Impaired by Drug:

On the 15^th of July at 6:30 p.m. officers from the Brockville Police Service responded to reports of a male hunched over the steering wheel of a large tow truck.  The vehicle was in a parking lot of the Wendy’s restaurant at Parkedale Ave. and Stewart Blvd.  When officers arrived on scene they discovered that the 52 year old driver of the vehicle was impaired by drug.  The driver was from Whitby Ontario and had no idea where he was.  He was arrested for being in care and control of the motor vehicle.  A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of a small amount of what is believed to be fentanyl.  He was charged and released with a future court date.  The vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his licence suspended for 90 days. 

Theft:

On the 15^th of July at 8:30 p.m. the Brockville Police Service received a call from the Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) at the Real Canadian Superstore.  The LPO observed a 35 year old male and a 32 year old select $180 worth of merchandise and leave the store making no attempt to pay.  The suspects left in a grey pick-up truck turning on to Highway 401.  Officers then stopped that vehicle and arrested the two parties for theft.  A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of a small quantity of methamphetamine on the 32 year old female.  Both were charged with theft under $5000 and the female was also charged with being in possession of a controlled substance.

Warrants/foot pursuit:

On the 15^th of July at 10:28 p.m. an officer from the Brockville Police Service observed a wanted male in the area of King St. West and John St.  The 23 year old male had warrants for his arrest from Ottawa and Kingston.  He was also wanted by our service for a theft occurrence where he had taken an air conditioner from an apartment earlier in the week.  The male fled on foot when he realized police had located him.  A short foot pursuit led to his arrest for theft and his outstanding warrants from the other services.  He was processed on our theft charge and turned over to the Ottawa Police Service.

Assault/Domestic:

On the 14^th of July 2019 at 6:33 p.m. officers responded to calls of a female beating up a male in the parking lot of the 1000 Islands Mall.  Officers located a 29 year old female and a 34 year old male.  The female had hit the male in the head several times with a beer can and then threw it at him.  She was arrested for assault with a weapon, failing to comply with a probation order and possession of a controlled substance.  The officers had located a small quantity of methamphetamine on her at the time of her arrest.  She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Mischief/Domestic:

A 39 year old male was arrested yesterday after police were dispatched to an address in the center of the city. The male had previously been involved in a relationship with the complainant. She contacted police when she woke and discovered that her vehicle’s tires had been slashed and her property entered. The investigation led to charges of break and enter against the 39 year old.

Theft/Domestic:

On the 10^th of July 2019 officers were dispatched to the LCBO on Parkedale Ave in response a theft complaint. Video footage given to police identified a 34 year old male and a 29 year old female.

On the 11^th of July 2019 at 12:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Balmoral area for a call of a male and female involved in a heated argument. The officers arrived on scene and discovered that the two involved in the domestic dispute were the wanted parties from the theft at the LCBO. Both were arrested and charged with theft. There were not any charges as a result of the domestic incident.

Motor Vehicle Collision:

On the 10^th of July 2019 at 8:00 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision on King St. East at First Ave. A white Dodge Ram being operated by a 19 year old male east bound on King St. East collided with two motorcycles that were also traveling east bound. The 35 year old male of one motorcycle was transported to Kingston General Hospital for his injuries. His personal protective equipment likely saved his life. He was later released from hospital with minor injuries. The 32 year old female motorcyclist was transported to Brockville General Hospital for her injuries, but was also later released. The roadway was closed until shortly after 11:00 p.m. so that officers could conduct their investigation. No charges have been laid at this time as the investigation is not complete.

Warrants/Theft:

On July 8^th at 6:00 a.m. a 37 year old male was observed in the area of King St. and Perth St. The male, who was known to police, was arrested for his outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of a vehicle ownership from a local business. Officers located that vehicle at the business on King St and discovered it insecure with its contents strewn about. The male was charged with theft and released on a promise to appear with a future court date.

At 9:00 a.m. that same male was arrested at Walmart as he attempted to steal various items. The male was then held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Mischief:

On July 8^th at 10:38 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to an alarm at 27 King St. East. A 37 year old male was seen leaving the area and the description was provided to police. He was later located and charged with mischief under $5000 and released with a future court date.

Impaired:

On July 9^th at 12:36 a.m. an officer from the Brockville Police service stopped a White Toyota 4 door vehicle that was being operated on King St. at Buell St.   The officer detected signs of impairment believed to be from alcohol and arrested the 22 year old male. He subsequently provided to samples of his breath of nearly double the legal limit. He was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and he also faces an automatic 90 day licence suspension.

Theft:

A 37 year old male was arrested for shoplifting Saturday afternoon at Walmart on Parkedale Ave. The loss prevention officer observed the male selecting several items and concealing them on his person. The male was stopped by the officer when he left the store and arrested. Police were contacted and charged the male with theft under $5000 and released him at the scene on an appearance notice.

Warrant:

On Saturday July 6^th at 2:00 p.m. police received an anonymous complaint about a 49 year old male at the rear of the Metro on King St. West going through garbage dumpsters. Officers located the male and discovered that he had a warrant for his arrest that was issued on July 5^th for failing to attend court. The male was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Drugs:

On July 7^th at 2:00 a.m. officers dealt with a 19 year old male that was exposing himself to the crowd in front of the Phoenix restaurant on King St. East. The male, who was under the influence of alcohol, proceeded to pull out several pills from his pocket while speaking with police. He was arrested at that point for being in possession of ecstasy. The male was transported to the Brockville Police Service and lodged in a cell. The male then proceeded to urinate and defecate on the floor of the cell. The male then used his feces to redecorate the inside of the cell. He was further charged with mischief and later released with a future court date.

Insecure load:

On July 8, 2019 at 1:30 a.m. a transport heading south bound on North Augusta Road from Parkedale Avenue had his trailer disconnect completely. The trailer then punctured a diesel tank causing the fuel to spill into the sewer grate. All south bound traffic was blocked until the trailer could be moved. One south bound lane remains blocked while city crews clean up the spillage. The 40 year old driver has been charged with failing to maintain a log book.

In a 48 hour period from the 3^rd of July to the 5^th of July 2019, officers responded to 100 calls for service. This included 3 apprehensions under the mental health act, 6 traffic collisions, 4 theft complaints (shoplifting), domestics and an impaired.

Impaired:

On the 4^th of July 2019 a 33 year old female was stopped while operating her vehicle on Garden St. The officers stopping the vehicle detected signs of impairment by drug. The female subsequently submitted to tests conducted by a drug recognition expert to which she failed. She was charged with impaired operation by drug and possession of a controlled substance. Her vehicle was impounded for 7 days and her driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.

RIDE over weekend:

Several RIDE programs were set up over the course of the weekend, which resulted in over 200 vehicles being stopped. Several Highway traffic Act and Cannabis Act charges were laid, as well as two 3 day suspensions.

Breach of Conditions:

On the 28^th of June, 2019 at approximately 9:30pm a traffic stop was conducted on Ann Street, where one of the occupants was on a condition not to associate with the driver. A 49 year old female was arrested and released with a future court date for the offence of breach of undertaking.

Liquor License Act:

In 2 separate incidents on June 30^th, 2019 at approximately 2:00am, a 24 year old male as well as a 62 year old male were located downtown at in an intoxicated state and unable to care for themselves. Both were arrested and held till sober. They were each given a $65 fine.

Domestic:

On the 30^th of June, 2019 at approximately 6:30pm Police received a call to attend a Domestic in the North end of the city, information was is that a 23 year old female had caused a scene at a local restaurant parking lot damaging property owned by her significant other. She was arrested for assault and mischief, and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Break and Enter:

On July 1^st, 2019 a local 32 year old was arrested for breaking into a residence on Park Street, where he stole several food items and belongings from the house. He was located and arrested for the offence of break and enter was released with a future court date.

Domestic/Disqualified driver:

On the 1^st of July, 2019 at approximately 6:00pm a local couple attended the front desk of the Brockville Police station in what appeared to be a very heated argument. The 31 year old male was on conditions not to communicate with the female and was arrested for the breach, he was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The 24 year old female was observed operating his vehicle while disqualified from doing so, and she was given a future court date. The vehicle owned by the male was impounded for 45 days.

Update St. Lawrence Park Incident:

Previous: “On June 27th 2019 the Brockville Police Service responded to a call for a deceased 62 year old male in a camper at St. Lawrence Park. A 911 call was received by the service shortly after 8:00 a.m. that a male was located believed to be deceased. Officers located the deceased male inside the camper and evidence of a small fire that was contained to the camper.”

The Brockville Police Service is not treating the sudden death investigation at St. Lawrence Park as suspicious. The 62 year old local man was found deceased by a friend. The male was in a camper that was at St. Lawrence Park. He contacted police when he located the male. As with all sudden death occurrences, they are investigated to ensure no foul play. At this point we have concluded that investigation and do not believe the cause of death to be criminal.

The name of the deceased will not be released.

Sudden Death:

The Brockville Police Service and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office are conducting a joint investigation concerning an incident at St. Lawrence Park. On June 27^th 2019 the Brockville Police Service responded to a call for a deceased 62 year old male in a camper at St. Lawrence Park. A 911 call was received by the service shortly after 8:00 a.m. that a male was located believed to be deceased. Officers located the deceased male inside the camper and evidence of a small fire that was contained to the camper.

This investigation is still ongoing. More details will be released as they become available.

Active Police Investigation:

Officers are currently on scene at St. Lawrence Park conducting police investigation. There is not any danger to the public. I have very few details at this time. We are asking that the public avoid the area while officers conduct their duties.

Theft:

The Brockville Police Service is investigation a theft at the Circle K on King St. West that occurred June 26^th at 5:40 a.m. We are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect pictured below. Mischief:

On June 26^th at 5:00 p.m. a 43 year old male was arrested and charged with mischief under $5000. The male, who had been consuming alcohol, smashed out a vehicles windshield with his skateboard.
