January 28 – 29, 2019 Incidents

Warrants

On January 28th a 49 year old male was arrested by Kingston Police as he had a warrant of arrest from Brockville. The male had originally been arrested and charged with theft by our service. He then failed to show up for his court appearances and a warrant was issued. The male was returned to Brockville and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Another arrest on the strength of our warrants, today a 29 year old male was arrested by police in Montreal. The male had warrants from our service dating back to 2011 for various offences stemming from an assault charge. The male then failed to show up for his court appearances and the warrants were issued. The male was returned to Brockville and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

January 27 – 28, 2019 Incidents

Break and Enter

On the 27th of January 2019 at 10:35 a.m., a 39 year old male who had just been released from serving his intermittent sentence, broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. Police were called and the male fled the area prior to police arrival. The male is now currently wanted for theft under $5000, mischief under $5000, break and enter, and 3 counts of breach of probation.

 

Domestic

On January 28, 2019 at 6:00 a.m. officers responded to a domestic dispute in the city’s south end. Officers arrived on scene and located a 35 year old male leaving the scene. The male had outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was arrested on the strength of the warrant. He has also been charged him with one count of assault in relation to the domestic occurrence. The male has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

January 24 – 25, 2019 Incidents

Motor vehicle collision

On January 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a collision at 7712 Kent Boulevard.   A blue Chevrolet Equinox that was originally parked across the street at the Dollarama had hit another vehicle sending it into a local retailer. The driver of the vehicle lost control due to a medical crisis. The vehicle travelled from the Dollarama parking lot, mounting the curb travelling west, across Kent Blvd. into the lot of 7712 Kent Blvd, striking two vehicles before hitting the parked Ford sending it into Taylor Sewing Centre.  

The driver of the Equinox was transported to Brockville General Hospital for her injuries. Luckily no one else was injured in this incident. No charges are expected in this investigation.

 

Foot Pursuit

Officers on routine patrol observed a 20 year old male breaching his probation by associating with someone that he was prohibited from communicating with. Upon seeing police he attempted to flee, but was caught by the officer giving chase. The male attempted to resist his arrest, but officers were eventually able to handcuff the male. He has now been charged with two counts of breaching his probation and resisting arrest.

 

 

January 20 – 23, 2019 Incidents

Assault

On Sunday January 20th at 5:15 pm, police responded to a residence in the center of the city for a family dispute. The dispute involved two sisters that led to an assault and charges against a 28 year old female of assault. She was released from police custody with a future court date.

 

Public Intoxication

A 64 year old male was arrested on Tuesday evening when he was located at the corner of Perth Street and King Street to intoxicated to care for himself. The male was arrested for his own safety and held in custody until sober.

 

Parking Ban

A reminder that the city wide parking ban is in place tonight from 11:00 pm – 7:00 am. Vehicles left on the street will be ticketed and towed.

 

January 18 – 20, 2019 Incidents

Missing Man

On Friday the 18th during day patrol officers were asked to search for a 37 year old male that was missing from the Ottawa Valley area by a neighboring police agency. The tip included an address. The man was found in the south end residence in Brockville safe and sound. He was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant dated back in August of 2018. He was arrested and released with a future court date.

 

Unwanted Duo

On the evening of the 18th the night patrol responded to a disturbance in the downtown core to an apartment above businesses that a young male and female were causing problems for the resident’s and needed to be removed. On police arrival the two were found in the common area of the building. These two individuals are dealt with frequently by this service. The male was on a term of probation not to be in the company of the female. The 20 year old male was arrested for the breach and the 23 year old female was sent on her way.

The following day on the 19th police responded back to the same area for a screaming female causing a scene. It was the same female from the previous night. She became so irrational that she had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. She was left in the care of the emergency room staff. No charges are pending.

 

Impaired Driving

On the evening of the 19th police responded to the witness complaint of what was described as poor driving by a motorist. The driver was spoken to at a south end service station and signs of impairment by alcohol were detected. Subsequently he was arrested and taken to police headquarters where breath samples were obtained. He was charged with impaired operation and having over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. The 24 year old male was released with a future court date.

 

 

January 17 – 18, 2019 Incidents

Drugs

On the 17th of January 2019 at 3:45 pm a male known to police was observed operating a black Ford Edge on Kensington Parkway. Officers were aware that the male was currently a disqualified driver and that he had a warrant for his arrest from the OPP area. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the male for the warrant as well as driving disqualified. He was then searched and officers located a large quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine, a loaded syringe, prescription medication, and $3800.00 in cash. The drugs seized have an estimated value of $4000.00. Police also located a “stun gun brass knuckle” and two prohibited knives. The male is currently on a prohibition not to possess any weapons.

Andrew Beauregard, 42 years of age, is now charged with 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance (drugs) for the purpose of trafficking, 3 counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, 3 counts of possession of a prohibited weapon in a motor vehicle and 3 counts of driving while disqualified.

January 16 – 17, 2019 Incidents

Fire

On January 16, 2019 at 11:25 pm, the Brockville Police Service along with the Brockville Fire Department attended to a working structure fire at 304 King Street West. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. There is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Brockville Police and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office. There were not any injuries as a result of the fire.

January 11 – 15, 2019 Incidents

On the 12th of January, 2019 police received a call to a south end establishment regarding a 19 year old intoxicated male. Upon arrival police discovered him to be causing a scene out front. He was arrested for cause disturbance by being drunk, held till sober and released with a court date.

On the 12 of January, 2019 at approximately 8pm police received a call regarding a suspicious male kicking at snow in the centre of town. When the complainant returned to his vehicle he noticed the damage. The 35 year old was identified where he was arrested with mischief, cause disturbance and breach of probation. He was released with a future court date.

On the 14th of January, 2019 police arrested several individuals for outstanding warrants.

A 25 year old male for failing to appear in court. He was released with a future court date.

A 37 year old female for being in breach of her recognizance by being at an address she wasn’t supposed to be at. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 31 year old male for outstanding breach charges, he was released with a future court date.

 

January 9 – 10, 2019 Incidents

Theft

On January 9th, 2019 a Good Samaritan of observed someone remove a package from a residence on Ormond St.  The witness believing that this male was stealing the package confronted him and took a photo. The male left the package and fled the area. Police were able to identify the suspect from the photo and have charged the 22 year old with theft.

 

Winter Control

“Like many other communities, the City of Brockville has parking restrictions in place during the winter season. These restrictions are necessary in order to ensure snow clearing activities can be completed in a safe and effective manner. In recent years, the City has modified the winter parking restrictions in order to provide more flexibility to motorists whenever weather conditions permit. In effect from November (or the first significant snowfall) through March, parking is prohibited on City streets between the hours of 2:00 am and 7:00 am) When necessary, the Public Works division will provide notice that the parking prohibition time will be extended until 11:00 pm on the evenings that snow clearing operations will taking place. The City will inform the public by 6:00 pm each evening that the operation is to take place. During winter months; check NEWS for current status and updates. January 8, 2019 Incident

Theft/assault

On the 8th of January 2019 the Brockville Police received a call to attend Wal-Mart in regards to a shoplifter. Staff indicated that a male wearing a red track suit and wearing a black bag had taken off with electronics, clothes and chips. Employees indicated that he was last seen heading towards the superstore.

A 17 year male was located and arrested a short distance away. He was brought to the station and relatives were contacted for his release.

The male was then released to his relative. As the youth exited the station he began to kick a cruiser and assault that relative. Police intervened and arrested the youth a second time. The youth then assaulted the officers. One officer was kneed in the groin, spat on and a second officer was bit.

The male was then held in custody pending a bail hearing.
