Harassment/Assault:

On the 21^st of September, 2019 at approximately 2pm police received a call from a 48 year old male from out of town reporting harassment from a local 42 year old male. The 42 year old male was bound by conditions that he not to be out without his surety. It was reporting that he was following the complainant around town against his conditions. He was located and arrested for the breach charges. Further information is that at some point the accused had assaulted the complainant as well, and will be charged with assault. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Weapons:

On the 22^nd of September, 2019 at approximately 3pm police received a call to attend the area of Windsor Drive in the City. It was reported that a 33 year old male approached a vehicle requesting a lighter for his cigarette. When the occupants declined to assist this male he was observed throwing what appeared to be a throwing star at the vehicle. He then brandished a small pocket knife and ran up to the car; the occupants then sped away fearing their safety and contacted the police. The male was located and arrested; he was searched and was found to be in possession of a small quantity of heroin. He will be charged with offences of possession of a weapon, assault with a weapon, possession of drugs, and possession of a weapon while prohibited. He will be held in custody today for a bail hearing.

Warrants:

A 20 year old male was arrested yesterday for an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.  Officers located the male at a downtown residence.  A search incident to arrest led to further charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).  The male has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Ride Program/Bail Violation:

A RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program was conducted last night.  Over 50 vehicles passed through the RIDE program without any alcohol related infractions.  Officers did observe a 23 year old female who was a passenger in one of the vehicles.  The female had a warrant for her arrest.  She was arrested without incident and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Warrants:

On September 19, 2019 at 12:05 a.m. officers on routine patrol observed a cyclist without a light on his bicycle.  The 26 year old male was stopped for that infraction and identified.  It was discovered that the male had a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court to answer to a mischief charge from 2018.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On September 19, 2019 a 35 year old male turned himself in to police when he realized that he had missed a court date and a warrant had been issued for his arrest.  He was arrested and released with a future court date.

Lastly, on September 17^th a 1:30 p.m. a 27 year old female surrendered to court staff as there was a warrant for her arrest for failing to attend court.  She was brought before the court that day and provided with a future court date.

Mischief:

On September 19, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. two young people were arrested and charged with mischief.  The youth were throwing bricks at passing VIA rail cars.  The will be appearing in court at a later date.

Arrest:

On the 27th of August, 2019 at approximately 11:15 p.m. members of the Brockville Police Service responded to a stabbing that occurred in the area of John Street and Pearl Street West in the City of Brockville. As a result of the incident, a male was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On the 16^th of September 2019 officers arrested a Timothy Ryan Smith, 36 years, in relation to that incident.  Smith has been held in custody pending a bail hearing charged with multiple criminal code offences including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

Theft:

On August 17^th the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a lost wallet.  The complainant advised that his credit card had been used multiple times.  Officers identified a suspect through CCTV footage. On the 9^th of September that 56 year old male was arrested and charged with using a stolen credit card, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.

Warrant:

At 4:50 p.m. on September 9^th, 2019 a 35 year old male was located on King Street by officers on routine patrol. The male, who was on probation, had had a warrant issued for his arrest by his probation officer for failing to comply with a condition.  The male was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Warrant:

On the 30^th of August 2019 a bench warrant was issued for a 19 year old female when she failed to attend for her court appearance.  That female was observed riding a bicycle on Parkedale Ave. without lights on the 10^th of September at 12:30 a.m.  She was stopped for the offence of not having a light on her bike. Officers obtained her identity and learned that there was the warrant for her arrest.  She was arrested on the strength of the warrant.  She was later released with a future court date.

Suspicious Person:

At 2:30 a.m. on the 10^th of September 2019 officers were waved down by a concerned citizen reporting that a male was acting strangely around a vehicle on John St.  The officers approached the 28 year old male and learned that he had a warrant for his arrest from Kingston.  He was arrested without incident and returned to the Kingston Police Service.

Suspicious Person/Possess Stolen Property:

At 2:45 p.m. on September 10^th, 2019 officer were called to the rear of a store on Parkedale Ave.  The caller stated that there were three males on the property.  Officers attend and located the males.  A 45 year old male was identified and officers discovered that he had a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court.  He was arrested and a search incident to arrest led to the discovery of stolen credit cards.  He was later released with a future court date being charged with possession of property obtained by crime and failing to attend court.

Bail Violations:

On the 9^th of September 2019 at 1:30 a.m. police the Brockville Police Service responded to a disturbance at a King St. West. apartment building.  When officers arrived they discovered a 43 year old male in the area in breach of a court ordered condition.  The male was on a recognizance of bail with the condition not to be within 50 meters of that area.  He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing. It is believed he was the source of the disturbance.

Impaired:

At 4:20 p.m. on the 8^th of September 2019 a 52 year old male drove to the Brockville Police Service to register a bicycle.  The officer dealing with the male detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the male’s breath.  The male then failed a roadside screening device for having alcohol in his system.  The male was arrested and provided samples of his breath for analysis.  The male had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.  He has had his vehicle impounded for 7 days; his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.

Traffic:

On the 5^th of September 2019 at 9:35 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The 51 year old driver was on conditions not to operate a vehicle without an ignition interlock system. This system is required in certain circumstances upon conviction of an impaired driving offence.  He was charged with speeding and driving without an interlock device.  His vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

RIDE Program:

A RIDE program was conducted by officers from the Brockville Police last night.  As a result of that program officers laid 2 charges under the liquor licence for having open alcohol in a motor vehicle and one 3 day suspension for a 67 year old male that registered a “warn” on a roadside screening device.

Almost got away with it:

On the 23^rd of August 2019 officers were conducting a RIDE program.  A vehicle came through that program and a passenger was found to have an open bottle of alcohol in that vehicle.  The male identified himself with a driver’s licence and he was charged accordingly.  

On the 5^th of September 2019 at 1:50 a.m. officers dealt with that male at a traffic stop.  The officer that had dealt with him on the 23^rd of August realized that the male had falsely identified himself at that RIDE program.  This time his true identity was revealed.  A 33 year old male has now been arrested and charged with personation, obstruct police, breach of probation, having 2 driver’s licenses, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited, possession of  a controlled substance and possession of  a prohibited weapon (butterfly knife).

Scam:

The Brockville Police Service has received reports of a yet another telephone scam.  The “send money” scam has been around for some time, but has taken on a new script.  A call is made by the suspect to the victim.  The caller indicates that they are with a law firm and a loved one has committed a criminal offence.  The fraudsters then request money from the victim so that they can be bailed out of jail or for lawyer fees. 

Traffic Safety:

To coincide with the start of a new school year officers conducted some traffic enforcement at community safety zones.  In all 2 Highway Traffic Act charges were laid for various offences and 5 warnings issued.  None of the infractions involved school buses.

Domestic Assault:

A 42 year old male is facing charges of assault after police were called to an address in the center of the city.  The female complainant called 911 to report the incident.  The male had assaulted the complainant after a heated argument. He was arrested without incident and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Bail Violation/traffic stop:

On the 1^st of September 2019 at 5:00 p.m. a Quebec plated vehicle was stopped on North Augusta Road for speeding.  The officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the 22 year old driver’s breath.  It was discovered that he was on bail conditions to not consume any alcohol.  A roadside screening device was used on the driver to determine that level of alcohol in his system.  Although his alcohol level was not enough to warrant a driver’s licence suspension it was enough to charge him with breaching his bail condition.  He was also charged with speeding.  He was released at the scene with a future court date.

Weapons:

On August 27^th, 2019 around 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a north end residence to check on the wellbeing of a female.  Officers attended the address and realized that the male in the residence was on court ordered conditions not to be around the female.  The male refused to open the door to officers. Fearing for the safety of the female, officers made entry to the apartment and were met by a male armed with a golf club and a large kitchen knife.  Officers successfully deployed a conducted energy weapon on the male.  The 31 year old male was taken into custody and will be appearing for a bail hearing today. He has been charged with assault police. The female was not in the apartment, but was located after the incident. 

Motor Vehicle Collision:

On the 27^th of August 2019 at 10:36 p.m. police along with paramedics responded to “child struck” motor vehicle collision at the 1 Magedoma Blvd, the Memorial Centre Parking lot.  It was reported that a 7 year old boy was clipped by a SUV.  The child was transported to Brockville General Hospital for minor injuries. 

Hockey rinks and ball diamonds are busy spots this time of year; please use caution and reduce your speed. 

Stabbing:

On the 27th of August, 2019 at approximately 11:15 p.m. members of the Brockville Police Service responded to a stabbing that occurred in the area of John Street and Pearl Street West in the City of Brockville. As a result of the incident, a male was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident, or who feel they have information relevant to the investigation. Counterfeit:

On the 3^rd of August 2019 at 8:50 p.m. an unknown suspect entered the Tim Horton’s on Jefferson Dr. and used a counterfeit $100.  We are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the male.  Members of the public are asked to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127.
