June 15 – 17, 2018 Incidents

Warrants

A 31 year old male was arrested Saturday evening on the strength of his warrant for failing to attend court. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Warrants

A 20 year old male was arrested Friday afternoon in relation to an assault investigation. The original incident occurred on the 26th of May 2018. The victim was assaulted as he attempted to break up an altercation. The 20 year old male has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

 

Theft

On June 16th at 3:00 am police were called to a disturbance out front of an establishment on King St. While dealing with the disturbance an officer recognized a male that was wanted for theft from an unrelated investigation. That male was arrested for that offence and released with a future court date.

June 14, 2018 Incidents

Warrants

A 37 year old male was arrested by the OPP yesterday on our outstanding warrant for breach of probation. He was released with a future court date.

June 13, 2018 Incidents

Shoplift

On June 13th at 4:00 pm a 25 year old male attempted to leave Food Basics on Jefferson Ave. with $200 worth of groceries without making any attempt to pay. The male has been identified through CCTV footage and will now face a charge of theft and breach of probation.

 

Assault

On June 13th at 9:30 police were called to a downtown address for a domestic occurrence. A 20 year old male accused had assaulted his spouse and then her father. He was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

June 12 – 13, 2018 Incidents

Warrants

On June 12th, a 22 year old male attended the Brockville Police Service to report a theft of a cell phone. Officers are currently investigating the complaint. Unfortunately for the male he also had an outstanding warrant for fraud. He was arrested on the strength of the warrant and released with a future court date.

 

Domestic Assault/mischief

A 30 year old male is facing charges of assault and mischief stemming from a domestic investigation in the city’s south end. Officers were called to the residence yesterday around 6:00 pm and their investigation led to the charges. He has been released with a future court date.

June 11 – 12, 2018 Incidents

Warrants

A 25 year old male was arrested by the OPP on our outstanding warrants. He was turned over to our service and released with a future court date.

 

Drug Offences

Today at 11:30 am, a 27 year old male was arrested for his outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. A search incident to arrest led to the seizure of methamphetamine, morphine and heroin. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

 

June 10 – 11, 2018 Incidents

Domestic Assault

On Sunday at 2:00 pm a 23 year old female was arrested for assault and breach of probation after police were called to investigate a domestic dispute in the city’s south end. The female was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Drug offences

Our K9 officer conducted a traffic stop on Monday morning at 1:00 am. The 32 year old female driver of the vehicle fled the scene to a nearby residence. The driver was arrested shortly after the stop for possession of a controlled substance as were the two male occupants.

Our police K9 Diesel was then used for a subsequent search and discovered a quantity of cocaine. She has been charged with possession of cocaine and released with a future court date.

 

Bail violation

A 34 year old male was located at 3:00 am on June 11, 2018 on Pearl St. The male was on conditions to not be out of his residence without a surety. He was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.

 

June 9 – 10, 2018 Incidents

Traffic Stop results in drug charges

At 3 am this morning (10th) police conducted a traffic stop after receiving a driving complaint of a possible impaired driver in the center of the city. The 53 year old male driver was arrested after grounds were formed that he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood while operating a motor vehicle. His passenger, a 31 year old female, was on several release documents for a variety of drug charges and weapons charges.

She was found to be in possession of a variety of drugs including cocaine and methamphetamine.   She was arrested for drug possession.

Breath tests were performed on the driver who did not exceed the allowable limit and received drug possession charges as well as High Traffic Act charges. He has been released with a future court date. His 31 year old passenger was remanded into custody pending a bail review for June 11th, 2018.

June 8 – 9, 2018 Incidents

Suspicious Vehicle

Just after 7 am on the 8th of June in the south west end of the downtown area officers responded to a call of a vehicle and occupants acting strangely. On arrival the vehicles plates didn’t match from front to back and one was reported as stolen. Further investigation revealed that the male driver was prohibited from driving and was on a release of bail for existing charges. Both occupants were arrested for possession of stolen property. The 36 year old female was released with a future court date. The 51 year old male was held for a bail hearing.

 

Warrant for Arrest

While on foot patrol in Hardy Park of the afternoon of June 8th our very own Cst. Mark Heffernan observed a 53 year old female walking in the area that he knew had a warrant for her arrest. With a simple radio call he had support arrive and the arrest was made without incident. The woman was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing for Monday morning.

 

Impaired Driver

At 3 am on the 9th of June officers stopped a motor vehicle in the north end of the city and discovered the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and that his ability to operate the vehicle was impaired. The 24 year old male was arrested for this and after breath samples were obtained he was released with a future court date for impaired driving and over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

 

Alarm Call Results in an Arrest

At 5 am on the morning of the 9th June officers were responding to an alarm call of a north end business and observed a male walking about in the area. Upon running his name it was discovered that the 38 year old male from the Pembroke area had a warrant of committal for his arrest. He was arrested and taken to the Brockville Jail as per the order. He had no part in the reason for the alarm activating at the business.

June 7 – 8, 2018 Incidents

Bail Violations

On June 8, 2018 at 1:40 am, a 50 year old male was arrested for breaching his bail conditions. He was located at an address on Brock St. that he was not allowed to attend and communicating with persons contrary to the court order. He has been arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Dog on Roof

On June 7, 2018 at 10:40 pm our service received a call of a black Labrador retriever being stuck on a roof on King St.   The call was transferred to the Brockville Fire Department due the fact that we thought it would be similar to a cat stuck in a tree and they would be the subject experts on the matter. They did attend, but were initially unsuccessful in rescuing the dog as it kept running away from the firefighters. Officers were then dispatched to assist our fellow first responders. The owners of the dog attended and retrieved the dog prior to our arrival.

The dog had access to the roof via an open apartment window.

June 1 – 3, 2018 Incidetns

Warrants

Over the weekend, 4 separate warrants were executed. 2 males from the Ottawa area, both 39 and 40 years of age, turned themselves in to the Brockville Police Service on warrants held by our service for bail violations. Another local, 19 year old male was located and arrested during a traffic stop on a warrant for failing to attend court. The fourth was a local, 33 year old male, who was arrested by the OPP in relation to a separate incident. Brockville Police officers took custody of the male in relation to a domestic assault warrant. He was held for a bail hearing.

 

Mischief

A 50 year old, local male, has been charged with mischief under $5,000 in relation to an incident where he was in some sort of panicked state or possible drug induced psychosis. On June 3rd, 2018 at approximately 3:00a.m., police responded to a call of the above mentioned male going door to door in a neighbourhood in the South of the City. The male was panicked, suspected to be under the influence of some unknown substance, seeking shelter from a possible attack. One citizen allowed this male into his residence in hopes to assist him. Shortly after, this resident called 911 for assistance as the male began to panic further and cause damage to his property. Officers arrived on scene and shortly after took custody of the male after he climbed out and fell from a second story window. He was taken to the Brockville General Hospital for medical treatment and was issued a future court date.

 

Theft

A 33 year old male from Gananoque was arrested for theft under $5,000 from a department store in the North end of the City. The male suspect had left the story and was located nearby in the area. Once he was arrested, it was discovered that he was also in possession of break and enter tools and in possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose. He was later released with a future court date for those above mentioned offences.
