July 8 – 10, 2022 News Release

Domestic Dispute

On July 8, 2022 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a domestic dispute on Cedar St. Officers arrived and located a 29-year-old female at the scene. This female was wanted regarding offences stemming from a domestic disturbance at the same location, which took place on July 5, 2022. When officers arrived, they diffused the current situation and arrested the female for assault and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle that occurred July 5th. She was charged and released with conditions and a future court date.

    

Break and Enter

On July 8, 2022 at about 5:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a B&E to a residence on Ferguson Dr. The incident occurred sometime between July 6 and July 8. Multiple items are missing from the residence including power tools and electronics. The incident is currently under investigation. Bail Violation

On July 8, 2022 at about 5:30AM, the Brockville Police Service located a 33-year-old male in the area of Brock St. The male was out on bail with conditions to; not attend the City of Brockville, except for court related purposes. When officers located him, he was hiding under a parked vehicle. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offences of failing to comply with release order and fail to comply with probation.

 

Impaired

On July 9, 2022 at about 9:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a motor vehicle collision on Laurier Blvd. Police arrived on scene and determined that there were no injuries to those involved and that a 58-year-old male was at fault for the collision. It was also determined that the male was impaired by drugs and he was placed under arrest. The driver was taken for testing performed Drug Recognition Expert. It was then confirmed, by the expert, that the male was impaired by drugs. The vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and he was charged with operation while impaired by drugs.

 

Warrants

On July 8, 2022 at about 10:30AM, the Brockville Police Service located a 53-year-old male on Park St., who had a warrant for his arrest. The warrant was for failing to attend court regarding charges of B&E and theft. The male was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Further;

On July 10, 2022 at about 8:00AM, the Brockville Police Service attended a call regarding a male laying around and blocking the entrance of Dallarama on Parkedale Ave. Police arrived and identified the person to be a 45-year-old male who had a warrant for his arrest regarding a fraud charge. He was arrested and released shortly after with a future court date.

July 5 – 8, 2022 News Release

Weapons

On July 5, 2022 at about 1:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call of a 23-year-old male at the library on Buell St. openly possessing a knife. Officers responded quickly and located the male in question. He was arrested without incident, the knife was seized and no one was hurt. It also was found that the male was on probation with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Later, he was released with a future court date for the offences of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and fail to comply with probation.

 

Stolen Bike

On July 5, 2022 at about 5:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a person’s bicycle stolen from the front of Mrs. B’s Variety on King St. E. Officers attended and began searching the area and located the suspect who was in possession of the stolen bicycle. The suspect was identified to be a 36-year-old male. It was then found that the male was on probation with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He was arrested and the bicycle was returned to the owner. The male was issued a court date and charged with theft under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation.

 

Stolen Vehicle

On July 5, 2022 at about 7:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a vehicle that was stolen from a business on California Ave. The owner of the vehicle had their purse stolen which contained the keys to their vehicle. At the time, the suspect was unknown. This information was sent out to notify other police agencies. Later in the evening, the vehicle was observed in Quebec at a rest stop, not far from the Ontario border. The suspect was also located and arrested by the Sûreté du Québec for possession of stolen property. The suspect was identified to be a 51-year-old male, known to frequent Brockville. The vehicle was recovered, he was charged with the possession of stolen property and released with conditions.

 

Shoplifting

On July 6, 2022 at about 4:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint regarding a female who had stolen items from the Rexall Pharmacy on Pearl St. W. Officers attended and located the suspect who was then identified to be a 38-year-old female. While the Rexall staff did not wish to proceed with minor theft charges, the female did have a warrant out for her arrest for failing to comply with her probation. She was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

 

Bail Violation and Drug Possession

On July 6, 2022 at about 8:30PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located a 52-year-old male in breach of his undertaking conditions and his probation conditions. This male has a specific condition to not be within 300 meters of an address on King St. W. He was found well within that proximity.  Officers arrested the male and while searching him they located a quantity of fentanyl. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of fail to comply with undertaking, fail to comply with probation and possession of fentanyl.     

 

Impaired Driving

On July 8, 2022 at about 1:30AM, the Brockville Police Service performed a traffic stop in the area of Central Ave. The stop was conducted due to driving actions which that lead the officers to believe the driver was impaired. Once the vehicle was stopped, the driver was identified to be a 42-year-old male. The driver appeared to be impaired by a substance and there was drug paraphernalia observed in the vehicle. A field sobriety test was conducted and as a result, the driver was arrested. The driver was taken for testing performed Drug Recognition Expert. It was then confirmed that the male was impaired. The vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and he was charged with operation while impaired by drug.  

 

Warrant Executed at a Residence

The Brockville Police Service, and OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, executed a Search Warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a Brock Street residence in Brockville early this morning.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. officers attended to the residence, and executed the warrant and searched the residence, seizing a drugs and fraudulent documents inside. As a result a 46 year old Brockville man is facing charges of Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and a 26 year old local man is facing charges of Possessing Fraudulent Identification Documents. Both men were conveyed to the Brockville Police Service and will appear in court at a later date. The investigation is continuing at this time.

 

July 1 – 7, 2022 Weekly Statistics

Over the last week from July 1 – July 7, the Brockville Police Service received 309 calls for service. While responding to those calls, there were a total of 19 arrests and three mental health apprehensions. As a result of investigations there were 28 Criminal Charges laid. For traffic enforcement this week, 13 traffic related charges were issued.

July 1 – 3, 2022 News Release

Public Intoxication

On July 1, 2022 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 32-year-old female on a bench on King St. E., with open alcohol. Officers spoke to her and found her to be in a highly intoxicated state. She was unable to be left alone due to safety concerns. She was refusing all safe options that were presented to her to get her off of the street in her state. With the lack of options and concern for her caring for herself, she was taken into custody and held until she was sober.

 

Multiple Disturbances

On July 1, 2022 at about 10:00PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to multiple disturbances. One being an altercation at Hardy Park which started off as two teens fighting. The altercation escalated to the parents becoming involved in the altercation and police attended to break it up. Also, at about the same time, police responded to a disturbance on Blockhouse Island during the Canada Day festivities, regarding a group of people discharging their own fireworks. This group did not have permission to do so and the fireworks actually had discharged into a crowd of people. Some bystanders were struck by the fireworks. No one was seriously injured but minor injuries were sustained by one member in the crowd. Incidents like this are easily avoidable by taking everyone’s safety into consideration. The Brockville Police Service would like remind everyone to consider the actions you take so these holidays and events can be enjoyed by all, safely.

 

Warrants

On July 2, 2022 the Brockville Police Service executed three arrest warrants on different people. A 23-year-old female was arrested in the area of Courthouse Ave., in relation to a warrant for fail to comply with probation issued by Brockville Probation and Parole. A 48-year-old female was arrested in the area of King St. E., in relation to a bench warrant for failing to attend court. Upon searching her, officers located a small quantity of crystal meth which she was additionally charged for possession of. A 32-year-old male was located during a traffic stop in the area of North Augusta Rd. It was found that he was wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with probation. All three individuals were released with new court dates.

 

Bail Violation

On July 2, 2022 at about 2:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a 27-year-old male, who was breaching his undertaking conditions. The male was placed on conditions to abstain from attending a residence on Laurier Blvd. and from communicating with the home owner, due to identified safety concerns. Police attended and found the male at the residence. It was learned that the male abruptly entered the home and began yelling and throwing things. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing for two counts of failing to comply with undertaking.

 

Bail Violation

On July 2, 2022 at about 11:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a 31-year-old male who had breached his recognizance conditions. Information was that the male was on conditions to abstain from attending a residence on Reynolds Dr. Officers attended and located the male. He was arrested for failing to comply with the recognizance (peace bond) and failing to comply with his probation. Upon being searched, the officers located a quantity of crystal meth. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for breaching his recognizance, probation and possession of crystal meth. 

 

Conditional Sentence Order

On July 3, 2022 at about 6:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a 27-year-old female breaching her Conditional Sentence Order conditions. Information was that the female had attended to a residence on Brock St. where she was to abstain from attending. Officers arrived and confirmed she was there. She was placed under arrest for breaching the order. Upon searching her, officers located a quantity of crystal meth. She was held for a bail hearing for breaching her Conditional Sentence Order and a charge of possession of crystal meth. 

 

Motor Vehicle Collision

On July 3, 2022 at about 6:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information regarding a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Stewart Blvd and Centennial Rd. Information was that a motorcycle was South Bound on Stewart Blvd. entering into the City. Then an SUV travelling North Bound on Stewart Blvd. turned left to head West on Centennial Rd. When the SUV turned the motorcycle then struck the SUV. The rider of the motorcycle was immediately transported to Kingston General Hospital by paramedics due to non-life-threatening, but serious injuries. No injuries were reported to occupants of the SUV. The intersection was blocked off and OPP Technical Collision Investigators attended the scene. Once the investigation of the scene was complete, the intersection was reopened. The investigation is still ongoing and charges have not been laid at this time.     

 

June 24 – July 1 Calls for Service

Weeks Statistics

Over the last week from June 24 – July 1, the Brockville Police Service received 388 calls for service.

While responding to those calls, there were a total of 7 arrests and 6 mental health apprehensions. As a result of investigations there were 25 Criminal Charges laid during the week.  Officers’ efforts in regards to traffic enforcement within the City resulted in 58 traffic related charges being issued.

As you can see the calls for service were very demanding but community safety is our priority.

June 27 – 29, 2022 News Release

Secure Your Property

On June 27, 2022 at about 9:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a motorcycle that was stolen from a residence on Church St. The incident is under investigation. While some larger items may be more difficult to secure, we are again recommending to everyone in the community to do what they are able to secure items of value. Many of these types of incidents can be prevented by taking simple steps to ensure security.

 

Bail Violation

On June 28, 2022 at about 1:00AM, the Brockville Police Service observed a 61-year-old male in the area of Broad St. and Water St. The male is known to be on conditions to not be within a measured distance of a residence within that area. The male was found to be in breach of that condition as he was well within the distance stipulated. The male was arrested and held for bail for the offences of fail to comply with release order and fail to comply with probation.  

 

Conditional Sentence Order Violation

On June 29, 2022 at about 4:00AM, the Brockville Police Service observed a 31-year-old male in the area of William St., known to be wanted for a breach of his Conditional Sentence Order. One of the conditions he was to abide by was house arrest. Police had learned previously that he had breached that condition on multiple dates, which resulted in the arrest warrant. When officers observed him, the male attempted to evade police. Officers searched and located the male in the area. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing for breaching the Conditional Sentence Order. 

June 24 – 26, 2022 News Release

Domestic Dispute

On June 24, 2022 at about 11:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a female screaming with a group of people were gathering to assist her, in the area of the Library on Buell St. Police attended and investigation revealed that this was the result of a domestic dispute. A 31-year-old male was in an argument with his girlfriend in the area where he had shoved her to the ground and slashed one of the tires on her bike. The male fled prior to police arrival however, he was located shortly after. He was arrested for assault and mischief. He was searched and officers located a small quantity of crystal meth. He was charged with assault, mischief under $5,000.00, breach probation and possession of a crystal meth. He was released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.

 

Impaired Driving

On June 26, 2022 at about 5:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information about a 42-year-old male, who left a residence on St. Andrew St. after a dispute. When the male left, it was believed that he was intoxicated and operating a vehicle. Investigation revealed that the male attended to his residence and officers spoke to him there. An alcohol screening breath demand was made and samples were taken, which, resulted in a fail. He was arrested for operation while impaired – over 80mg. He was taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing which confirmed that he was driving with over 80mg of alcohol in his blood. His vehicle was impounded, licence was suspended and he was charged with operation while impaired and operation over 80mg. He was later released with a future court date.   

 

Family Dispute Results in Assault Charge

On June 26, 2022 at about 8:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a mother being assaulted by her 27-year-old son, in the area of Laurier Blvd. Information was that the mother and son relationship had been struggling for some time. For this incident, an argument was taking place which lead to the son slapping his mother across the face. Officers attended and attempted to discuss the situation with the son. As a result of the investigation and concerns for safety, the male was placed under arrest for assault. He was transported to the Brockville Police Service and later was released on an undertaking with conditions to ensure safety and issued a future court date.

 

Enforcement by Marine at Tall Ships Festival

Over the weekend the Brockville Police Service had extra officers patrolling during the Tall Ships Festival to help ensure that everyone was able to safely enjoy the festivities. During the weekend our deployed Marine Unit enforced various Provincial Offences including; open liquor on a boat and a person not wearing a personal floatation device on a paddle board. These tickets are never nice to receive, but they are an important part of education and a reminder for people to make the right choice to stay safe.

June 23 – 24, 2022 News Release

Bail Violation and Breaching Conditional Sentence Order

On June 24, 2022 at about 12:30AM, the Brockville Police Service was investigating a complaint of three suspicious youths in the area of James St. W. While officers were in the area they located a 44-year-old male in Victoria Park. The male was found to be on a release order with a curfew condition to be within his residence between the hours of 8:00PM and 6:00AM. He was also on a Conditional Sentence Order breaching the same condition. He was arrested, charged with breaching his release order and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Compliance Check Leads to Breach Charges

On June 23, 2022 at about 11:00PM, the Brockville Police Service performed a compliance check on a 36-year-old male in the area of Ormond St. The male was on a release order with conditions to remain within his residence between the hours of 10:00PM and 6:00AM. When police attended the residence it was found that he was not home. Shortly after police left the residence, the male learned that police were seeking to contact him due to the breach of the condition. The male turned himself into the police a short time later. He was charged with failing to comply with release order and released with a future court date.

June 17 – 24, 2022 Week Statistics

Over the last week from June 17 – June 24, as of the time this release has been sent, the Brockville Police Service:

  • received 293 calls for service
  • there were a total of 14 arrests
  • 32 Criminal Charges laid
  • 14 traffic related charges were issued

June 20 – 22, 2022 News Release

Tall Ships Festival

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the Tall Ships Festival. The festival will take place at the waterfront of Brockville. It will be three days of fun for everyone who attends. There is an expectation that there will be an influx of traffic throughout the city during the weekend. The Brockville Police Service would like to remind people to plan ahead, do not rush and please be safe! Let’s all enjoy the festival together!

 

Bail Violation

On June 20, 2022 at about 11:00PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a 30-year-old male, breaching his bail undertaking conditions. Information was that the male was attending to a home on North Augusta Rd. where he was attempting to visit another young female. The home owner did not want the male on the property. It was later learned by police that the male was on probation with conditions to abstain from communicating with the female and from attending the residence where she resides. It was learned that the female was in communication with the male about attending the residence. He was contacted by police and was cooperative. He turned himself into the Brockville Police on June 21, 2022 at about 10:00AM. He was charged with two counts of fail to comply with undertaking and held for a bail hearing.

 

Warrants

On June 22, 2022 at about 9:00AM, the Brockville Police Service received information from the OPP in Morrisburg, that they had a 40-year-old male in their custody. The male was wanted on a warrants out of Brockville for failing to appear for fingerprinting and failing to appear for court on drug possession charge dated back in 2018. The Brockville Police Service attended to the OPP detachment in Morrisburg and served the male paperwork for a future court date. He was left in the custody of the OPP.

Further;

On June 22, 2022 at about Noon, the Brockville Police Service received information from the Smiths Falls Police Service that they had a 26-year-old male in their custody. The male was wanted for failing to attend court stemming from a charge of uttering threats and breach probation from January this year. He was brought back to the Brockville Police Service and held for a bail hearing.
