May 14 – 17, 2021 News Release

Stabbing Update

On May 10th 2021 the Brockville Police investigated a stabbing at King Street West and Apple Street where a 23-year-old male was stabbed in the abdomen by a known suspect.  The victim was transported to Kingston General Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.  Since that time the male has been released and is recovering at home.

On May 17, 2021 around 9:00 AM the 20-year-old accused male surrendered to police for the offence.  He will appear in court for a bail hearing later today.

Impaired

On May 16th at 6:23 PM the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a fail to remain traffic collision on Dana Street.  A parked vehicle had been struck and the suspect vehicle fled the scene.  The suspect vehicle was located a short distance away.  The 79-year-old male driver was spoken to in regards to the accident.  The officers detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath.  The driver failed a roadside exam and was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance and drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  The driver later provided two samples of his breath of more than twice the legal limit.  He has been charged and will appear in court at a later date.  He faces an automatic driver’s license suspension of 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Assault with a Weapon

On May 16th at 9:00 PM the Brockville Police Service responded to Garden Street between James St. and Pearl St. for reports of a 33-year-old male that had been stabbed.  The victim received several wounds to his hands and was transported to the Brockville General Hospital with non-life threatening wounds.  Two suspect reportedly had run into a residence on Garden Street.  Officers later cleared the residence with the use of the Emergency Response Team, but did not locate the suspects. 

There is no threat to the public.  The suspects and the victim are known to each other.  The assault was the result of an argument that escalated to a physical altercation.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.  Anyone with any information regarding this occurrence is asked to call the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 ext. 0 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Mischief

A 33-year-old male was arrested for mischief after officers investigated a complaint of property damage to Wall Street resident.  The original complaint occurred on May 14th at 10:00 AM when the accused damaged the front door of the residence.  Officers received another complaint about the male on 15th at 8:00 AM.  The male had returned to the residence and was asleep on the front porch.  He was arrested for the offence of mischief and released from custody with a future court date.

Bike Patrol

May 14th – 16th the Brockville Police Service had an officers on bike patrol.  The officers were focused on patrolling the Brock Trail and downtown core.  This was in response to complaints that the service has had over noise, unruly behavior on the bike path and erratic driving.  Over the weekend they issued a total of 30 tickets and warnings,

–           2 Warnings issued for stop sign/ red light violations

–           2 Warnings issued for smoking in a public park

–           2 Warnings issued for Drive with hand held communication devices

–           1 ticket and 2 Warnings for failing to surrender documents

–           1 ticket for failing to display 2 plates

–           1 summons for drive with no insurance

–           1 summons for driving while under suspension

–           2 tickets and 4 warnings for failing to wear seatbelts

–           4 tickets and 2 warnings for muffler related offences

–           2 tickets for open liquor in a public place

May 12 – 13, 2021 News Release

Fire

On the 12th of May at 11:31 AM Brockville Fire Department and the Brockville Police Service responded to a vehicle fire on Bramshot Ave.  The fire was contained to the vehicle and is not considered suspicious.  It is believed that the fire started in the back seat of the vehicle.

 

Bail Violations

On May 12th at 2:50 PM a 19-year-old male was arrested for breaching his bail conditions.  The Brockville Police Service had received a complaint that the male was not abiding by his bail conditions.  He was located by officers at Perth Street and King Street West.  The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Bail Violations

On May 12th at 3:30 PM officers located and arrested a second male for breaching his bail conditions.  The service had received a complaint about this 51-year-old male breaching his release conditions.  He was also located at Perth Street and King street West.  The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Fire

On May 12th at 4:00 PM the Brockville Fire Department(BFD) and the Brockville Police Service responded to a structure fire at Harold’s Demolition on Georgina Street.  The fire was contained to the basement and controlled by BFD.  It is unknown what caused the fire at this time.

 

Bail Violations

On May 12th at 8:30 PM officers responded to complaint of a suspicious person on Reynolds Drive.  Officers located a 30-year-old male that was breaching his bail conditions by being near a residence that he was prohibited from being at.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Public Intoxication/mischief

A 24-year-old male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.  The male was first dealt with at 9:30 PM for being intoxicated and causing issues at a residence on Buell Street.  The male was brought to his residence and left in the care of relatives.  Police then received a second call for the male shortly after 10:00 PM as he was now causing issues at that residence.  He was located a short distance away on Stuart Street and arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.  The male then caused damage to a light in the cell area of the station and is now charged with mischief.  When he was sober he was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Warrants/assault police

A 25-year-old female was arrested shortly after 1:00 AM on May 13th, 2021.  Officers were called to an apartment on Central Avenue for an unwanted person. When the officers attended the address they discovered that the female had warrants for her arrest from Brockville and the Ontario Provincial Police.  She was arrested and processed on the warrants and was going to be released with a future court date when she assaulted an officer and threatened to kill them when they were off duty.  She was then held in custody after a bail hearing.

 

May 10 – 12, 2021 News Release

Domestic

On the 11th of May just before 10:00 PM officers were called to a residence in the center of the city for a domestic dispute.  Officers arrested a 24-year-old male that was the cause for the call to police.  The male was at the residence with a 22-year-old female that he is on conditions not to be around.  The male was arrested for breaching a probation order and failing to abide by a bail condition. 

He was held in custody for a bail hearing today.

 

Theft

On May 10th at 11:00 AM the Brockville Police Service responded to the Real Canadian Superstore on Parkedale Avenue for a shoplifting complaint.  A 25-year-old Brockville resident was arrested by the loss prevention officer and turned over to police who continued the arrest for theft.  He was released at the scene with a future court date.

 

Arrest on Warrants

On May 10th at 2:30 PM a 40-year-old male from Brockville turned himself in to police for his outstanding warrant of arrest for failing to attend court.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.  At the conclusion of the bail hearing the male was released by the courts with a future court date.

On the 10th of May 2021 at 1:20 PM a 37-year-old male presented himself at the front door of the Brockville Police Service. The male was subject of an arrest warrant from 2015 for the offences of Utter Threats x3, Assault with a weapon, Assault causing bodily Harm, Assault, and Criminal Harassment. The charges were the result of a domestic incident that occurred in the city.  The male was not located at the time and had reportedly left the province until his arrest.  The male has been held in custody.

 

May 7 – 9, 2021 News Release

Indecent Act

On May 7th at 11:07 AM the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a male exposing himself and causing a disturbance by yelling and screaming.  The male was located on Glenn Wood Place and arrested.  The 19 year old accused male was charged with performing an indecent act and was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Impaired

On May the 7th at 4:30 PM the Brockville Police Service received a complaint about a possible impaired driver.  The caller had witnessed a 46 year old male exit the LCBO on King Street trying to get on a parked scooter.  The male was located in the area by officers who detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.  The officers made a roadside demand for a sample of his breath to determine the concentration of alcohol in his system.  The male refused to provide a sample.  He was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and will appear in court at a later date.  His vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

 

Traffic Complaint 

On May 8th at 8:46 PM the Brockville Police Service received a complaint from the Ontario Provincial Police about a dark coloured hatch back travelling on Highway 401 with an insecure load.  Officers located the vehicle travelling north bound and Stewart Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop.  A 50 year old female has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act for having an insecure load.  The vehicle had a load of lumber hanging out of the back of the hatch back creating a dangerous situation should any of the items have fallen out. 

Bail Violation

On May 9th at 1:40 AM an officer on routine patrol was flagged down by a citizen who reported that there was a female acting strangely on First Avenue.  The officer located a 34 year old female that was breaching a bail condition by being out past her 10:00 PM curfew.  She was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.  It appears her behaviour was caused by the use of an unknown controlled substance.

 

Drugs/wanted male Brian Workman 

On May 9th at 10:47 AM the Brockville Police Service located and arrested Brian Workman 39 year of age.

WORKMAN was wanted by the Brockville Police Service for a surety warrant for original charges of:

Failing to Comply with Probation

Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking x 4

Workman was also the subject of arrest warrants from the Ontario Provincial Police.

When he was arrested on the 9th at an apartment on King Street West he was found in possession of a large quantity of drugs including: pink fentanyl, blue fentanyl, yellow fentanyl, crack cocaine, powder cocaine and methamphetamine.  He was also found to be in possession of a replica firearm and a large quantity of cash.

He has been further charged with several counts of “possession for the purposes of trafficking in a controlled substance” and will appear in court at a later date.

 

 

Fire

On May 9th at 2:49 PM Brockville Fire and Brockville Police responded to a working fire at 773 Laurier Boulevard.  The fire had started in the kitchen and was quickly brought under control through the quick actions of the fire department.  No injuries were reported as a result and the fire that was contained to the kitchen.

 

B&E/Assault Police

On May 9th at 7:31 PM the Brockville Police Service responded to a domestic dispute that was reported as a possible break and enter.  The investigation led to grounds for arrest of a 37 year old male that had broken into his ex-partner’s residence.  He was arrested shortly after the call.  After the male’s arrest he assaulted officers and threatened to kill them after his release.  He has been held in custody for a bail hearing and is now charged with:

  • 2 counts of assaulting a peace officer
  • 2 counts of uttering a threat
  • 2 counts of mischief under $5000
  • Break and enter
  • Breach of probation
  • Failing to comply with a release order

 

Domestic Assault

On May 9th at 9:00 PM officers responded to a downtown residence in response to a domestic dispute.  A 58 year old female was charged with assault on her common law spouse.  The accused and the victim had a heated argument that resulted in the accused punching the 44 year old victim.  She suffered minor injuries as a result.  The accused was charged and released from custody with a future court date.

 

Stabbing

A 23 year old male is recovering in hospital from stab wounds that were sustained after an argument in the King Street West and Apple Street area.  Both the suspect and the victim are known to each other and there is no further threat to the public.  The suspect has not been arrested at this time. 

The investigation is continuing at this time.

 

May 6 – 7, 2021 News Release

Warrants

On May 6th at 10:00 AM officers arrested a 36 year old Brockville resident for his outstanding warrant.  The male was wanted for mischief in relation to a domestic incident that occurred on the 26th of April 2021 at 5:30 PM.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Domestic Assault

On May the 6th at 11:09 PM the Brockville Police Service responded to a domestic complaint in the city’s south end.  As a result of the investigation a 32 year old male was arrested and charged with assault, mischief and uttering threats. 

 

May 1 – 3, 2021 News Release

Focused Patrol

On the 1st of May 2021 the Brockville Police Service arranged for extra enforcement in relation to concerns in the downtown area of the City. The focus was traffic enforcement and education in relation to COVID-19 legislation. It is to note that 6 traffic infractions were discovered by officers resulting in 4 charges and 2 warnings under the Highway Traffic Act.

 

Wanted Person Arrested

On the 1st of May 2021 around 9:00AM officers from the Brockville Police Service arrested a 34 year old local female who had outstanding warrants for her arrest.  The female was arrested after officers located her in the area while attending an unrelated matter. The warrants were in relation to failing to attend court and failing to comply with probation. She was released with a future court date.

 

Disturbance

On the 2nd of May 2021 around 9:00AM the Brockville Police Service received a report of a fight in the middle of the street on Brock Street at Stewart Boulevard.  Officers arrived and the investigation revealed that one the suspects involved was a 50 year old local male. The male was in possession of a letter opener which was being held during the confrontation. This male was arrested for a possession of a weapon and breach probation. Once arrested officers located a smaller quantity of crystal meth in his possession. He was charged with possession of a weapon, crystal meth, breach probation and released with a future court date.    

 

Breach of Conditions

On the 2nd of May 2021 around 4:30PM the Brockville Police Service received a report male in contravention of his release conditions. Officers attended an address on Charles Street and located a 45 year old local male who was not to be at that address.  He was arrested and released with a future court date.

 

May 4 – 5, 2021 News Release

Suspicious Person

On May 4th at 11:16 AM officers were dispatched to Beecher Street for a suspicious male.  The caller indicated that they believed the male was in distress or under the influence of drugs.  It was reported that he was darting in front of traffic, almost being hit and was holding some sort of tool in his hand.  Officers located the 37 year old male a short distance away.  He was arrested and charged for breach of probation.  He was later released from custody with a future court date.

 

 Impaired

On the 5th of May at 3:00 AM an officer on routine patrol observed a 2010 Toyota Corolla leave the Toyota dealership on Stewart Blvd.  The officer conducted a vehicle stopped and discovered that the 18 year old driver was impaired by alcohol and had just stolen the vehicle from the lot.  He was arrested without incident and turned over to a qualified breath technician.  The male failed the breath test and has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and possession of property obtained by crime.  His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and he will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

 

Drug

On May 4th at 3:00 PM members of the Brockville Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, Emergency Response Team and the Ontario Provincial Police’s Community Response Crime Unit conducted a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act at an address on George Street.  A 54 year old male and a 42 year old female were arrested for drugs and weapons offences.  The 54 year old male was charged for the offences while the female was released unconditionally.

 

 

May 3 – 4, 2021 News Release

Impaired by Drug

On the 3rd of May 2021 around 12:00PM the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the area of Brock St. and William St. The suspect vehicle had two females in the vehicle. There was a minor collision that occurred with no injuries and only minor damage. Investigation revealed that the driver was a local, 42 year old female who was under the influence of drugs. Testing was administered and the female was arrested for driving while impaired. The drug used was determined to be Hydromorphone. She was released once sober with a future court date.

 

Wanted Person Arrested

On the 3rd of May 2021 around 4:00PM the Brockville Police Service received information from the OPP that they had located a local, 23 year old male who was wanted by the Brockville Police Service outside the City limits. The warrant was in relation to the male breaching various bail conditions. He was arrested by the OPP and turned over to the Brockville Police Service where he is being held in custody for a bail hearing for the offence of fail to comply with a Release Order.

 

April 29 – 30, 2021 News Release

Mischief

On the 29th of April 2021 around 4:00 AM person(s) unknown threw three large rocks through the storefront window of Royal Tattoo at 29 King St. West.  There was significant damage to the storefront and the rocks were located at the scene. Robbery

On the 11th of April 2021 at 2:50 PM officers were called to an apartment on King Street West for what was reported as a theft.  The investigation led to a robbery charge against a 66 year old Brockville resident.  The accused along with another unknown male approached the 57 year old victim.  They had an argument over marijuana that resulted in the accused threatening him with a knife demanding that he turn over any that he had.  The 66 year old accused was located by officers on the 29th of April and arrested.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

 

Bail Violations

On the 29th of April, 2021 at 10:00 PM the Brockville Police were contacted by an electronic monitoring corporation that is responsible for offenders wearing “ankle bracelets”.  The Recovery Science Corporation received a strap tamper alert from bracelet by a 39 year old male. The male was located by officers at an address on Buell Street and arrested for mischief and a bail violation.  He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

April 28 – 29, 2021 News Release

Warrants

On April 28th at 3:00 PM a 31 year old male that was wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was arrested by members of the Brockville Police when he was located on King Street West at Perth Street.  He was arrested without incident and turned over the OPP.

 

Fire

On the 28th of April at 10:25 PM the Brockville Fire Department along with the Brockville Police Service responded to a grass fire at the rear of 238 Ormond Street.  It is believed that the fire was possibly deliberately set and we are asking that any witnesses or if anyone has any information regarding the fire to contact the Brockville Police at 613-342-0127 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
