 

Disturbance Leads to Arrest

On December 17, 2022 at about 9:30am, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a 29-year-old female, causing issues at Revelation Martial Arts on California Ave. Information was that one of the youth students was having issues during the class and was being asked to leave class for the day. The female mentioned above is the parent of the youth. They became hostile towards staff. She engaged in a verbal dispute and picked up a laptop threatening to throw it. Police arrived to attempt to de-escalate as the disturbance was taking place in front of other students. As officers were removing the female from the building, she assaulted one of the officers by throwing a half-full cup of tea at them. She was then arrested for failing to leave when directed under the Trespass to Property Act, assault police and resist arrest. She was later released with a court date for these charges. No one was injured in the incident.

 

Impaired Driving

On December 18, 2022 at about 5:00am, the Brockville Police Service received a report of a vehicle off the roadway on Centennial Rd. at Windsor Dr. Officers attended and located the vehicle and the lone 22-year-old female who was operating the vehicle. She was showing signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for impaired operation. She was taken into custody for further testing which confirmed that she was driving while over the legal limit. As a result, the vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. She was released with a future court date.

 

Domestic Dispute and Impaired Driving

On December 18, 2022 at about 9:45pm, the Brockville Police Service received information of a domestic disturbance at a residence on King St. W. Information was that a 36-year-old male and 36-year-old female, were involved in a heated dispute. It was known that both of the individuals involved were on bail conditions to abstain from communication with one another. When officers arrived on scene the male had left prior to police arrival. Investigation revealed that the male had assaulted the female’s daughter, forcibly confined them in the residence and damaged items in the residence. Officer’s attended to the address where the male involved lives. It was believed that he had possibly had driven away while impaired. His vehicle was located at the residence parked, unattended and running with the door left open. The male was located in the rear yard of a neighbouring residence. As officer’s approached, the male fled but was arrested after a short foot chase. He was arrested in relation to the domestic investigation and also impaired driving. He was taken for further testing which he refused to comply with. After further investigation it was determined that the 36-year-old female was arrested and charged with fail to comply with undertaking and held for a bail hearing. The male was charged with two counts of assault, forcible confinement, mischief under $5,000.00, operation while impaired, refusal to comply with demand, resist arrest and fail to comply with undertaking. His vehicle was towed and licence was suspended. He was also held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Stolen Vehicle Recovered and Suspect Involved in a Break and Enter

On December 19, 2022 at about Midnight, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a vehicle abandoned in the ditch on Laurier Blvd. The vehicle was described as still running, in drive and stuck in a snowbank. There was damage done to the vehicle. At the same time of this report, there was another call of an alarm at the Levac Supplies business in the nearby area. Officers attended and found that the building had been broken into. Officers searched the building and located a 47-year-old male hiding inside. He was arrested. Further investigation revealed that he was also responsible for the vehicle that was recovered. In fact, it was learned that the vehicle was involved in a carjacking out of Ottawa. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of possession of property obtained by crime and break and enter. Further investigation is being conducted by the Ottawa Police in relation to the carjacking incident.     

 

December 13 – 16, 2022 News Release

Motor Vehicle Collision

On December 13, 2022 at about 5:00pm, the Brockville Police Service received a report of a motor vehicle collision in the area of James St. W. and Buell St. Brockville Fire Department and Paramedics were in attendance as well. The drivers were a 71-year-old male and a 35-year-old female. Both drivers were taken to the Brockville General Hospital and suffered what can be described as on-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles involved were demolished. The investigation is still ongoing. No charges have been laid at this time. Once the investigation is completed, any appropriate charges will be issued. 

 

R.I.D.E / Impaired Driving

The Brockville Police Service have continued with the commitment to keeping our roads safe. R.I.D.E. programs were initiated and specifically on the evening of December 13, 2022 approximately 40 vehicles were stopped and drivers were checked regarding their sobriety. While performing R.I.D.E., officers were called away to a call of a road rage type incident. The driver’s actually attended to the Brockville Police Service during the incident where they engaged in a verbal altercation. While officers were investigating they discovered that one driver involved was a 28-year-old male, who had been driving under the influence of alcohol. The male failed a roadside screening device sample test. He was placed under arrest for further testing which confirmed he was operating while over the legal limit. His driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.

Additional R.I.D.E. programs have been completed as well. On the evening of December 15, 2022, officers stopped approximately 130 vehicles. It is comforting to know that every driver checked at this check point, was driving while sober and safe. 

 

Warrants

On December 14, 2022 the Brockville Police Service executed two arrest warrants. Both individuals arrested turned themselves into police. One was a 47-year-old male, who was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court for a charge of fail to comply with undertaking conditions. The second was a 27-year-old male, who had a warrant for a charge of failing to comply with probation. Both were released shortly after their arrest with paperwork and a future court date.    

December 9 – 13, 2022 News Release

R.I.D.E. Program Leads to Impaired Enforcement

During the Christmas Holiday Season the Brockville Police Service has committed to focusing on R.I.D.E. programs, to help keep our roads safe. On the night of December 11, 2022 between the hours of 8:30pm and 10:30pm, officers were setup in various locations throughout the city. During that time there were two specific incidents of note. The first was a 31-year-old male who was stopped and provided a breath sample registering an alert on the screening device. This resulted in a three day licence suspension. The second was a 67-year-old male who provided a breath sample registering a fail on the screening device. He was arrested and taken into custody for further testing. It was confirmed that he was operating while over the legal limit. His vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. The Brockville Police Service is committed to keeping our roads safe.

 

Wanted Person – Warrant Executed

On December 9, 2022 the Brockville Police Service received information form the Toronto Police Service and the Halton Regional Police, of a 38-year-old male in custody who was wanted on charges out of Brockville. The male was wanted for 21 various criminal charges stemming from investigations on December 25 and 26, 2021. These charges include but are not limited to; Impaired, possession of fentanyl, obstruct police, possession of property obtained by crime, nine counts of identity theft, prohibited driving, dangerous driving and robbery. There was also a warrant for failing to attend court on some of the above mentioned charges. The male was returned to Brockville and held in custody for a bail hearing.
