August 26 – 27, 2019 Incidents

Trespasser:

On the 26th of August, 2019 shortly after noon in the south end of town, police received numerous complaints regarding a 49 year old male trespassing at his residence. He is unwelcome and the complainant was requesting police remove him.  The male had left prior to police arrival, however was located a short distance away and served with a future court date for trespassing.

Domestic:

On the 26th of August, 2019 shortly after 11pm police received a call regarding a domestic occurring in a moving vehicle in the north end of town. The 60 year old male driver was observed at several times grabbing the 56 year old female passenger, and her yelling which alerted citizens to contact the police. The vehicle was intercepted by police where the driver was arrested for assault. He was released with a future court date. The female passenger was not injured in the incident.

 

August 23 – 25, 2019 Incidents

Warrant:

On August 24th, 2019 the Brockville Police Service responded to a call of a suspicious person walking on Water Street.  When officers arrived in the area shortly after 3:00 p.m. they recognized the 31 year old female.  The officers were aware that the female was wanted for failing to attend court.   The female fled when she observed police.  After a short foot pursuit she was arrested.  She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. 

Impaired:

On the 24th of August at 9:25 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle on Central Ave.  Officers detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath.  The 36 year old female driver failed a roadside screening device and was arrested for driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol.  She was subsequently transported to a breath technician and provided two samples of her breath.  She was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and drive with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in her blood.  Her driver’s licence has been automatically suspended for 30 days and her vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Break and Enter:

A 49 year old male was arrested on Friday and charged with break and enter to 5 Wall St..  The incident was reported on the 20th of August and a suspect was identified.  Officers located that suspect on the 23rd and made the arrest.  He was released with a future court date.

 

Impaired by Drug:

 

On the 24th of August 2019 at 12:44 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle on Jefferson Ave.  The officer determined that the 19 year old driver was impaired by drug.  The male was arrested and charged with impaired operation.  The male has had his driver’s licence suspended for 30 days and his vehicle impounded for 7.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

August 23, 2019 News Release

Theft Suspect:

A photo of a theft suspect at the Quesada Restaurant was released earlier this week in attempts to learn her identity.  The 29 year old suspect has now been identified and will be charged with theft when she is located.  Once again we would like to thank our community partners and members of the public for their assistance.

August 19 – 20, 2019 Incidents

Shoplifting:

A 47 year old male from the Ottawa area was arrested on Tuesday afternoon when he attempted to leave the Superstore on Parkedale Avenue with approximately $1600 worth of merchandise.  The male fled on foot when he was approached by the loss prevention officer.   He was located a short distance away by police.  The male was later identified with help from the loss prevention officer as he had been involved in similar thefts in the Ottawa area. He was charged with theft, obstructing police and released with a future court date.

Theft:

The Brockville Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in learning the identity of the theft suspect pictured below.  On August 19th at 6:40 p.m. the unidentified female entered the Quesada Restaurant on Parkedale Ave, purchased some food, but then proceeded to steal the tip jar.  Please contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) with any information.

April Stabbing Update

On the 13th of April, 2019 Brockville Police Service responded to a reported stabbing in the area of Broadway Avenue and Davison Avenue.

As a result of the investigation, as of the 16th of August, 2019, forty two year old Dennis Hill of Carleton Place, fifty three year old David Fortune, forty five year old Elizabeth McLean and thirty two year old Shauna Richardson all of Brockville have been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Weapons Dangerous and Robbery in connection with the case. All charged parties will appear in Brockville court at a later date.

August 16 – 18, 2019 Incidents

Mental Health Apprehension:

On the 17th of August 2019 at 11:40 a.m. officers responded to assist ambulance with a call for a suicidal male that had taken pills.  When officers arrived on scene they were met by the subject at the residence who was now armed with a knife and was holding it to his neck.  Officers managed to deescalate the situation and have the male surrender the knife.  He was taken to the Brockville General Hospital for a psychiatric assessment.

 

 Assault:

A 20 year old male is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm from an incident on the 17th of August 2019.  The 42 year old victim was with the accused at an address on William St.  Without provocation, the accused repeatedly stuck the victim in the face causing significant injury.  The 20 year old was arrested today as he turned himself in to police.

August 15 – 16, 2019 Incidents

Motor Vehicle Collisions:

August 16, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision at Centennial Road and Stewart Boulevard.  A pickup truck was south bound on Stewart Blvd. making a left hand turn on the advanced green light to east bound Centennial Road.  A north bound Saturn failed to stop at the red light and collided with the pickup truck.  The two occupants of the Saturn were transported to Brockville General Hospital for their non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation is continuing and witnesses are asked to contact Cst. Serge Landry at 613-342-0127 ext. 6067.

This accident required several lane closures so that emergency personnel could attend to the vehicles safely.  We appreciate the public’s patience when dealing with these emergencies.

A second collision occurred while officers were dealing with the above incident.  Two vehicles were south bound on Stewart Blvd. near the Hyundai dealership.  A small SUV slowed for traffic and was rear ended by a white 4 door Hyundai.  There were not any injuries as a result of this collision, but the Hyundai had to be towed from the scene.  Officers managed to keep both north and south bound traffic moving although at a reduced speed.

A third collision today at 12:20 p.m. also caused some minor delays.  This accident occurred at Stewart Blvd. and Jefferson Drive.  A red pickup truck failed to yield the right of way. The pickup was travelling south bound on Stewart Blvd. and turned left across Stewart Blvd in front of a north bound van.  The collision sent the van into a parked Honda Civic, then up onto the sidewalk on the north east corner.  All parties were treated for their minor injuries at the scene by emergency personnel.  The driver of the red pickup truck was charged with “left turn failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.”

 

Assault/serious incident:

The Brockville Police Service is currently investigating a stabbing incident which took place late yesterday afternoon off Delhi Street in the city.

Officers were notified around 6:30 pm that a 17 year old male youth had attended to the Brockville General Hospital with non-life threatening stab wounds as a result of an altercation that had just taken place in the area of Perth and Delhi Streets. When officers attended to the area they found another 16 year old male youth also suffering minor injuries which required medical attention and he was subsequently transported to Brockville General Hospital for treatment. Both youths were later released from hospital.

Patrol Officers and Detectives remained for several hours speaking with youths and conducting interviews while the scene was examined by the services Forensic Identification officer Detective Steve Rogers.

August 14 – 15, 2019 Incidents

Theft/Warrant/Counterfeit:

The Brockville Police Service responded to a theft complaint at the Brockville Public Library around 12:40 p.m. yesterday.  The complainant had left their cell phone in one of the charging stations and when they went to retrieve they discovered it was gone.  The suspect was identified through CCTV footage. Officers located the male shortly after 2:00 p.m.  The 20 year old male was arrested for theft and held in custody as he was on a bail release from previous charges.

Located with the above male was a 42 year old male from the Cobourg area.  The male had been previously identified as a suspect in a theft from the LCBO on Parkedale Avenue.  He was arrested for that theft occurrence.  A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of a quantity of counterfeit US bills.  He was subsequently charged for being in possession of those bills.  These bills have been circulating throughout the city.  They are easily identifiable as they have oriental writing on them.

August 13 – 14, 2019 Incidents

Public Intoxication:

A 20 year old female was arrested Tuesday morning for being intoxicated in a public place.  She was located on William St. after police were called to a dispute in the area.  She was held in custody until sober.

August 12 – 13, 2019 Incidents

Public Intoxication:

On August 12, 2019 at 7:08 a.m. officers responded to the Subway Restaurant on Parkedale Ave for an intoxicated male.  Officers attended and arrested the male due to his level of intoxication.  He was held in custody until sober.

Fraud:

On the 12th of August, 2019 at 8:35 am officers received a call from a local taxi company reporting that 2 males refused to pay their fare. Police located the one 20 year old male who was observed carrying knives on his legs. He was arrested and released with a future court date. The second 44 year old male was to be located and charged.  Later that night the duo did it again; at 5pm police received a call from a different local taxi company as well as one of the males was in possession of a knife. Both the same 20 and 44 year olds were located again and arrested. Both were held in custody and charged with the frauds, carry concealed weapons.

Assault:

On the 12th of August, 2019 shortly after 4:00 p.m. a child custody exchange was occurring in the north end of town between 2 sets of parents. The mother of the child as well as the father’s new girlfriend got into a heated exchange that turned physical. The 34 year old female was observed by citizens in the area assault the mother of the children, 35 year old female. Police were contacted and charged the 34 year old with assault. She was released with a future court date.

Theft:

On the 13th of August, 2019 shortly after midnight police received a call regarding a suspect on bike that had just stole 2 Adirondack chairs from Rona. The 30 year old male was located a short distance away towing along with the stolen merchandise and was arrested. He was charged with theft and released with a future court date.

Liquor Licence Act:

On the 13th of August, 2019 at 1:15am police received a call from a local establishment in the south regarding 2 males refusing to pay their bar tab. They were located outside the bar and refused to leave the area. The 27 and 57 year old males were arrested for being intoxicated in public place, brought to cells and released when sober with a $65 fine.

Disturbance:

On the 12th of August, 2019 at 7:30pm there was a disturbance in the area of Blockhouse Island involving a group of males, and possibly a vehicle. Police are seeking witnesses to this event.
