General patrol leads to arrest

A 25 year old Brockville man was arrested late Wednesday afternoon for outstanding credit card offences. Just before 4 pm, while on general patrol, officers observed the man walking downtown and knew him to be wanted by police. He was arrested without incident and later released, with a future court date.

 

 

Arrest warrant

A 33 year old male was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants Wednesday night. Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police located the man walking on County Road 29, in an intoxicated state. After learning he was wanted by Brockville Police Service for numerous offences, the man was arrested. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Damage to piano at Hardy Park

The Brockville Police Service is once again seeking the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for damage done to the public piano in the band shell at Hardy Park.

At approximately 9am this morning, officers responded to Hardy Park after receiving a complaint that the public piano had been vandalized beyond repair. This is the second time within a month that the piano has been the subject of damage. It had previously been reported damaged on the 26th of July, 2017.

 

August 22, 2017 Incidents

Suspicious Person

A local 27 year old female was arrested Tuesday afternoon for being in violation of her Court ordered conditions.

Police were called to the area of Front Ave around 3pm, after receiving a complaint of a suspicious female asking other citizens for money. Officers located the female, who was believed to be under the influence of non-medically prescribed drugs and as a result, placed her under arrest for breach of recognizance. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Warrants

A trip to the Police Station led to the arrest of a local male late Tuesday evening.

The 25 year old man attended Brockville Police Service shortly after 5pm in regards to an unrelated matter. Officers recognized the man and knew him to be wanted on outstanding Assault charges. He was arrested without incident and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

August 20 – 21, 2017 Incidents

Impaired Driving

On Monday morning at approximately 3:00 am, a 57 year old Brockville resident was arrested for impaired driving after he drove his e-bike into a fence on Central Ave.  He later provided breath samples that were almost three 4 times the legal limit.

 

Theft

On Sunday a downtown resident reported that his $2000 road bike was missing from his back yard.  Police later observed the bike being driven by a 47 year old male.  He was arrested for theft and the bike returned to the owner.

 

August 19 – 20, 2017 Incidents

Shoplifting

On August 19, 2017 at approximately 3:00 pm, Loss Prevention from a North end department store had contacted the Brockville Police Service to report a suspected large theft in progress. Officers attended and observed a female loading a shopping cart full of various merchandise. The female suspect then left the store in possession of the cart making no attempt to pay for the merchandise. The 51 year old female from Kemptville was arrested for theft under. Once she was identified, it was learned that there were also outstanding warrants on her for theft from other services. She was released from Brockville Police Service custody with documents compelling her to court. Then she was turned over to the OPP on the above mentioned warrant. The total value of the theft was $968.00 and all items were recovered.

 

Impaired Driving

On August 20, 2017 at approximately 7:30 am, the Brockville Police Service came in contact with a 30 year old local male, wearing a vest identifying himself with an outlaw motorcycle club, in the Center area of the city. He was originally approached by officers as it appeared that he was having mechanical issues with his motorcycle on the roadway. While speaking with the male an odour of alcohol was noticed coming from the male’s breath. A roadside breath demand was made and the breath sample registered a fail on the alcohol screening device. The male was arrested for care and control of a motor vehicle. Additional breath samples were given and they determined the exact concentration of alcohol on his breath to be one and a half times the legal limit of alcohol. He was charged with care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired and released with a future court appearance date.

August 18 – 19, 2017 Incidents

Stunt Driving

On August 18, 2017 at approximately 5:00 pm, an officer from the Brockville Police Service was observing traffic on King St. W. near the West boarder of the City. While there, a 22 year old local male, was observed operating his vehicle at a high rate of speed. The officer recorded a speed reading of 72 km/h over the posted speed limit. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was charged with stunt driving, driver’s licence was seized and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. This is a good reminder for members of the public about stunt driving laws and penalties. The Brockville Police Service does make road safety a priority.

 

Arrest Warrant

On August 18, 2017 at approximately 11 pm, the Brockville Police Service arrested a local, 47 year old male, for an outstanding warrant in relation to breaching his probation conditions. The male suspect is known to police and officers were aware that he was wanted. He was released with new documents compelling him to court.

 

Theft Suspect Identified

On August 19, 2017 at approximately 1:30 am, the Brockville Police Service arrested a 23 year old local male in relation to a theft which occurred on August 14, 2017. The theft was of medical equipment being an air cast. This information had previously been released to the public. The theft occurred at the Shoppers Drug Mart in the 1000 Islands Mall. The suspect was identified through security video footage. After the arrest the male suspect was released with documents compelling him to court.

August 17, 2017 Incidents

Shoplifter

On the 17th of August, 2017 at approximetly 2:30pm officers attended to a north end box store as a result of a call received by the Loss Prevention Officers. Store security had arrested a 39 year old female for shoplifting. She was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Domestic Dispute

On the 18th of August, 2017 at approximetly 1:30am officers responded to a 911 call in the south end of the city. While there police spoke with 2 individuals who were both on release conditions from previous domestic charges to not communicate with eachother. As a result a 23 year old male and a 19 year old female was arrested for the breach. They were held in custody and released in the morning with a future court date.

August 16, 2017 Incident

Assault

On August 16, 2017 at 6:40 am the Brockville Police Service received a call regarding an altercation in the South end of town. The victim dropped a friend off at her boyfriends apartment and was confronted by the boyfriend who yelled death threats at the victim and shot at him multiple times with a CO2 pellet gun. The accused was apprehended and charged with numerous Criminal Code offences including assault, uttering a death threat, using an imitation firearm as well as 4 breaches of probation and a count of breach of undertaking. The 20 year old accused was held for bail.

 

Assault

On August 16, 2017 at approximately 9:30 pm the Brockville Police Service took a report of an assault in the downtown area. The victim reported a knife had been held to her throat and shoulder after a verbal altercation with a party known to her. A local 14 year old male was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

August 15, 2017 Incidents

Domestic Dispute

On August 15, 2017 at approximately 7:20 pm the Brockville Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call at a residence in the South area of the city. Investigation determined a domestic related assault had occurred resulting in a 47 year old female being arrested and charged with assault. The accused was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Impaired Driving

On August 15, 2017 at 11:00pm the Brockville Police Service received a call regarding a male passed out at the wheel of a motor vehicle in the area of Hardy Park. Police located the vehicle and identified the 24 year old driver. Officers noted a strong odour of alcohol from the driver, as well as open liqour in the vehicle. The male was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and provided readings almost double the legal limit.

August 14 – 15, 2017 Incidents

Theft of Air Cast from Shopper’s

Officers from the Brockville Police Service were called to the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Parkedale Avenue for an unusual theft. A male suspect stole an air cast for a leg.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning a young man walked into Shopper’s Drug Mart and tried on an air cast for his leg. He then proceeded to walk out of the store leaving behind his boot

The man is described as in his 20’s, wearing a Toronto Blue Jays baseball hat, work boots, blue jeans and a blue hooded shirt.

Domestic Arrest

A 32 year old Brockville man was arrested yesterday evening and held for bail in relation to a domestic disturbance which occurred earlier in the day at a Church Street residence.

Brockville Police responded to a 9-1-1 call yesterday at approximately 4:40 p.m. to the residence. After speaking with the complainant officers learned the 28 year old female victim and accused male share two children together and were separated. While the man was visiting the residence and assisting with the children, the victim and accused male became involved in a verbal argument which escalated into a minor physical altercation in front of the children. The man then left the residence before police arrived.

He was located by officers shortly thereafter and arrested for domestic assault. He was taken to the Brockville Police Service where he was held overnight pending a bail hearing today.

August 13 – 14, 2017 Incidents

Missing 7 year old located safe

Yesterday afternoon just before 5 p.m. Brockville Police were contacted about a missing 7 year old boy who had gone missing while visiting the petting zoo at Ribfest.

Officers with the Brockville Police assisted RCMP officers who were in the waterfront area during the festival weekend searched for approximately 1 hour before the boy was eventually located at a residence on James St.

There had been some miscommunication and the boy had gone to a residence with one of his guardians and the others in the group had not been informed.

Brockville Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with locating the young boy.

 

Disqualified Driving Arrest

A 25 year old Brockville man is facing charges of driving while disqualified and breaching his probation following a traffic stop just after 12 p.m. yesterday.

Officers were on King Street near the Metro grocery store yesterday when they spotted the man driving a 2016 Silver Chev whom they recognized from previous incidents. Investigation confirmed he was on probation as well as a disqualified driver.

In addition to facing charges of Disqualified driving and Breach of Probation, the man had his vehicle towed from the scene and impounded.

 

Mischief Incidents at Waterfront Buildings

The Public Works department of the City of Brockville contacted the Brockville Police early Monday morning to report a number of their properties in the downtown area were the victims of vandalism over the weekend.

Staff reported that unknown person used a large marker to write “TEZ” in the washrooms at the Splash Pad, Hardy Park, Public Harbour at Blockhouse, Centeen Park and in the newly opened Railway Tunnel.

Busy Weekend

With Ribfest and the Rails to Trails festivals this weekend along with relatively nice weather, officers with the Brockville Police were kept busy all weekend.

In addition to participating in the festival activities such as the parade, Tunnel opening ceremonies and Kids, Cops and Fishing community events; from Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. until Monday morning at 8 a.m. officers responded to 102 calls for service.

Of the 102 incidents there were 9 Criminal Code offences including 2 for assaulting a police officer, and 3 persons arrested under the Liquor Licence Act.
