August 9 – 11, 2019 Incidents

There were no major incidents reported from Ribfest, hope citizens were able to get out and enjoy the free entertainment while enjoying some good quality food.

Domestics:

Over the weekend police attended to 4 domestics which resulted in charges:

On the 9th of August, 2019 at approximately 5:50pm police received a call from a resident in the north end advising of a female and a child screaming to call the police. The 29 year old male entered the residence of his 29 year old female spouse and their 2 year old child. The male became enraged at the women pushing her whilst in the presence of their child. A struggle ensued over who had custody of the child and the male left. He was located where he was arrested for assault and released with a future court date, and conditions not to contact her. Neither the victim nor the child received injuries.  The women had made plans earlier with her spouse to attend a local establishment that evening. At approximately 2am (August 10th) the male knowing this attended the bar and began yelling and screaming at her. He was located and arrested again, causing him to be held in custody for a bail hearing.

On the 10th of August, 2019 at approximately 1230am another call of a domestic was called into the station, reporting two individuals having a physical confrontation on their front lawn in the center of town. Upon arrival it was learned that the 67 year old male had assaulted his 49 year old spouse. He was located and arrested for assault and released with a future court date.

On the 11th of August, 2019 at approximately 130am police received a 911 call from distraught 30 year old female caller. Police located the female on the rail overpass on the phone. It was determined there was an argument between her and 36 year old boyfriend where she had shoved him. She was arrested for assault and released with a future court date. He received minor injuries.

On the 11th of August, 2019 at approximately 9am police received a call from a 31 year old male advising that his girlfriend was attacking him at their residence in the center of town. Upon arrival police located the caller as well as the 21 year old female. She was arrested for assault and released with a future court date.

 

 

Impaired:

 

On the 10th of August, 2019 police received a call from a citizen reporting a possible impaired driver operating a motorcycle in the area of Ormond Street. Police located the 57 year old male driver where he attempted to identify himself using a store rewards card. He was showing obvious signs to the officer of his impairment to operate a motor vehicle. He was arrested and brought to the station for samples. He registered over double the legal limit, his vehicle was towed for 7 days and was given a 90 day license suspension as well a future court date.

August 7 – 8, 2019 Incidents

Traffic stop/Personation:

On the 7th of August, 2019 a traffic stop was conducted at approximately 9:30 ma with a vehicle in the superstore parking lot. The passenger of the vehicle was known to police and was wanted for possession of stolen property, fraudulent use of credit card and breach of probation in relation to an incident where he was using a stolen credit card throughout the city. The driver used a false name to attempt and trick officers into believing him. Well we caught on and he was arrested for personation, there was also warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court. They were both released with future court dates.

Drugs:

On the 8th of August, 2019 at approximately 8am police received a call regarding a male passed out behind the wheel at a private residence in the south end of town. The 24 year old male was spoken too; a roadside demand was made to determine if alcohol was a factor where he registered a zero. A query of the vehicle determined that it wasn’t his vehicle, and nor did he have permission to have the vehicle. Police continued to speak with the individual to determine the reason he was sleeping behind the wheel, he surrendered to police a small quantity of cocaine. He was arrested for the possession of the drugs. He was brought to the police station. He was released with a future court date e for the possession as well as take motor vehicle without consent.

 

911 Caller/Wanted:

On the 8th of August, 2019 at approximately 10am a 41 year old intoxicated male contacted 911 accidentally. As police arrived to check on his well-being it was determined there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failing to appear for court. He was arrested and released with a future court date. He was not in need of emergency services and didn’t realize he was wanted.

 

Impaired/Over 80:

On the 8th of August, 2019 at approximately 10pm a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed through the metro grocery store parking lot, it was observed not to have any lights on, the driver was then observed mounting a curb where a family was observed attempting to enjoy their ribs from Ribfest. The vehicle was stopped a short distance later, the 55 year old male was demanded to provide a roadside sample which he failed. He was arrested for over 80 and escorted to the station to provide further samples.  The samples that were taken were just over the legal limit. He was released with a future court date, a 7 day vehicle impound as well as a 90 day licence suspension.

 

Last but not least… double cell phone tickets:

On the 8th of August, 2019 at approximately 3:30pm a traffic stop was conducted in the area of Parkedale Ave and Stewart Blvd where the driver a 61 year old male was observed using his cell phone while driving. A second driver who was driving by the area felt the need to obtain a picture of the officer completing his original traffic stop. That driver a 58 year old male was also stopped as a result. They both got a $615 fine for using a hand-held device. It should be noted that this is the area where the pavement is being resurfaced and there was workers present. Please be mindful of others using the road, and keep your cell phone away while you are driving, especially don’t be taking pictures of police during a traffic stops while you are driving. 

August 6 – 7, 2019 Incidents

Recent scam alert:

We received information from a local bank regarding a customer that was reporting an attempt fraud. A Customer will get a phone call saying they are Bank Fraud Investigator, not to contact the branch as the didn’t want to interrupt their investigation. Client was to go to Shoppers Drug Mart Downtown on King and purchase Google Play cards. Then they were to meet the representative at the Branch the following day. The client was advised that their visa had been used and they needed to provide numbers on the back of the card, as well as the 3 digit number on the back of the card as well as their cell phone number. The scammer would then have the money from the play card and the client would be out the money that was spent on them.

Please be cognizant of anybody calling your identifying themselves as a member of your Bank, and go to your bank to confirm validity. Never purchase any time of google play cards, apple cards, or any cards and provide the numbers on them over the phone to anybody.

Assault:

On the 21st of July, 2019 a media release was sent out regarding a fight at the Tim Horton’s on William Street. At the time 2 of the males were located and arrested at the time, the third male fled the scene. On the 6th of August, 2019 the 19 year old male attended the Brockville Police Station for fingerprints in another incident and he was arrested and charged with assault and fail to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing.

Domestic:

On the 3rd of August, 2019 a 33 year old complainant attended the station reporting on going harassment from an ex-boyfriend a 45 year old male. At that time she wished it reported and he be contacted to stop. A traffic stop was conducted at that time of the male, he was advised at that time to cease any further communication with the complainant, or he could be charged. Well right after that conversation with police he did send more messages to her, attended her residence on several occasions and caused her to fear for her safety. She also disclosed a time where he had assaulted her back in May 2019. He was contacted and surrendered himself to police upon request. He was held for a bail hearing, and charged with Criminal Harassment and Assault.

Mischiefs:

Police are continuing to investigate the mischiefs throughout the city. They are starting to be reported to police, most recently the one at the Kingston Bridge on King Street West. Police are reaching out to those businesses that may have video that may assist in our investigation. We Will continue to update the Media in relation to any updates.

August 2 – 5, 2019 Incidents

Over the course of the weekend we have received numerous complaints regarding mischief throughout the city. Attached are photos of the images. If you or somebody you know are responsible or recognize these tags please contact the Brockville Police Service.

 

Drugs and Liquor:

On the 2nd of August, 2019 at approximately 2pm a traffic stop was conducted which revealed there to be a quantity of drugs located inside. A 28 year old male and a 45 year old female were charged with possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking. They were released with a future court date; the drugs were seized and sent away for analysis.

On the 4th of August, 2019 at approximately 5pm a 24 year old male was located passed out in the south end of town. Officers concerned he may be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs arrested the subject for his safety.  A struggle ensued during the arrest, he was controlled and handcuffs applied. A search of his person revealed him to be in possession of a quantity of drugs. He was brought to the station to sober up and when released charged with possession of a substance as well as resist arrest. There were no reported injuries to either the subject, or the officers.

On the 5th of August, 2019 at approximately 4am a 43 year old male was located in the downtown core in a very intoxicated state, again officers arrested him concerned for his safety and ability to care for himself. He was brought to the station where he was held till sober and released.

Over the course of the weekend there was 21 traffic tickets issued over the course of the weekend. These would vary from Highway Traffic Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and the Liquor Licence act offences.

July 31 – August 1, 2019 Incidents

On the 31st of July, 2019 at approximately 6:30 am a 53 year old female was located downtown and arrested for outstanding charges of failing to appear for court. She was arrested and brought to court for a bail hearing for the outstanding charges of fraud, and breaches of court orders.

 

On the 31st of July, 2019 at approximately 1:50 pm there was a car collision near the intersection of King Street West and Buell Street involving 2 vehicles. The 48 year old female driver of one of vehicles was arrested for operating her vehicle with an excess of 80mg of alcohol in her blood. She was escorted to the station where further samples were taken and registered almost double the legal limit. She was released with a future court date, her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

 

On the 31st of July, 2019 at approximately 11 pm Police received a call regarding a disturbance in the center of town regarding a dispute involving the sale of animals that resulted in it turning physical. The dispute leads to a 41 year old female being arrested for assault. She was released with a future court date.

July 30, 2019 Incidents

Impaired by Drug:

On the 30th of July, 2019 at approximately 5:15 am a local 38 year old male was located passed out behind the wheel of his pick-up truck. He was arrested for impaired by drug and escorted to the Brockville Police station. He was subjected to an exam by our Drug Recognition Expert and subsequently charged as a result of failing those tests. He was released with a future court date, and his vehicle was towed.

 

Drugs:

On the 30th of July, 2019 at approximately 11:30 pm a traffic stop was conducted on Buell Street for an improper headlight. Further investigation of the vehicle revealed there to be a quantity of drugs inside of it. A 38 year old female  was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and the 34 year old male was charged for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, concealed weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime, as well as the Cannabis Control Act. The male driver also ticket for the improper headlight. They were both released with a future court date.

 

July 26 – 29, 2019 Incidents

Shoplifter:

On the 26th of July, 2019 at approximately noon a 31 year old male was observed at a north-end store by Loss Prevention selecting a quantity of items and attempting to conceal them. He was approached and fled the store. Investigation led officers downtown to an address where he was located hiding in the basement. He was arrested for the offence of theft and released with a future court date.

 

Domestic:

On the 26th of July, 2019 at approximately 10:30pm police were called to a south end residence as a result of reports of a couple screaming and yelling at each other. The 31 year old male was on conditions from a previous arrest not to associate with the female at the residence. He was located in the backyard and arrested for the breach of recognizance, and held for a bail hearing.

 

Theft from vehicles:

On the 27th of July, 2019 a 20 year old female was located in the north end attempting to get into vehicles. She was located and arrested with theft and released with a future court date. Just a reminder to citizens to lock your vehicles up, and leave valuables out of plain sight.

Stolen Sea-Doo

July 23, 2019 Incidents

Bail Violations:

On the 23rd of July 2019 at 1:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence on Comstock Crescent for an unwanted persons call.  Officers attended the residence, but the subject had left prior to their arrival.  The 52 year old male was located a short distance away.  The male was arrested as he was on conditions not to be away from his residence.  He was then held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Public Intoxication:

On the 23rd of July 2019 at 10:45 p.m. Police received a report of an intoxicated male laying on the road on Park Street.  Officers attended the area and located a 56 year old male hiding in the bushes of a nearby residence.  The male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held in custody until sober.

July 22 – 23, 2019 Incidents

Arrest on Warrants:

  1. On the 22nd of July 2019 at 5:19 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle on Edgewood Ave. When the officer stopped the vehicle a 32 year old male fled attempting to evade police on the rail tracks.  He was arrested a short distance away.  The male had a warrant for his arrest from the OPP area.  He was turned over to their custody a short time later.
  2. On the 23rd of July 2019 at 12:32 a.m. officers from a neighbouring OPP detachment stopped a vehicle in a routine traffic stopped and arrested a 35 year old female. The female had warrants from Brockville for failing to attend court on the 28th of June as she had been charged with fraud in a previous case.  She was turned over to the Brockville Police and released with a future court date.

 

Bail Violations:

On the 22nd of June 2019 at 6:00 p.m. officers from the Brockville Police Service stopped a vehicle on Tunnel Ave.  The 30 year old driver of the vehicle was on court ordered conditions not to be out of his residence.  He was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.
