January 21 – 22, 2021 News Release

Assault

On January 21st at 3:15 PM officers responded to a downtown residence in response to a neighbour dispute over the noise of a dog.  The dispute had escalated to an assault when a 36 year old female struck the victim in the face.  She was arrested and charged with the assault.  She will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

 

Impaired

On January 22, 2021 at 1:52 AM officers on routine patrol stopped a vehicle traveling on Hubbell Street.  The officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of the driver and made a roadside demand for a breath test.  The 36 year old female driver was arrested for driving with more than double the legal limit of alcohol in her system.  Her vehicle was impounded and her driver’s licence has been suspended to 90 days.  She will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge where upon conviction she could another suspension of driving privileges for a year.

January 15 – 18, 2021 News Release

Theft

The Brockville Police Service is investigating a theft that occurred on James Street West.  Between the late evening hours on January 17th to the morning of the 18th, an unknown suspect(s) broke into a shed at the residence cutting the lock and taking over $500 worth of tools.  Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

 

Warrants

On January 15th, 2021 at 1:10 PM officers on routine patrol located a male at the James Street West and Wall Street.  The 39 year old male is well known to police who were aware that there was a probation warrant for his arrest.  The male was arrested without incident and issued a court date in the future.

 

January 12 – 14, 2021 News Release

Package theft

On January 7th at 9:12 am, an unknown suspect walked up the front steps of a residence on Byng Avenue and stole a package (please see attached footage).  The male is described as, white male 20-30 years of age, wearing a Chicago Bulls hoodie and black pants.  The male was driving a 4 door grey sedan.  Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cst. Suspicious Person

On January 12th at 8:00 PM police were called to an apartment building on Pearl Street for a male passed out in the hallway.  The 34 year old male was arrested as he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Drug Offences

On January 12th at 9:10 PM a 36 year old male was arrested for his outstanding warrant when he was observed by an officer on routine patrol. The male was arrested on Buell Street and searched incident to that arrest.  He was found to be in possession of a small wooden bat up a sleeve, a switch blade knife and a small amount of a controlled substance.  The male was held in custody and is now facing more charges including possession of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

January 11 – 12, 2020 News Release

Assault

On January 11th, 2021 at 10:41 AM the Brockville Police Service responded to an assault complaint at the corner of Pearl Street and William Street.  The complainant reported he was sprayed with mace by his attacker.  Both the accused and complainant are known to each other and the assault was the end result of a dispute over property. The 33 year old accused male was later arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.  Officers did recover dog repellant on the accused.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

Bail Violations

A 33 year old female was arrested, charged and held for bail for mischief, breach of probation and bail violations after police were called to a residence in the center of the city early this morning.  The female attended her former residence and broke a window prompting the owners to call police.  Officers attended and arrested the female without incident. 

 

Seeking Public Assistance – Fraud

Fraud Suspect

The Brockville Police Service is requesting your assistance in identifying a fraud suspect.  On November 4th, 2020 the unidentified male entered the TD Bank on Parkedale Ave. and attempted to open an account using false information.  Staff at TD became suspicious as they discovered that the male was using someone else’s identification.  Police were then contacted and the male left the area prior to police arrival.   Please contact Cst. January 6 – 7, 2021 News Release

Disturbance

On January 6th, 2021 at 6:00 AM the Brockville Police Service responded to a disturbance at a residence in the center of the city.  A 33 year old female was arrested during the incident when officers discovered that she had a warrant for her arrest from Cornwall.  She was then turned over to Cornwall Police.

 

Suspicious Person:

On January 6th, 2021 at 4:15 PM the Brockville Police Service were called to the Pearl Street and Perth Street area for a male acting erratically.  The male had destroyed driveway reflectors from a residence and was yelling at people passing by.  The 25 year old male was arrested and charged with mischief.  He was further charged with failing to comply with a probation order and carrying a concealed weapon.  A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of a large knife on his person.

 

January 4 – 5, 2021 News Release

Vehicles being entered

The Brockville Police has received several reports of vehicles being entered in the downtown core.  We are encouraging residents to keep their vehicles locked and contact the service of any suspicious observations. 

 

Bail violations

A 20 year old male was arrested on January 4 at 5:30 PM for not abiding by his release conditions.  Officers were called to a residence in the center of the city for an unwanted guest type of call.  Officers attended the address and found the male to be non-compliant with his release conditions.  He was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

January 3 – 4, 2021 News Release

Warrant

A 54 year old male was arrested on January 3rd, 2021 at 7:30 AM after officers attended to a north end hotel for a domestic disturbance type call.  The male had a warrant issued for his arrest for a bail violation in early December. The male was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

December 28 – 30, 2020 News Release

Break and Enter

On December 28th the Brockville Police Service were contacted about a break-in to the Fulford Academy on King Street East.  The break-in occurred sometime from the 26th of December until the reporting date.  Video footage was retrieved a suspect was identified.  On December 29th at 11:03 AM officers were dispatched to a call for a suspicious male walking on Perth Street.  The 25 year old male was making threatening comments to people that he passed by.  He was located by officers a short distance away who recognized him as the suspect from the break and enter.  He was arrested without incident and will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge of Break and Enter.

 

December 25 – 28, 2020 News Release

Indecent Act

On December 28, 2020 at 3:25 PM a 56 year old male from Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with 1) Indecent Act 2) Mischief 3) Breach of Probation.  The accused had been inside the vestibule of Scotia Bank located at 7 King St W, Brockville, ON where he accosted the complainant asking questions about sexual orientation, asking for money, the accused then began fondling himself in front of the complainant committing an indecent act. This was reported to the police and the accused was arrested after police received a second call about the male blocking access to another ATM. The accused was held in custody for a show cause hearing.

Police Chaplain Makes Arrest

Our police Chaplain (who is also employed here as a special constable) was on a ride along with one of our members on the December 28th at 11:08 AM.  This is when the chaplain recognized a 19 year old male that was wanted for bail violations stemming from previous charges of obstructing police.  The male fled when police approached, but was captured by the rugby player turned chaplain.  The accused was also charged with being in possession of methamphetamine that was found on his person at the time of the arrest.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Robbery

On December 18th, 2020 at 1:44 PM the Brockville Police Service responded to a disturbance on Perth Street.  The witness observed a male smash out a window to a residence and contacted police.  That 28 year old male is located and charged with mischief.  Further information is received that this mischief incident is a result of this male being assaulted and robbed for a cell phone.  As a result a 35 year old male suspect is identified for the robbery.  That male is located on the 24th of December at 8:31 AM and attempts to flee police.  After a short foot pursuit the male is arrested and charged for the robbery.  Both parties were released from custody with future court dates.

Theft

The Brockville Police Service received a theft call on 25th December from the Shawarma Garden located on King Street West.  The incident had transpired at approximately 3:18 PM that day and involved the theft of a Cash Register Tablet/Monitor.  We are looking for the public’s assistance.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brockville Police at 613-342-0127 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
