News Release – November 4 – 6, 2023

Domestic Dispute Investigation Leads to an Arrest

On October 31, 2023, at about 8:00pm, police received a call in relation to a domestic dispute in the area of King St. E. While officers investigated, they learned of previous incidents which had taken place. A 36-year-old, male, involved had pushed the victim onto the bed and forcefully took a cellphone as well as threw dinner plates causing damage in the residence. He was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and behave. The male had left the area and police were seeking an arrest warrant. On November 4, 2023, at about 1:30am, police received a 911 hang-up call from the residence on King St. E. Police attended and located the male subject. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault, mischief under $5,000.00 and fail to comply with probation. 

 

Male Arrested on Weapons and Drug Offences

On November 4, 2023, at about 8:45pm, police received a call regarding a suspicious person believed to be tampering with a vehicle, on Central Ave. Officers arrived and located the 28-year-old, male, in question. Investigation revealed that the male was in possession of an 18-inch-long machete, a quantity of methamphetamine and $435.00 in cash. He was arrested for possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking. The items were seized and he was released with conditions and a future court date.  

 

Motor Vehicle Rollover

On November 5, 2023, at about 4:30am, police received a call regarding an unoccupied vehicle that had flipped upside down, in the area of King St. W. When officers arrived, they confirmed the vehicle was unoccupied. Witnesses believe the vehicle rolled-over at approximately 2:30am, and the incident was not reported at that time. Police attended the residence of the registered owner and located the 37-year-old, male, responsible for driving the vehicle at the time. Injuries to the male are described as non-life-threatening. After further investigation, the male was arrested for failure to stop after accident and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Impaired Driving

On November 5, 2023, at about 9:30pm, police received a call of a 37-year-old, male, who appeared to be intoxicated at the Superstore on Parkedale Ave. The male was observed leaving the store and entering a vehicle in the parking lot. He then left the area and was observed swerving as he drove away. Officers responded and with investigation, located the male, in the vehicle, in the area of Massey Pl. The male was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for testing, where it was confirmed he was operating while impaired. The vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence suspended. He was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. He was released with conditions and a future court date.

Male Arrested for Breaching Probation

On November 3, 2023, at about 5:00am, police received a call from a female on Perth St., advising her 30-year-old, ex-boyfriend, was in her backyard and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. It was quickly identified that the male was on three separate probation orders with various conditions. Some of which are to abstain from communicating with the female complainant. Officers arrived and located the male subject. When officers arrested him, he attempted to flee and fight with officers. Control was quickly gained and no one was seriously injured. Officers also believed the male to be under the influence of drugs. He was charged with trespass by night, resist arrest and three counts of fail to comply with probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Domestic Disturbance Investigation Leads to an Arrest

On October 31, 2023, at about 4:30pm, police received a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance in the area of Bramshot Ave. Officers attended the location and spoke with the couple involved. Investigation revealed that the two engaged in an argument which escalated to the point that a 56-year-old, male, had struck his girlfriend and threw items at her. The male was placed under arrest and the investigation continued. Further evidence was discovered of previous assaults that had taken place. Any injuries are considered non-life-threatening. The male was charged with three counts of assault and released with conditions and a future court date.

 

Male Held for Bail After Multiple Calls and Non-Compliance with Conditions

On October 29, 2023, at about 3:00pm, police received a report of an assault that had taken place on King St. W. Investigation revealed that a 34-year-old, male, was in an altercation with a female, where they were yelling and shouting. As a result, a minor assault occurred and the victim was not injured. The male was arrested and charged with assault. He was placed on conditions to not communicate with or attend the residence of the victim, and released with a future court date.

Later that day, at about 9:00pm, police received new information that the 34-year-old, male, had attended to the residence on George St. where the victim was staying. Police responded quickly and located the male hiding in the rear yard of the residence. He was immediately arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offence of failing to comply with undertaking.

Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Trafficking Charges

On October 29, 2023, at about 2:00am, police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Central Ave. Investigation revealed that there were three occupants in the vehicle. They were identified as a 54-year-old, female and a 44-year-old, male, from Ottawa. The third occupant was a 35-year-old, male, from Brockville. During the stop, it was discovered that the occupants were in possession of a large quantity of various drugs, a knife and cash. All three subjects were arrested and all items in relation to the possession of the drugs were seized. The following is a list of the variety of drugs seized; Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Hash, Morphine pills, Adderall pills, Hydromorphone pills, Xanax, Benzo tabs, cocaine, steroids and $7,300 in cash. The total approximate street value of this seizure is $160,000. All three were charged with eight counts of possession of a substance in Schedule I, two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking a substance in Schedule IV, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and possession of illicit cannabis. They were all held in custody for a bail hearing. 

News Release – October 19 – 24, 2023

Impaired Driving

On October 19, 2023, at about 3:30pm, police were called to the RBC on Parkedale Ave., to investigate a suspicious request by a 58-year-old, male, with concerns he was falling victim to fraud. The male making the request was in the bank and upset. Officers discovered that the male had actually been consuming alcohol and had driven to the bank. After more investigation, the male had been arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for testing. It was discovered he was not operating the vehicle over 80mg, but had been drinking and was currently prohibited from driving. When searching the male, he was also found to be in possession of cocaine. He was later released after being charged with operation while prohibited, possession of cocaine and fail to comply with probation and released with a court date. The investigation in relation to any fraudulent activity is still under investigation. 

 

Weapons

On October 19, 2023, at about 3:45pm, police were called to the King St. W. and John St. area, in relation to a male with a gun. It was described that a male had left a store in that area and was observed concealing a handgun in his waistband. Officers quickly attended the area searching for the described male. Very shortly after, the suspect was located and identified to be a 27-year-old, male. He was found to be in possession of an item that was determined to be a cap gun. However, the witnesses did not know, believed it was real and this behaviour was concerning for others. The male was charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and fail to comply with probation. He was released with a future court date.

 

Domestic Assault Leads to an Arrest

On October 22, 2023, at about 3:30pm, police received a call to attend a residence on Ormond St., regarding an unwanted person. Officers attended and investigation revealed that the people involved were in a relationship. A 40-year-old, female, was visiting the residence where they both had been drinking. The two were involved in a dispute throughout the night where the female had assaulted him by striking him several times and pushing him to cause damage to a window. As a result, she was arrested for assault. Once she was sober she was released on conditions and a future court date.

 

Impaired Driving

On October 24, 2023, at about 3:00am, police received a call regarding a collision with significant damage to both vehicles. Investigation revealed that a 36-year-old, male, was driving dangerously on King St. W. Due to his driving behaviour, a collision occurred with a parked vehicle. The male fled the area leaving his passenger behind. Officers spoke to the passenger and later located the driver of the vehicle in the nearby area. The driver received injuries that are considered non-life-threatening; however, he was taken to the Brockville General Hospital for care. It was discovered that the male had been consuming alcohol. A breath demand was refused and he would not comply. As a result, his driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and was charged with refusal to comply with a demand, operation while impaired and dangerous operation. He was later released with conditions and a future court date. Luckily, no one was seriously injured.

October 12 – 15, 2023 News Release

Domestic Disturbance Leads to an Arrest

 

On October 12, 2023, at about 10:30pm, police received a 911 call from a female advising that she had just been assaulted by her 25-year-old, boyfriend, and that he was about to initiate a fight with her father. Police attended the area of Havelock St., where this was reported to be taking place. The 25-year-old, male, was located in the area after being involved is a physical altercation with the father. He was arrested and further investigation revealed that the male had previously assaulted the female by throwing her into a wall and also causing other damage in their apartment. The male then left the Kensington Pkwy. area residence to engage in the physical confrontation with her father. No one was deemed to have life threatening injuries. The 25-year-old, male, was charged with assault, mischief under $5,000 and held for a bail hearing in relation to the incident with his girlfriend.

 

Impaired Driving

 

On October 14, 2023, at about 8:00pm, police received a call regarding a female in the Superstore parking lot, that had run out of fuel. The caller had then advised that they believed the female was possibly intoxicated. Officers attended and located the 50-year-old, female, in question. Officers observed signs of impairment by alcohol and she was placed under arrest. She was taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing where it was confirmed that she was impaired and over the legal limit. Her vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. She was released with a future court date.

 

Male Arrested After Domestic Dispute

 

On October 14, 2023, at about 1:00am, police received a call to attend the Walmart parking lot, in relation to a female screaming at a male in a vehicle. Officers arrived and located the couple along with their young child. Investigation revealed that the two had been in a verbal altercation consisting of childish antics and insults for much of the evening. This continued to escalate to a point that the 28-year-old, male, flew into a fit of rage. He assaulted the female by getting on top of her and striking her arms and torso in front of their child. He then proceeded to choke the female while she struggled to escape. During that struggle, she was able to call 911 for assistance. Police arrested and charged the male with two counts of assault, overcome resistance and uttering threats. Safety planning was discussed and he was released with conditions and a future court date.       

 

Male Arrested for Robbery

 

On October 15, 2023, at about 10:15pm, police received a call in the area of King St. W., regarding a 46-year-old, male, attempting to take someone’s dog. Police learned that the 46-year-old, male in question, was on conditions to not be outside his residence after consuming alcohol. The male had been consuming and became upset over his own belief that a particular female was not caring for her dog properly. He attempted to take the dog from the female and became assaultive to do so. Police arrived shortly after and placed the male under arrest. He was charged with robbery with violence and fail to comply with release order. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. There were no serious or life-threatening injuries as a result.

 

October 7 – 11, 2023 News Release

Thanksgiving Weekend

During Thanksgiving weekend, the Brockville Police Service responded to 109 calls for service. As a result of those calls police laid four criminal code charges, six Highway Traffic Act charges and four other Provincial Offences consisting of Liquor Licence Act and Trespassing charges.

 

Warrant Executed During RIDE Program

On October 8, 2023, at about 12:15am, police were conducting RIDE stop checks in the area of William St. During this time, police stopped a vehicle being operated by a 37-year-old, female. A package of unstamped tobacco was observed on the passenger seat of the vehicle. Those were seized and a ticket was issued for possession of unmarked cigarettes. Further investigation revealed that there was also a warrant for her arrest for fraud over $5,000.00, as a result of an investigation in March this year. She was placed under arrest and released with a future court date.

 

Male Arrested During Domestic Disturbance Investigation

On October 10, 2023, at about 11:00pm, police received a call to a residence on Buell St., regarding a domestic dispute. Officers arrived and spoke to a 36-year-old, male alone with his female partner. Investigation revealed that the female had been assaulted by the male by striking her. The female received non-life-threatening injuries. The male was placed under arrest for assault and failing to comply with probation. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

On October 11, 2023, at about 3:00am, police received a call to attend a residence on Windsor Dr., in relation to a domestic dispute. Initially the information came to police that a female had been assaulted. Investigation revealed that the 27-year-old, female, involved in the dispute was the aggressor and had assaulted her male partner. He received minor, non-life-threatening injuries. She was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.00 for causing damage to some property. She was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Two Suspects Arrested After Being Found in a Residence

On October 3, 2023, at about 11:30am, police received a call regarding sounds of people arguing and items being thrown in an apartment in Balmoral Pl. Officers attended the area and located the apartment in question. There, two male suspects were located; one was a 29-year-old, male, who attempted to flee out a window. The second was a 37-year-old, male, who was found hiding in the bathroom. Investigation revealed that the resident of the apartment was away, these two males did not have permission to be there at the time and had made entry into the unit. Both males were arrested and later released with future court dates. The 29-year-old, male, was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling and the 37-year-old, male, was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling and fail to comply with probation.

 

Fire at an Encampment

On October 4, 2023, at about 11:30pm, police responded to the area of Kyle Crt., to assist the Brockville Fire Department, in relation to a bush fire. This fire took place in what is known to be a homeless encampment, on the West end of Kyle Crt. Brockville Fire Department responded quickly and was able to control extinguish the fire. However, the dangers of this fire cannot go unnoticed. Not only is the spread of fire dangerous, within the area there were several small explosions which were believed to be caused by propane or fuel containers. The encampment was found to be vacant at the time and luckily, no one was injured in the incident. This is an important reminder for the need of everyone to promote fire safety.

 

Driving While Prohibited

On October 5, 2023, at about 4:30am, police stopped an un-plated motorcycle, in the area of Stewart Blvd. The driver was identified to be a 38-year-old, male, who investigation revealed was prohibited from driving. This was in relation to a previous impaired driving conviction. As a result, the motorcycle was impounded and the driver was charged with operation while prohibited. He was released with a future court date.       

News Release September 29 – October 2, 2023

Shoplifter Arrested

On September 29, 2023, at about 12:00pm, police received a complaint regarding a theft that occurred at Canadian Tire on Parkedale Ave. Information was that a suspect had attended the store and selected an electric bike, valued at approximately $2,800.00. The suspect fled the area after staff attempted to stop them. Investigation revealed that the suspect was a 47-year-old, male. The following day, on September 30, 2023, at about 11:45am, police located the male suspect in the area of Central Ave. He was placed under arrest and held for a bail hearing for the offences of theft under $5,000.00 and failing to comply with probation.

 

Male Arrested After an Assault and Breaching Non-communication Conditions

On September 29, 2023, at about 3:30pm, police received a call to a residence in the area of Central Ave., in relation to a 47-year-old, male, unwelcome and not leaving the residence. Investigation revealed that the male was on undertaking, bail conditions, to abstain from communicating with the female complainant, due to previous safety concerns. The male was intoxicated, throwing items around and finally when he decided to leave, he shoved the complainant and attended a different residence. Police began communicating with the male and he eventually turned himself over for arrest. The male was held for a bail hearing for the offences of unlawfully in a dwelling, assault and two counts of fail to comply with undertaking.

 

Assault with Weapon at Restaurant

On September 30, 2023, at about 6:45pm, a 32-year-old, female, attended a restaurant in the North area of Brockville. While there, staff became concerned with how many alcohol beverages the female had consumed and cut her off from further purchases. This upset the female and resulted in her slapping and striking the server with her cane. Police were notified and they attended and placed the female under arrest. She was charged with assault, assault with a weapon and later released with conditions and a future court date.  

 

Break and Enter

On October 1, 2023, at about 6:45pm, police received a call regarding a suspect who was observed throwing a rock through a window at Beattie Dodge on Chase St. The suspect was observed entering the building and police responded quickly to search the area. This resulted in the suspect attempting to flee on foot, however, officers were able to make the arrest without anyone being injured. Police identified the suspect to be a 39-year-old male, who was already on probation. He was charged with break and enter, three counts of fail to comply with probation and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Assault and Multiple Disturbances

On October 2, 2023, at about 12:15am, police received information of a suspicious person causing a disturbance by yelling and banging on doors to a residence on King St. E. The suspicious person was described as intoxicated female, who was believed to be a neighbour to the complainant.  Once the banging stopped, the complainant exited the residence for a moment. Then she was confronted by the suspicious person where she was punched in the face after a brief argument. Police attended but were unable to locate the suspect, until later at about 2:30am, when another disturbance call was received in the area. Now, the same female suspect from the previous incident was involved in another altercation with a separate person. Police did arrest the intoxicated, 24-year-old, female. She was found to have a curfew condition where she is to remain inside her residence at night. She was charged with assault and fail to comply with undertaking. She was later released with a future court date.

News Release – September 26 – 27, 2023

Arrest Made After a Break and Enter

On September 27, 2023, at about 6:30pm, police received a call regarding an unknown person entering a residence in the area of Swiftwaters Rd. The suspect entered through the garage and into the home, where they were confronted by the home owner. This startled the suspect and they attempted to leave. Moments later, officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect who was identified as a 34-year-old, male, who was intoxicated. He was held in custody until sober and released on conditions after being charged with break and enter.

 

Impaired Driving

On September 26, 2023, at about 8:30pm, police received a call regarding a male operating a vehicle on the train tracks in the area of Ormond St. Officers arrived and located the vehicle parked on the tracks between Ormond St. and Park St. There was a 30-year-old, male, alone in the vehicle. Investigation revealed that the male was intoxicated and officer’s had concern for his well-being, as he was parked on the tracks. He was placed under arrest for impaired operation and taken for further testing. Once testing was complete, it was confirmed that he was impaired by alcohol. His vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – blood alcohol over 80mg.
