Motor Vehicle Collision results in minor injuries

At approximately 3:20 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Brockville Police responded to a head-on motor vehicle collision with injuries between two pick-up trucks on King Street West in the area of St. Lawrence Park.

Witnesses report seeing a westbound truck swerve into the eastbound lane and into the path of another truck travelling east into the City’s downtown core. Passengers in both vehicles suffered minor injuries were taken to Brockville General Hospital and treated for minor injuries and later released.

The 34 year old male driver of the westbound vehicle is facing charges of careless driving and failure to produce his insurance card.

 

 

Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspections

The Brockville Police partnered with the Ministry of Transportation Enforcement division conducting Commercial Motor Vehicle inspections in the city yesterday.  Of the 10 vehicles selected for inspection, 6 were placed out of service, 3 had license plates removed. In total 12 Provincial Offence notices were issued for a variety of violations as well as numerous warnings issued.

 

 

Property Recovered from Rotary Park

The Brockville Police are trying to reunite the owner of a bag containing several valuable personal items found at the Rotary Park yesterday afternoon with its owner.

The bag contained a cell phone, glasses and case, various cards, and other personal items. If someone was at the park yesterday and lost their bag, please contact the Brockville Police at 613-342-0127 and describe the contents of the bag so police can make arrangements to get the property returned.

 

August 8 – 9, 2022 Media Release

It was a fairly busy 24 hour period for officers with the Brockville Police who responded to 36 calls for service including 2 arrests, 2 apprehensions under the Mental Health Act, and another arrest of an Adult male who turned himself in at the Brockville Police Headquarters on several outstanding warrants and is being held for a bail hearing later today.

 

Theft of Catalytic Converter

A local car dealership was the target of thieves stealing a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked on their lot over the weekend.

Sometime between Saturday night at 7pm and Monday morning suspects attended to the lot of Riverside Ford and removed the catalytic converter from a 2017 F-150 pick-up truck parked on the lot.  When staff reported for work on Monday morning and noticed the damage, police were contacted and attended.

Anyone who has information or observed suspicious persons or vehicles around the Riverside Ford lot over the weekend is asked to contact the Brockville Police at 613-342-0127 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

If members of the public observe suspicious activity around car dealership lots such as crawling under vehicles, attempting door handles, suspicious vehicles in the area for extended periods of time or using electronic devices around vehicles after normal business hours is asked to contact Brockville Police immediately.

 

 

Theft from Local Convenience Store leads to additional charges

A 54 year old Brockville area man was arrested early this morning after staff at a local convenience noticed him taking items from the shelves and confronted him as left the store without paying.

At 3:50 a.m. this morning Brockville Police were called to a local convenience store after the male pushed passed the employee and fled the store on foot. Responding officers who were nearby were able to locate the intoxicated male and place him under arrest in relation to the incident.

Further investigation revealed the man was also responsible for two other reported thefts to the Brockville Police Service earlier this summer and was additionally charged for those occurrences. He is also facing several charges in relation to this morning’s incident.

July 29 – August 4, 2022 Calls for Service Statistics

Weeks Statistics

Over the last week from July 29 – Aug 4, the Brockville Police Service received 292 calls for service. While responding to those calls, there were a total of 15 arrests and one mental health apprehension. As a result of investigations there were 20 Criminal Charges laid. Officers continue to monitor traffic within the City and as a result, 26 traffic related charges were issued as well. Some of these statistics do not reflect everything an officer accomplishes in shift. It is simply a quick look at what the Brockville Police Service is doing to ensure safety and security.

 

August 3 – 4, 2022 Media Release

Causing a Disturbance and Breaching Probation

On August 3, 2022 at about 5:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a 26-year-old male on King St. W., being described as out of control. Officers arrived and learned that the male was acting in an aggressive manner and almost caused a fight with an unrelated citizen on the street. Luckily, no physical confrontation occurred. Police arrested the male and took him into custody. Later, once the male was calm, he was released after being charged with causing a disturbance and failing to comply with probation.

 

Impaired Operation of vehicle and Drug Possession

On August 3, 2022 at about 11:45PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a female at the Days Inn hotel in a vehicle and apparently impaired. Officers attended the area and located the 44-year-old female suspect, now across the road at the Brockville Shopping Centre parking lot. Sobriety testing was completed indicating that the female was impaired by drugs. She was arrested and taken for examination by a Drug Recognition Expert. Further testing was completed and confirmed that she was impaired by drugs. The vehicle was searched after her arrest and officers located a small quantity of cocaine. Once the investigation was complete and it was safe to do so, the female was released after being charged with operation while impaired and possession of cocaine. Her vehicle was towed and driver’s licence suspended.

 

Warrants and Drugs     

On August 4, 2022 at 1:00AM, the Brockville Police Service learned that a 34-year-old female was at The Bar on King St. W. The female was known to have a bench warrant for her arrest for failing to attend court in relation to charges of assault and breach probation. Officers attended and arrested the female. Upon searching her, officers located a quantity of cocaine. She was additionally charged with possession of cocaine and held in custody for a bail hearing. 

 

Drug Possession

On August 4, 2022 at about 10:00PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service conducted a motor vehicle stop on North Augusta Rd., regarding equipment related violations. During the stop, one of the occupants was identified to be a 23-year-old male, known to be on house arrest conditions of a release order. He was placed under arrest. Two other occupants in the vehicle were identified to be 20 and 21-year-old males. Further investigation revealed that the occupants were in possession of a large quantity of cocaine. The other 2 males were also arrested. The outcome was as follows; the 20-year-old male was charged with possession of cocaine and released with a future court date. The 21-year-old male was charged with possession of cocaine, drive vehicle with cannabis readily available and various traffic related charges. He was also released with a future court date. The 23-year-old male was charged with failing to comply with his release order bail conditions and possession of cocaine. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. 

July 29 – July 31, 2022 News Release

Disturbance Leads to Trespass and Assault

On July 29, 2022 at about 4:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information from the Via Rail staff that there was a male on the train causing issues and they were approaching 00PM, towards the Niagara Region. As the train pulled into Brockville, officers attended and spoke to staff. They identified the 56-year-old male to be the one causing problems on the train and were asking him to be removed for the comfort and safety of the other passengers as staff. The male refused to leave when directed. During the process of police removing the male under the Trespass to Property Act, the male was assaultive towards police and threatened both police and Via Rail employees. A physical altercation took place while removing the male from the train. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. The male was found to be carrying a concealed knife on him at the time of the incident. He was arrested and held for bail for the offences of two counts of uttering threats, assault peace officer, resist arrest and carrying a concealed weapon.   

 

Drugs

On July 30, 2022 at about 10:30PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 34-year-old female, sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle parked at Pizza Pizza on Parkedale Ave. There were concerns that the female was impaired while occupying the vehicle. Testing was performed that determined she was not impaired, however, she was found to be in possession of crystal meth. She was arrested and charged with possession of crystal meth and released with a future court date.

Further;

On July 31, 2022 shortly after midnight, officers from the Brockville Police Service located a 52-year-old male in the area of Henry St. It was discovered that this male was in possession of cocaine. The male had lied about his identity multiple times to officers. Once officers did properly determine the identity, the male was charged with obstruct peace officer, possession of cocaine and issued a future court date.

 

Theft

On July 30, 2022 at about 5:30PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service located a male matching the description of a suspect involved in a theft that took place on July 21, 2022. The theft as described as a bicycle being stolen from out front of The Score on King St. W. Once officers identified the suspect, he attempted to evade police. Officers did eventually locate him and placed him under arrest. Further investigation confirmed the details of the previous theft and the suspects identity to be that of an 18-year-old male. The male was charged with theft under $5,000.00 and released with a future court date. 

 

Warrants

On July 30, 2022 at about 9:00PM, the Brockville Police Service learned of a 34-year-old male who was arrested by the OPP in the Morrisburg. He was arrested on a bench warrant issued out of Brockville for failing to attend court. He was transported to the Brockville Police Service where he was processed and released with a future court date. 

Further;

On August 2, 2022 at about 9:00AM, a 35-year-old male turned himself into the Brockville Police Service as he had knowledge of an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant was for the offence of failing to comply with his undertaking conditions, as the male had contacted an individual he was to abstain from communicating with. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

 

Deceased Female found at Waste Management July 22, 2022

On Friday July 22nd, 2022 shortly after 10am the Brockville Police were contacted by staff at the Waste Management Landfill and Recycling Facility on California Ave in Brockville after an unidentified deceased female was located within their recycling sorting facility. Officers from the Brockville Police Service including members of the Criminal Investigations office attended to the site and located the female amongst a load of cardboard which had been transferred to the Brockville site from another waste transfer site in Eastern Ontario.

Officers contained the scene and vehicles involved and requested the assistance of the East Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Forensic Identification Unit. With the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit the deceased was positively identified as a female in her thirties from the Napanee-Belleville-Trenton area. Next of kin have been located and notified and at the request of the family her identity will not be released.

Yesterday at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, a forensic post mortem examination was conducted with officers from the OPP Forensic Identification Unit and the Brockville Police Service in attendance. Investigators now await the completion of further tests before the post mortem report is complete.

Investigating officers are in contact with other police agencies in an effort to determine how the young women arrived at the Brockville facility. At present, there is no information to suggest there is any risk to members of the public.

July 18 – 19, 2022 News Release

Warrant Executed in Relation to Domestic Dispute

On July 18, 2022 at about 12:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information from the OPP regarding a 33-year-old male who they had in custody. The male was wanted on a warrant for the offences of uttering threats and criminal harassment. The arrest warrant was issued by the Brockville Police Service as a result of an investigation into a domestic related incident that took place on July 13, 2022. The threats and harassing behaviour are historical in nature with a high concern for the victim’s safety. The male was turned over to the Brockville Police Service and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Impaired Driving

On July 19, 2022 at about 8:30PM, officers from the Brockville Police Service observed a vehicle travelling at a dangerously high rate of speed on Park St. Officers followed and located the vehicle in the area of Pearl St. W. and William St. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified to be a 43-year-old male. It was then noticed that the male had been consuming alcohol and displayed signs of impairment. The male was arrested for impaired and dangerous driving. He was then taken to the Brockville Police Service for breath samples. Once the samples were complete it confirmed that the male was operating the vehicle while over the legal limit of alcohol. He was later released after being charged with operating while impaired, operating while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mg and dangerous driving. His driver’s licence was suspended and vehicle was impounded.

 

Warrant

On July 18, 2022 at about 3:00PM, a 15-year-old female had turned herself in for warrant execution. The female had an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a charge of uttering threats. She was placed under arrest by the Brockville Police Service and released shortly after with a future court date.

 

July 15 – 17, 2022 News Release

Impaired Driving

On July 15, 2022 at about 08:00AM, the Brockville Police Service has received information of a fail to remain motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Stewart Blvd and Centennial Rd. The vehicle that had fled the scene had previous reports of possible impaired driving to the OPP just prior to the collision. The OPP assisted and located the suspect at their residence just on the outskirts of the City. The driver of the vehicle was identified to be a 39-year-old female. It appeared at that time that the female was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested by the OPP and taken to the Brockville Police Service in continuation of the collision and impaired driving investigation. Breath samples were demanded, however, the female refused to provide a sample. The female was charged with fail to provide a breath sample by the OPP and the Brockville Police Service charged her with fail to remain at the scene of an accident. She was also subject to a driver’s licence suspension and vehicle impoundment.

 

Bail Violation

On July 16, 2022 at about 4:30PM, the Brockville Police Service located two males observed together in the area of Hardy Park. One of the males was identified to be a 23-year-old male who is on release order bail conditions. One of the conditions was to abstain from associating with the anyone known to have a drug related criminal record. The male he was associating with was known to have a previous drug related criminal record. It was also learned he was on a probation order. As officers approached, the 23-year-old male fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit by the officers, he was arrested. The male continued to be uncooperative with police and resisted arrest. This behaviour continued for some time but it is important to note that no one was injured in the incident. The male was held for a bail hearing for the offences of failing to comply with release order, failing to comply with probation and resisting a peace officer.      

 

Impaired Driving

On July 16, 2022 at about 10:30PM, the Brockville Police Service conducted a traffic stop in the area of Buell St. The officer identified the driver to be a 31-year-old male and developed the belief that the male had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening demand was made and a breath sample taken. The sample registered a fail. The male was then arrested and brought to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. It was confirmed that the driver was operating over the legal limit of alcohol. He was charged with operate while impaired and operate while impaired – blood alcohol over 80mg. Further to this his driver’s licence was suspended and vehicle impounded.

 

Assault

On July 16, 2022 at about 11:30PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service was on general patrol when they came across two females in a physical altercation in the area of Pearl St. E. It was determined that one of the females was a 33-year-old female. She was the one responsible for initiating the fight by spitting on the other female and threatening bodily harm. The 33-year-old female was arrested and the situation diffused with no one being injured. The female was charged with uttering threats to cause bodily harm and assault. She was later released with conditions and a future court date.  

 

Traffic Enforcement / Stunt Driving

On July 17, 2022 at about 5:00PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service was observing traffic on Stewart Blvd. They identified a 46-year-old male who was operating his vehicle at a speed of 97km/h in the 50km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was charged with stunt driving. His driver’s licence was suspended and vehicle impounded.

 

Warrants

On July 15, 2022 at about 9:45PM, the Brockville Police Service conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the City, where they located a 25-year-old female driver. It was learned that the female had a bench warrant for their arrest for failing to attend court. The warrant was held by the OPP. Brockville Police Service arrested and released the female with a future court date.

Further;

On July 16, 2022 at about 8:30PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 33-year-old male in the area of Brock St. It was known that the male was wanted on a bench warrant for fail to attend court and a separate warrant in relation to a charge of theft under $5,000.00. The male was arrested and later released with a future court date.

While responding to those calls, there were a total of 13 arrests and six mental health apprehensions. As a result of investigations there were 23 Criminal Charges laid. July 12 – 14, 2022 News Release

Break and Enter

On July 13, 2022 at about 9:30AM, the Brockville Police Received a report of a B&E at a residence on Park St. Suspects entered into a shed on the property of the residence. Missing from the shed was an off-road motorcycle and about $800 worth of power tools. Not long after the report, the motorcycle was located in the creek in the area of Front Ave and Stewart Blvd. It was recovered and returned to the owner. The various tools are still outstanding. Theft

On July 13, 2022 at about 12:30PM, the Brockville Police Service received information of a 3 wheel ATV taken from a residence on Louis St. The yard to this residence was fenced however, the fence was left unlocked. The 3 wheel ATV was later recovered in the area of the CN rail yard. This is another incident that reminds everyone in the community to make every effort to secure their property, to help prevent these types of incidents from occurring. 

 

Bail Violations

On July 14, 2022 at about 4:00PM, an officer from the Brockville Police Service observed a vehicle on Brock St. being operated by a 29-year-old female. The female was known to be on an undertaking with conditions to abstain from operating a motor vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and the female was arrested without incident. She was later released with a future court date after being charged with fail to comply with undertaking.

 

Domestic Disturbance

On July 14, 2022 at about 6:15PM, the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a domestic disturbance at an apartment building on Laurier Blvd. Information was that a female and male were in a heated argument. Police arrived on scene and diffused the situation. Investigation revealed that the 25-year-old female involved in the dispute had caused damage to a screen door and drywall in the residence. As a result, the female was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.00 and released on undertaking conditions along with a future court date.

 

Warrants

On July 12, 2022 at about 11:00AM, a 28-year-old female turned herself into the Brockville Police Service, as she was aware of two outstanding arrest warrants for theft. She was taken into custody and released on paperwork with a new court date.

On July 12, 2022 at about 12:45PM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a dispute in the area of Bartholomew St. Police arrived and diffused a situation between two males. While there, officers identified a 16-year-old female who had a warrant for her arrest for the offences of assault and mischief under $5,000.00. She was arrested and later released with paperwork and a future court date.

On July 12, 2022 at about 8:30PM, the Brockville Police Service located a 45-year-old female in the area of the CN tracks, who was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court. The warrant was held by the OPP. The female was arrested without incident and turned over to the OPP for processing.
