Weekend Incidents – September 25 – 28, 2015

During the Friday morning school commute the Brockville Police continued their rotating traffic safety initiatives around school zones. Officers set up radar in the area of Thousand Islands Secondary School (TISS) along Windsor Drive between 7:45-8:45 a.m. and reported no speeding infractions.

 

On Saturday morning at approximately 1:45 am Brockville Police Service stopped a vehicle on George Street in Brockville. It was learned the driver of the vehicle, a 29 year old male, was on a Recognizance with conditions not to be outside of the Province of Alberta without consent. As a result the male was arrested and held for bail and will appear in court later today.

 

A 44 year old Brockville are a man was observed driving the wrong direction on Wall Street in Brockville on Sunday morning at approximately 1:20am. As a result his vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested for impaired driving and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. He was released from custody on a promise to appear for a later court date.

 

Brockville Police responded to a disturbance in front of City Hall at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. On arrival officers located 2 males and 2 females yelling. As a result officers broke up the altercation and went their separate ways. Alcohol was a factor in the incident.

 

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning Brockville Police asked to attend with Leeds and Grenville EMS to a residence on Brock Street where two males were involved in an altercation requiring medical attention. A 57 year old Brockville man was taken to the Brockville General Hospital with facial injuries where he was treated and later released. A 53 year old male also from Brockville was arrested and charged with Assault causing Bodily Harm and Breach of Probation.

 

On Sunday Morning between 10:30 a.m-1:30 p.m. a Brockville area resident parked her vehicle near Commonwealth field to watch a football game. When she returned to her car after the game she found the window of her vehicle had been smashed out and a quantity of cash taken. September 23rd, 2015 Incidents

Theft

On September 23rd at approximately 2:30 pm, Brockville Police attended a north end department store for a theft complaint.

Two local adults had been apprehended by store security for shoplifting. A 20 year old male and an 18 year old female, both face a future court date after being released by Police at the scene.

 

Domestic Dispute

On September 23rd at approximately 9:00 pm, Brockville Police attended a south end residence for a domestic dispute.

A local, 19 year old female, returned to her residence along with her 23 year old boyfriend. When they entered the residence, they were greeted by her ex-boyfriend who had forced his way into the house. He then assaulted the boyfriend with a punch to the head and began threatening both parties with a beer bottle. He finally left when requested by the female.  Injuries did not require medical attention.

The male was gone before Police arrival. A warrant will be sought for the 28 year old, local male. Charges being laid include assault with a weapon, assault and mischief.

 

Domestic Dispute

On September 23rd at approximately 11:40 pm, Brockville Police attended a domestic dispute at a south end residence.

The 26 year old, female resident was attempting to approach her 22 year old, male partner. When Police attempted to stop her, she resisted and had to be restrained. It was noted she was heavily intoxicated at the time. She was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace.

At the Police station she refused to exit the Police vehicle and assaulted officers by kicking them when trying to remove her from the car. She was carried to a cell and held till sober. Conditions were put in place when released and a future court date was issued to face charges of assault Police and resist arrest.

Mischief

Brockville Police are investigating a mischief complaint which took place in the Beattie Dodge dealership parking lot.

Unknown person(s) smashed a window on the vehicle and left the scene.

The vehicle was parked on the west side of the dealership.

September 21 – 22, 2015 Incidents

Theft

On September 21st at approximately 12:30 pm, Brockville Police attended a north end department store for a theft complaint.

On three different days last week, an unknown male removed male fragrances from the store.  The theft is worth several hundred dollars.

Police are looking into identifying the male and the investigation is ongoing.

 

Break and Enter

September 21st at approximately 3:15 pm, Brockville Police attended a residence in the south end of town for a report of a residential break and enter.

Electronics were stolen and later located by Police. A local, 19 year old male is now wanted by Police in this incident. The investigation is ongoing.

 

Compliance Checks

On September 21st at approximately 8:15 pm, Brockville Police conducted compliance checks throughout the city.

Officers were making sure that people facing outstanding charges were in compliance with curfews, proper addresses and any other applicable conditions. On the evening of the 21st, Police found no breaches. These checks are ongoing and can take place any evening.

 

Break and Enter

On September 22nd at approximately 12:40 am, Brockville Police attended a residential break and enter complaint in the center area of the city.

Various items had been removed from the residence while home owner was out. Police are investigating several leads trying to obtain the identity of the suspect(s).

 

Unwanted Male

On September 22nd at approximately 1:30 am, Brockville Police attended a north end apartment building in regards to an unwanted male.

A local, 27 year old male, was asked to leave the property. He was drunk and loud and would not follow directions. The party was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace. He was released unconditionally when sober with no charges.

September 18th, 2015 Incidents

Domestic Dispute

On September 18th at approximately 3:45 am, Brockville Police attended a domestic dispute at an apartment building on King Street East.

Police dealt with a local, 21 year old male and his female partner. Although the dispute was verbal in nature, the male was under court conditions for outstanding charges with one of the conditions consisting of no contact with the female. He will appear in bail court.

September 17th, 2015 Incidents

Public Intoxication

On September 17th at approximately 6:10 pm, Brockville Police attended an apartment complex in the center area of the city in regards to an unwanted person.

A local, 45 year old male, was located by Police in an intoxicated state. He was bothering residents of the building, banging on doors and being loud. The party was arrested for public intoxication and released with a fine when sober.

 

Motor Vehicle Accident

On September 17th at approximately 8:15 pm, Brockville Police responded to an accident on a south end street.

One vehicle struck another and fled the scene. The vehicle and driver were located shortly afterwards.

A local, 29 year old male, was charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

 

Assistance Provided

On September 17th at approximately 8:45 pm, Brockville Police attended an apartment complex in the center area of the city to check on the wellbeing of a male party.

Residents of the building indicated the male was yelling outside of the building. His words did not make sense and the male himself contacted Police from his apartment seeking help. Police arrested the male for his own protection, believing drugs may have been involved. At the time of this release, Police were obtaining help for the local, 25 year old.

September 16th, 2015 Incidents

Disturbance

On September 16th at approximately 5:30 am, Brockville Police responded to the streets around the water tower.

Reports had been received of a male party yelling profanities and wearing nothing but a sheet. Police located a local, 21 year old male, who actually identified himself as someone else. After learning his true name, he was arrested and charged with personation, breaching an outstanding undertaking as well as his probation. He was held in custody to attend a bail hearing.

 

Warrant

On September 16th at approximately 1:50 pm, Brockville Police executed a search warrant at a residence in the south end of the city.

Police recovered property that was taken during the break and enter to “Hemp Heaven”. A local, 14 year old female, is under investigation for possession of stolen property.

This case is still ongoing.

 

Bail Violation

On September 16th at approximately 2:10 pm, Brockville Police attended the Brockville Shopping Center in regards to a bail violation complaint.

A local female, was complaining of unwanted contact from two other 13 and 15 year old females. The accused youths were already on conditions to leave the complainant alone. Police located the 13 year old later in the day and she was arrested for breaching the conditions of her undertaking. The 15 year old has yet to be located.

 

Break and Enter

On September 16th at approximately 3:15 pm, Brockville Police attended a residence in the center of the city in regards to a break and enter.

Suspects entered through the rear door of the residence and stole electronics and DVDs. Damage was also sustained in the residence by food products being poured over some possessions.

Police have arrested and charged a local, 13 year old, female as one of the responsible parties. A second, 15 year old female, is being sought as her accomplice. The two female youths are the same subjects involved with bail violations earlier in the day.

At approximately 7;30 pm, Brockville Police attended a south end residence in regards to a violation of an undertaking.

The same, 13 year old female was not following curfew conditions and was turned in by a family member. She was arrested and charged with the breaches throughout the day as well as the break and enter. A bail hearing will take place.

September 14 – 15, 2015 Incidents

Breaching Conditions

On September 14th at approximately 4:10 pm, Brockville Police responded to a complaint at a south end apartment complex.

Two younger females were bothering a resident of the building. Police dealt with a local, 13 year old female and another local, 15 year old. The younger female was under release conditions which included no contact with the older one. She was subsequently arrested and charged with breaching her undertaking. A future court date was given when released.

 

Missing Person

On September 15th at approximately 2:45 pm, Brockville Police responded to the mental health building on Front Avenue as a female had walked away from the lobby, missing an appointment.

The local, 27 year old, was located this morning at her residence, safe and sound.

 

Threats

On September 15th at approximately6:15 pm, Brockville Police attended a north end apartment building for a threatening complaint.

A local, 32 year old female was receiving threats through texts from her ex-husband. Police are now seeking the 30 year old male accused. He is wanted for uttering threats and a warrant will be sought.

 

Unwanted Male

On September 15th at approximately 8:40 pm, Brockville Police attended the Galaxy Theatre to deal with an unwanted male.

Police spoke to a local, 19 year old, who had been drinking and causing problems. The male was found to be on a probation order with one of the conditions being no consumption of alcohol. He was arrested and charged with breaching his probation order. When sober, the male was released with a future court date.

September 10th Incidents

Breach of Conditions

On September 10th at approximately 4:30 pm, Brockville Police stopped a vehicle on Parkedale Avenue while on general patrol.

One of the occupants was on a recognizance for outstanding charges with one of the conditions including being in the presence of his surety. None of the other three occupants included his surety.

The local, 19 year old male, was arrested and charged with breaching his recognizance as well as an outstanding probation order. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.

 

Public Intoxication

On September 10th at approximately 7:15 pm, Brockville Police received a complaint of a male party passed out on the patio of a business in the center of town.

He had left that location prior to their arrival but was located lying down again a short distance away. Police noted obvious signs of intoxication and arrested the male for his own protection. He was released with a fine when sober.

School Zones

On September 8th, Brockville Police with the assistance of the Brockville Police Community Volunteers, monitored school zones.

Several drivers were charged with offences including speeding and driving while suspended.

Police remind residents to be careful of their speed and pedestrian traffic now that school is back in session. Fines double when infractions take place in these school zones.
