March 1 – 2, 2019 Incidents

Warrant Executed

On the 1st of March, 2019, at approximately 4:30p.m., officers from the Brockville Police Service were in the downtown area investigating an unrelated issue. While there, officers observed two local individuals who are known to be wanted for various offences. The individuals were a female, 23 years of age, who was arrested for theft under $5,000. The second was a male, 20 years of age, arrested for theft under $5,000, resist arrest, 4 counts of breaching his recognizance and 4 counts of breaching his probation. The resist arrest charge came from a short foot pursuit which resulted in the male becoming assaultive towards the officer. The female was released with a future court date and the male was held in custody for a bail hearing. No one was injured during the arrest.

Impaired Driving

On the 1st of March, 2019, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers from the Brockville Police Service received a report of a possible impaired driver operating a U-Haul moving truck. The vehicle was located in the North area of the City and stopped by police. The driver was a 48 year old, local female. She was arrested for drive over 80. She was taken back to the Brockville Police Service where she gave two breath sample readings of 100mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. Her driver’s licence was suspended and she was later released with a future court date.

Drug Trafficking

On the 2nd of March, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers from the Brockville Police Service were on patrol in the North area of the City when they came across a single vehicle collision. The vehicle had missed a turn and gone off the roadway. As officers stopped to help the driver it was discovered that there was a large quantity of drugs inside the vehicle. There originally was a concern that the driver was impaired by drugs, however, that was determined to not be the case. The driver was a 36 year old, local male, who was alone in the vehicle. It was found that he was on a recognizance of bail with a condition to abstain possession of unlawful drugs. The drugs seized in this incident were found on his person and in his vehicle. The variety of drugs located includes cocaine, methamphetamine, crystal meth, GHB and prescription codeine. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing on five counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking and breach of recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing. The total street value of the drugs is not yet known.  

February 28 – March 1, 2019 Incidents

Traffic Complaint/K9

On February 28th at 11:00 p.m. police received reports of a pick-up truck which had driven off Parkedale Avenue into a snow bank. Witnesses observed two females emerge from the vehicle and begin walking away. When officers arrived on scene the two females were no longer in sight. The service’s canine unit was deployed to track from the vehicle to the location where the accused was located confirming she was the driver who fled the scene of the collision. Diesel, our canine, was responsible for locating subject and the keys to the vehicle which were also discarded by the driver after she fled the collision. The 37 year old driver was wanted on a Canada wide parole warrant and also a suspended driver.

 

Warrants/drugs

On the 1st of March, 2019 a 28 year old female was located at the Courthouse, she was known to have an outstanding warrant out of Belleville. She was arrested and brought into custody; she was searched and police located a quantity of Methamphetamine (crystal meth), speed, crack-cocaine, and a small quantity of marihuana.

 

February 26 – 27, 2019 Incidents

Warrants

A 40 year old male was arrested on the 26th of February for his outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. At 3:00 p.m. police were called to the Wall Street area for a suspicious male. The attending officers recognized the male and arrested him for his warrant. The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Attempted Break and Enter

On the 27th of February 2019 at 3:00 a.m. officers responded to 38 Buell St. “Developmental Services” for an alarm. When the officers arrived on scene they observed that the front door had been kicked in; entry was not gained. Officers are looking for any witness to the incident. Charges pending

On the 7th of February 2019 a press release was issued for a small fire that was set at the Royal Bank at 2399 Parkedale Ave. The suspect had light a small fire and fled on foot. A passerby extinguished the fire and called police. Police have identified the suspect through CCTV footage that had been submitted. The suspect will be charged accordingly.

February 23 – 25, 2019 Incidents

Impaired

On the 23rd of February 2019 at 5:15 p.m. officers responded to a traffic collision without injuries at King Street East and Ford Street.   The officer arrived on scene and noticed signs of impairment from one of the drivers involved. The officer arrested a 58 year old driver and charged him with impaired driving. He was later released from custody with a future court date.

 

Shoplifting

On Saturday the 23rd of February 2019 at 12:20 p.m. a loss prevention officer observed a 50 year old female and a 52 year old female in the Real Canadian Superstore. They were both observed selecting merchandise and concealing the items on their persons. They both left the store without any attempt to pay. The loss prevention officer approached and arrested the two females and contacted police. Both were charged with theft under $5000.

 

February 22 – 23, 2019 Incidents

Mental Health Act Apprehension

On the 22nd of February, 2019 at approximately 7 am members of the Brockville Police Service attended to a south end residence to check on the well-being of a 77 year old man. Police were concerned for the resident’s mental health and he was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to the Brockville General Hospital for necessary evaluation. The man was admitted to hospital for further evaluation and observation.

 

Bail Violations / Warrant execution

On the 22nd of February, 2019 at approximately 12:20 p.m. members of the Brockville Police observed a man known to be outstanding on a warrant for his arrest for breaching his form of release. The 55 year old Brockville man was arrested on the authority of the outstanding warrant and was additionally charged with a second count of breaching his undertaking as he was arrested in the presence of a woman he was to refrain from associating with. The man was remanded into custody where he will remain until his next court appearance.

 

Mental Health / Water Rescue

During the early morning hours on the 23rd of February, 2019 police responded to an area of the St. Lawrence River south of Blockhouse Island as a distraught 24 year old Brockville woman had chosen to walk out onto the ice toward open water.

Members of the Brockville Fire Department and EMS were contacted and responded in quick fashion. Firefighters trained in water rescue attended to the woman’s location and returned her to safety. The woman was transported to the Brockville General Hospital for necessary treatment and evaluation of her mental well-being.

 

 

 

February 20 – 21, 2019 Incidents

Warrants

On the 20th of February, 2019, at approximately 6:00pm, officers from the Brockville Police Service executed an arrest warrant at a residence in the South area of the city. The female resident was 26 years of age and known to have several outstanding warrants for multiple counts of fraud, possession of stolen property and unlawfully at large. When the warrant was executed a 40 year old, local male, was located inside the residence as well. That male was placed under arrest for breaching his probation. Due to the multiple warrants the female accused was held for a bail hearing and the male was released shortly after with a future court date.

 

Drugs

On the 20th of February, 2019, at approximately 2:00pm, the Brockville Police Service arrested a 50 year old, local male, for possession for the purposes of trafficking a controlled substance. The male was taken into custody and located on his person was a variety of drugs. These drugs include crystal meth and an assortment of opiates. The total street value of the drugs was over $4,000.00. The male was released from custody with a future court date.

 

February 19 – 20, 2019 Incidents

Bail Violations

On the 19th of February 2019 at 10:30 p.m., officers were riding in a marked police vehicle conducting routine patrol in the City of Brockville. The officers observed a 19 year old male that they had dealt with the previous evening for a theft. The officers had previously released him on conditions that included a curfew. He was placed under arrest for the offence of breaching his officer in charge undertaking and now held in custody for a bail hearing.

February 18 – 19, 2019 Incidents

Theft

On the 18th of February 2019 at 10:00 p.m. officers on routine patrol were flagged down by a witness who reported that he had just observed a male trying car doors as he walked up the street. A description of the suspect was provided to police who located the male at the Quickie convenience store on William St. The officers spoke with the male it was learned that he had just committed a theft at the store. The male was arrested and later released with a future court date.

 

Fire

On the 18th of February 2019 at 5:00 p.m. police along with Brockville Fire responded to a vehicle fire on Ravina Place. The owner of the vehicle had just returned home entered his residence then discovered that his vehicle had caught fire. The fire is not suspicious and there were not any injuries as a result.

February 17 – 18, 2019 Incidents

Domestic

On the 17th of February 2019 at 10:00 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a domestic assault on Brock Street. Witnesses contacted police who indicated they observed a female being pulled by the hair across a parking lot and thrown into a van. That van was located and stopped by police a short distance away. The female and male were both located in the vehicle. A 42 year old male has been charged with 6 counts of assault, forcible confinement and mischief. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Noise Complaint

On the 18th of February 2019 at 2:40 a.m. officers responded to a noise complaint on King St. West. Police had responded to several calls for the noise complaint as the male responsible for the noise refused to turn down the music. The male was eventually arrested and charged with mischief. He has been released from custody with a future court date.

February 15 – 17, 2019 Incidents

From the 15th of February to today, the 17th, the Brockville Police Service attended to 54 calls for service.

On Friday the 15th of February officers made 4 separate arrests in relation to 4 completely different cases pertaining to subjects wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for various offences. In all but 1 case they were released with future court dates. One male, a 39 year old local man had been wanted since October 2018 for allegations of causing bodily harm to another person in an assault complaint. He had been arrested by a neighboring police agency for offences committed in that jurisdiction. When their investigation was complete he was released to Brockville and arrested on his outstanding warrant and held for bail. He was remanded into custody and will appear again on the 19th for bail review.

Further on the same Friday, officers investigated two different calls alleging bail condition violations being committed. In each case police are now seeking the arrest of a 63 year old male and a 20 year old male for breaching conditions of a previous release agreements.

On Saturday evening, the 16th of February, Brockville Police had received notification from a neighboring police service that they had in custody a 44 year old male that had an outstanding warrant for an assault investigation dating back to July of 2018. Officers made the journey and executed the warrant, bringing the subject back to Brockville to appear before court. He was remanded into custody pending bail review for the 19th of February.
