January 22 – 23, 2016 Incidents

Domestic Dispute

On January 22nd at 11:35 am., Brockville Police began investigating a domestic dispute that took place in a north end apartment complex.

A local, 34 year old female, reported her ex-boyfriend showing up all the time at her apartment and causing problems for her.  On this date, he showed up and was following her from room to room in the residence. When she attempted to close a bedroom door, the male kicked it back open, damaging the door in the process.  Police located the local, 26 year old, staying in a nearby building. He was arrested and charged with mischief and taken into custody.  Later the same day, the male was released on conditions and given a future court date.

 

Disturbance

On January 22nd at 5:38 pm., Brockville Police responded to a disturbance in a north end apartment building hallway.

A local, 25 year old male, attended one of the units in the building and got into a disagreement with one of the residents over personal property.  As the male was leaving the premises, he discharged an aresol irritant into the hallway area. Most likely a bear repellant or something similar.  Residents and officers on scene experienced burning sensations in their throats and eyes. The Brockville Fire Department was asked to attend to assist with airing out the building.  The accused also threatened the tenant’s safety both verbally and through facebook.

Police were unable to locate the accused at the time of the incident. A warrant is being sought for his arrest for the offences of mischief and uttering threats.

 

Domestic Dispute

On January 22nd at 7:57 pm., Brockville Police started an investigation into a domestic dispute that started while parties were travelling in a vehicle on Parkedale Ave.

The local couple had been out for dinner when a verbal dispute turned physical while driving home.  The local, 35 year old female, struck her spouse in the face, causing a bloody nose. She then kicked the front window area, knocking the mirror off and cracking the glass.  Her spouse, a local, 51 year old male, managed to remove her from the vehicle and left her in the area.

Police stopped the vehicle a short distance away and found the male had been consuming alcohol. He was given a roadside breath test, registered a warn and was issued a three suspension of his licence.  The female was charged with assault on her spouse and mischief to the vehicle.  She was released on conditions with a future court date.  The man suffered minor injuries as a result. He did not require medical attention.

 

‘Operation Doorknock’

On January 23rd at 9:00 pm., Brockville Police Officers enforced “Operation Doorknock”, checking on charged persons to ensure compliance with bail conditions and house arrest.

No infractions were discovered after checking numerous subjects.

 

January 19, 2016 Incidents

Unwanted Person

On January 19th at 5:12 pm., Brockville Police attended a north end business to deal with an unwanted female customer.

The woman had received services at the location and was refusing to pay her bill.  Police spoke to the local, 49 year old, who was in a very intoxicated state.  She was arrested and charged for public intoxication and taken into custody.  When sober, the woman was released with a fine.

 

Domestic Dispute

On January 19th at 7:35 pm., Brockville Police attended a domestic dispute at an apartment building in the south end of town.

The couple began arguing over the female’s alcohol consumption. The 34 year old woman then assaulted her 41 year old, male partner. She then proceeded to cause some damage to property within the apartment. She left the area on foot.  After speaking with the vicitm, Police located the female nearby and she was arrested and charged with assault and mischief. She was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

The vicitm sustained minor injuries in the assault and did not require medical attention.

 

Breach of Conditions

On January 18th at 5:09 pm., Brockville Police attended a south end residence to investigate a violation of a youth’s release conditions.

A local, 14 year old male, was arrested and charged for property offences in October of 2015. One of his conditions involved following the rules of his father’s residence.  The father reported this was not happening and the youth had not been seen for a couple days.  Police have started an investigation into the breaches of the young teens conditions and he is currently wanted for not abiding by house rules.

 

New Phone Scam

Callers are claiming to be VISA representatives, asking about recent transactions from cardholders to seek verification. In the process your VISA card number is verified because you want to be helpful.

Please do not give your information out. When people have began asking questions of these callers, they hang up very quickly.

 

January 18, 2016 Incidents

Well Being Check

On January 18th at 6:17 pm., Brockville Police received a request from another Poilce agency, requesting a check on the wellbeing of a local female.

Police attended a south end residence and located the 25 year old.  Based on their interaction with her, Police decided she was in need of mental health care. She was taken to hospital for appropriate help.  Originally, other family members had contacted Police after she made comments about wanting to harm them.

 

Compliance Checks

On January 18th starting around 9:00 pm., Brockville Police Officers attended several homes in the city performing compliance checks.

People on house arrest or court imposed curfews, attend their doors at the request of Police to ensure they are abiding by conditions of release.  Everyone was abiding by their conditions on this evening.

 

January 16 – 17, 2016

Assault

On January 16th at 2:20 pm., Brockville Police investigated a domestic assault which was reported at the Police station.

A local, 22 year old male, had assaulted his 18 year old girlfriend by slapping her several times during a dispute.  The man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released on conditions with a future court date.  The vicitm suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

 

Theft

On January 17th at 2:40 pm., Brockville Police received a report of theft of tools from an unopened store in the Tall Ships building.

Officers watched the security video footage for the building and one of the Officers recognized the male responsible caught in the act.  A local, 59 year old male, was arrested and charged with break and enter to the location as well as theft.  The stolen tools were also recovered and returned to the owner.  The accused was released on conditions with a future court date.

 

Unwanted Passenger

On January 17th at 6:46 pm., Brockville Police attended the VIA Rail station on Perth Street for an unwanted passenger.

Officers dealt with a 22 year old female, who was intoxicated and causing problems for staff.  She was arrested for her own safety and taken to the Police station to sober up.  At the time of this report, the writer is unaware of which area she resides.

 

Domestic Dispute

On January 17th at 8:06 pm., Brockville Police attended a domestic dispute at a north end apartment complex.

A verbal dispute turned physical between two local, 20 year olds.  The female was charged with assault after puching the male and he was then charged with mischief after damaging her cell phone.  Both parties were arrested and then released on their perspective charges with a future court date.  The male did not suffer any injuries.

January 14 – 15, 2016 Incidents

Unwanted Person

On January 14th at 11:30 am., Brockville Police attended St. Lawrence College on Parkedale Ave. in regards to an unwanted person.

A local female noticed a male waiting for her and she wanted to have no contact with him.  Police attended and spoke with the subject and discovered the man had a warrant out for his arrest by a local OPP Detachment.  The local, 29 year old, was arrested on the warrant and while Officers were performing a mandatory search of his person, located 28 grams of cocaine in his clothing.  Later, the male was processed on the drug possession, given a future court date, then taken into custody by OPP Officers to answer to the warrant.  The value of the seized narcotic falls between $2500.00 – $3000.00.

 

Shoplifting

On January 14th at 2:58 pm., Brockville Police attended a north end box store for a theft complaint.

A local, 53 year old female, had taken items valued around $50.00, without making any attempt to purchase them.  She was arrested and charged with theft then released with a future court date.

 

Domestic Dispute

On January 15th at 4:37 am., Brockville Police responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment complex in the center of the city.

Police asked a man to step outside the residence so they could speak with his female partner.  The subject decided to attend a window of the residence and press his frontal, naked, private parts against the glass.  Officers arrested the local, 23 year old, for an indecent act. While being searched subsequent to his arrest, Police discovered two grams of cocaine on his person.  He was also on probation for other charges and was breaching conditions associated with the probation order.  When sober, the male was released on conditions and given a future court date.

 

Unwanted Male

On January 15th at 4:44 am., Brockville Police attended the radio station on Stewart Blvd. for an unwanted male.

Staff discovered a man sleeping near the doorway to the business, when spoken to, the male took off on foot.  At 5:25 am., Officers responded to a north end residence to remove a male trying to enter a residence.  The description of the man matched the one from staff at the radio station.  A local, 23 year old male, was arrested and charged with public intoxication.  He was released later in the day when sober and issued a fine.

 

Phone Scam

Brockville Police are noticing an increase in a particular type of phone scam.

Callers are identifying themselves as members of Canada Revenue and threatening jail if taxes are not paid.

Police encourage people not to provide any information to these callers and if they have any questions, call Revenue Canada and report the incident along with local Police agencies.

 

January 13, 2016 Incidents

Breach of Conditions

On January 13th at 2:10 pm., Brockville Police attended a south end apartment building for a breach of conditions complaint.

Police discovered a local, 19 year old male, was in contact with a female he could not communicate with.  The male faces outstanding charges before the court and had certain individuals he was not able to communicate with. Police received information that communication was taking place with one of the named persons.  The young man was arrested and charged with breaching his recognizance.  He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

 

Warrant

On January 13th at 9:40 pm., Brockville Police attended a residence in the south end of the city for a complaint involving a group of youths causing a problem.

While at the residence obtaining information, Police spoke to a local, 22 year old male, and discovered he was wanted by a local OPP detachment on a warrant.  The male was arrested on the warrant and Officers from the OPP attended and took custody of the man.

 

January 11, 2016 Incidents

Warrant

On January 11th at 11:59 am., Brockville Police arrested a local, 33 year old male, outside of the courthouse building.

Officers were aware there was a warrant in place for the man out of Kingston.  Later in the day, members of the Kingston Police attended and returned the subject to their jurisdiction.

 

Drug Offence

On January 11th at 5:39 pm., Brockville Police stopped a vehicle in the center of town for a traffic infraction.

The driver, a local, 33 year old female, was found to be in possession of several different types of drugs.  She was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and taken into custody. Her vehicle was towed as a result of the traffic charges.  The accused party was released later on conditions with a future court date.

 

Well Being Check

On January 11th at 6:07 pm., Brockville Police attended a residence in the center of the city to check on the wellbeing of a male subject.

The local, 28 year old, was having mental health issues and had caused damage within the residence.  He was apprehended under the mental health act and taken to hospital for appropriate care.

 

January 8 – 10, 2016 Incidents

Traffic Stop

On January 8th at 9:02 am., Brockville Police stopped a local , 45 year old male, for a traffic infraction on a south end street.

The man tried to identify himself as someone else due to the fact that his drivers licence was suspended.  Police warned the man for the criminal offence of personation. He was released at the scene and given a traffic court date.

 

Unwanted Person

On January 9th at 12:14 am., Brockville Police attended the Brockville General Hospital in regards to an unwanted person.

A local, 21 year old male, had received stitches to close a wound on his forehead.  After treatment, the intoxicated male began causing problems for staff members.  The man was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace.  He was released later the same day when sober.

 

Fraud

On January 9th at 1:20 pm., Brockville Police attended the center area of the city for a fraud complaint.

A local, 39 year old male, took a taxi to a residence and returned to the vehcile several minutes later but was now refusing to pay the fare.  Police arrested and charged the man with fare fraud, locating him walking close by.  He was released with a future court date.

 

Robbery

On January 10th at 12:27 am., Brockville Police attended an armed robbery at the Petro Canada situated at 325 Stewart Blvd.

A lone, white male, armed with a knife, approached the cashier and demanded money.  The male left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The cashier was not injured in the incident.  The male has not been located at this point and the investigation is ongoing.
