April 4 – 5, 2019 Incidents

Motor Vehicle Collision

On the 4th of April 2019 the Brockville Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Laurier Boulevard and Stewart Boulevard. The investigation is continuing and the investigator has not determined who is at fault. The collision occurred between a south bound vehicle on Stewart Blvd. and an east bound vehicle on Laurier Blvd. The collision took place within the intersection sending the south bound vehicle into a north bound transport truck.   There were not any injuries as a result of the collision. Public Intoxication

On the 5th of April 2019 at 2:30 a.m. police were called to Executive Cab on Perth Street as an intoxicated male had entered the business and was refusing to leave. The 34 year old male was arrested by police for being intoxicated in a public place. He was held in custody until sober and released.

April 29 – 30, 2019 Incidents

Theft of Propane Tank

A 32 year old Brockville man was arrested yesterday afternoon after police received a call of a propane tank being stolen from a Brockville residence. At approximately 3:20 p.m. officers attended to a residence in the William and Pearl Street area after a witness reported seeing their neighbour’s propane tank being taken and called police.

While police were investigating the theft the man was located and arrested for the theft. It was learned he had turned the tank in at a propane exchange and received the refund.

The victim was advised of what had taken place and an agreement worked out between the involved parties. As a result the man was released unconditionally with no charges.

 

Break and Enter

Brockville Police are currently investigating a break and enter to an apartment unit in the Central Ave and Stewart Boulevard area. Just after 6:30 p.m. the resident of the apartment unit returned home to find her unit had been entered and contacted police.

When police arrived they interviewed the victim and several witnesses in regards to the break-in. Damage to the unit is believed to be only minor and a list of the missing items is not available at the present time.

Officers are continuing their investigation at the present time.

April 1 – 2, 2019 Incidents

Mental Health Apprehension

On the 1st of April 2019 at 5:30 p.m. police responded to a complaint of a possible suicidal person on the rail tracks north of Parkedale Ave. The 20 year old female was apprehended under the mental health act without incident and transported to the Brockville General Hospital.

 

Warrants

On the 1st of April 2019 shortly after 5:30 p.m. officers located a 41 year old male that had a warrant for his arrest. The male was located at the Brockville General Hospital while officers were there for another matter. The male had a warrant for his arrest stemming from a domestic assault that occurred on the 23rd of March. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Sex Assault Update

In the month of March, the Brockville Police Service arrested and charged a 68 year old delivery driver with 5 counts of Sexual Assault and 3 counts of Unlawfully in a Dwelling. This investigation currently involves multiple Victims over an extended period of time. The Brockville Police Service believes that there could be more women who have been assaulted by this same male, but have not reported it to Police.

March 29 – 31, 2019 Incidents

During the period of this report between the 29th of March, 2019 and 31st of March, 2019 at 5:00 p.m., the Brockville Police Service received 88 calls for service. 3 arrests were made, one resulting in criminal charges.

Traffic Enforcement

During this time period the Brockville Police Service setup at multiple locations to focus on speeders and other traffic related offences in identified areas of high concern. Within these areas, seven Highway Traffic Act charges were laid. One charge of concern to the community was of a local resident stopped for travelling at 91km/h in a North end, residential, 50km/h zone. The driver was identified and charged accordingly. The Brockville Police Service is committed to the safety of our roads in our community.  

BAIL

On Friday the 29th of March, 2019 shortly after 3:00 p.m., the Brockville Police Service learned of a 23 year old, local male, who was in breach of his bail conditions. He was located, arrested and held for bail for breaching his bail conditions by not residing at an approved address.

TRESPASS

On Friday the 29th of March, 2019 at approximately 10:15 p.m., the Brockville Police Service received a complaint of a nuisance, frequent trespasser in the South of the City. The suspect is a 32 year old, local male, who is known to the complainant. This male has been spoken to in the past by police and given advice and opportunity to correct his behaviour. However, on the reported date, police received multiple calls regarding this male again. He was located and arrested. He was later released with a charge under the Trespass to Property Act.  

March 28 – 29, 2019 Incidents

Mischief

On the 28th day of March 2019 at approximately 23:20 hours the Brockville Police Service responded to the Shawarma Garden located at 138 King Street West. The caller stated that there was a male subject on the rooftop who was throwing roofing material on to King Street. The items were being thrown at people that were walking on King Street. The 49 year old male was arrested for the offence of mischief and released with a future court date.

Assault

On the 28th of March at 8:30 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint of a domestic assault in the city’s north end. Through investigation it was discovered that a 30 year old male had assaulted the victim over the course of a 24 hour period that eventually led to the call to police. The male had fled the residence, but was located a short distance away by officers. The male was arrested and charged with 3 counts of assault, uttering a threat and 2 counts of breaching a bail condition. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

March 25 – 26, 2019 Incidents

Warrants

On March 25th, a 28 year old male was arrested by CBSA officers when he landed at the Ottawa International Airport. The male had a bench warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to attend court in 2017. The male had been charged with mischief and was given a court date to answer to the charge but never attended. The warrant was then issued, but the male was never located until his arrest in Ottawa.

 

Drugs/traffic stop

On March 26th at 12:17 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle off of Parkedale Avenue. The vehicle was parked in a secluded area adjacent to closed businesses. Two parties were located in the vehicle, a 32 year old female and a 35 year old male. It was discovered that the female had a warrant out of Kingston for her arrest. The male provided a false name to police, but was later identified. The male’s reason for lying was that he had multiple warrants for his arrest. Both parties were arrested and searched. Officers located a quantity of crystal methamphetamine and subsequently charged them for being in possession of a controlled substance. The male was charged with an additional count of obstructing a peace officer and was held in custody. The female was turned over to Kingston Police.

March 22 – 25, 2019 Incidents

Overview

From March 22nd 5:00 a.m. until March 25th 5:00 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to 92 calls for service that resulted in 8 arrests, 5 motor vehicle collisions, 2 break and enters and one sexual assault investigation. Four individuals were arrested for outstanding warrants and held in custody pending bail hearings.

Arrest/sex assault

The Brockville Police Service had previously reported on the arrest of a delivery driver for a sexual assault. The driver had groped a female while delivering a parcel. The 59 year old accused was arrested on March 19th and charged with a second sexual assault that was similar in nature. The accused has been released from custody with a future court date.

Domestic Assault

On Friday March 23rd at 10:47 p.m. officers responded to a north end address as neighbour’s reported what sounded like a domestic dispute. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that a 30 year old female had assaulted her common-law spouse in a dispute over illicit drugs. The female was arrested for assault and released with a future court date.

Assault

A 19 year old female is facing an assault charge in relation to an altercation that occurred Friday morning at a local business on King Street. The incident was described in Friday’s press release. She has been issued a summons to attend court. The injuries in the assault were minor.

Drugs

On the 24th of March at 10:43 p.m. officers arrested a 40 year old male that had been identified as a suspect in a theft and use of a credit card in January. The male was searched incident to arrest and officers located a small quantity of methamphetamine. The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

March 21 – 22, 2019 Incidents

Overview

In the 24 hour period from March 21st 0500 to March 22nd 0500 officers responded to 40 calls for service. 3 people were arrested for outstanding warrants, 3 motor vehicle collisions, mental health apprehensions, 2 threatening complaints and a report of theft.

Disturbance

On March 22, 2019 at 11:09 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a disturbance at a business on King Street. The two female clients at the business engaged in a physical altercation after words were exchanged between them. Police separated the parties that were involved. The matter is still being investigated at this time.

Warrants/Drugs

On the 22nd of March 2019 an officer was on general patrol driving in a marked police cruiser on King Street in the City of Brockville. The 51 year old accused, known to police, had a warrant issued for his arrest for failing to attend court.

The male was placed under arrest on the strength of that warrant. The male was then searched incident to arrest. Officers located a small quantity of methamphetamine. He was charged for being in possession of a controlled substance and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

March 19 – 21, 2019 Incidents

Overview

In the 48 hour period from March 19th 5:00 a.m. – March 21st 5:00 a.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to 60 calls for service. The calls included three apprehensions under the mental health act, 3 arrests, 3 motor vehicle collisions, missing persons and an assault investigation.

 

Bail violations

A 37 year old male was found to be breaching his bail conditions for the fifth time in ten days. The male was arrested last night when officers located him on King Street at 5:15 p.m. The male was arrested on the strength of a warrant that had been issued. A search incident to arrest led to further charges for the breach of bail conditions and possession of a controlled substance. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
