April 20 – 21, 2019 Incidents

Counterfeit

On the 21st of April 2019 at 8:20 p.m. a 36 year old male was arrested and charged with possession of counterfeit money after he tried to pay for a cab using a fake US $20 bill. He was released from custody with a future court date.

Theft

On the 20th of April 2019 at 8:20 p.m. a 32 year old male attended the Quickie on Central Ave. The male decided to steal an entire display of lighters valued at $140. The male is known to police and will be charged with theft under $5000.

Bail Violations

A 51 year old male was arrested on the 20th of April 2019 at 10:30 p.m. for being unlawfully in a dwelling and breach of probation. The male was on conditions not to attend the residence or communicate with the complainant. The male, who was heavily intoxicated, entered the residence without permission prompting the call to police. The male was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

April 17 – 18, 2019 Incidents

Update – Stabbing 13th of April 2019

Thank you for all the assistance provided regarding the person in the photo that was released yesterday. That person has been identified and spoken to in relation to this incident. We do not have any further information to release at this time.

Warrants

On the 17th of April 2019 at 9:00 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle on King St. West when they recognized the driver. The 25 year old male was wanted in relation to a “break and enter” investigation. The arresting officer was also the investigating officer in the “break and enter” investigation. The male was arrested without incident and released with a future court date.

The passenger in the vehicle, a 45 year old male, was also arrested as he had a warrant for his arrest for breaching a bail condition. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Update – Stabbing – Davison Avenue at Broadway Avenue

The Brockville Police Service continues to investigate the stabbing that occurred in the area of Davison Avenue and Broadway Avenue on the 13th of April, 2019.

Police are looking to identify the person seen in this photo.

 

Investigators believe he or she may have information that will assist in this investigation.

April 11 – 14, 2019 Incidents

RIDE

On Friday April 12th at 10:00 p.m. officers conducted a RIDE program on William St. The officers were only set up conducting the RIDE for one hour. During that time they issued one Highway Traffic Act charge, three charges under the Cannabis Control Act (for having cannabis accessible) and one 3 day suspension. The 3 day suspension is directly related to alcohol as the driver blew a “warn” on a road side screening device.

Pursuit

On April 11th, 2019 at 8:45 p.m. officers observed a 12 foot enclosed trailer being towed on a downtown street. The trailer had been reported stolen earlier in the day. Officers activated their emergency equipment and attempted to pull the vehicle over.   The vehicle did not stop and a short pursuit was initiated. The driver of the vehicle ended up stopping and fleeing the vehicle. Brockville’s K9 Diesel conducted a track and located the suspect. A 44 year old male is now facing charges of obtaining property by crime, flight from police, dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. The male had hit a pole during the pursuit.

Motor Vehicle Collision

On the 14th of April 2019 at 6:15 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Stewart Boulevard south of Laurier Boulevard. Three parties were taken to Brockville General Hospital; all with non-life threatening injuries. A 23 year old male was charged with failing to yield from a private drive.

We are still seeking witnesses to the incident that took place at Broadway and Davison Avenue.

Stabbing – Davison Avenue at Broadway Avenue

Stabbing – Davison Avenue at Broadway Avenue

A 29 year old Brockville man is in currently in hospital recovering from stab wounds, the result of an altercation late yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Broadway and Davison Avenues.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon Brockville Police received calls of a disturbance at the intersection of Broadway and Davison Avenue. Two cars were stopped in the middle of the intersection and witnesses observed a male being beaten and knocked to the ground. Witnesses came upon the scene believing it may have been a traffic collision interrupted the assault and the vehicles fled the scene.

The victim who was bleeding and holding his side made his way to a nearby residence on Davison Avenue where paramedics were called and transported the victim to hospital where he was treated for stab wounds to his mid-section and held in hospital.

Arrest – Theft from Vehicles

On the early morning hours of the 13th of April 2019 at approximately 2 o’clock officers of the night shift were responding to a domestic dispute call in the area of Ormond Street south end of town and observed two subjects in the shadows moving through residential backyards.

A foot pursuit ensued which netted the officers one of the two males. The subject arrested is well known to police and had outstanding arrest warrants. This same subject was in possession of a large duffle bag containing various property including among other items an air compressor and a laptop computer. The computer has been identified as belonging to a complainant who had his vehicle entered over night the previous evening.

We have located Karen TEDFORD in Ottawa and she is no longer considered missing.

Breach of Probation

On April 10th at 2:30 a.m. police arrested a 51 year old male for breaching his probation order by communicating with his ex-girlfriend. The accused had attended her residence prompting the call to police. The male was released from custody with a future court date.

Missing Persons

As previously released on social media, we are attempting to locate 68 year old Karen Tedford. She is described as being 5’2, 160lbs. Last seen wearing mauve fleece sweater, beige coat and black leggings and has shoulder length hair. She was last seen in Brockville three days ago. We are asking anyone that has any knowledge of her whereabouts to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127.

Missing from Brockville and released on social media yesterday, 37 year old Tim McCormick. He is described as 5’11”, 200 lbs, hazel eyes and usually has a shaved head. He was last seen in Brockville. There have been several comments on social media as to his whereabouts, but his location has not been confirmed. We are asking anyone that has any knowledge of her whereabouts to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127.

As with any missing person we are concerned for their safety.

Suspicious Person

On April 9th at 2:50 p.m. a 45 year old male was arrested after police responded to a suspicious person’s complaint on Central Ave. The complainant provided a description to police stating that the male was using intravenous drugs. The male was located and discovered to have a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court. He held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Weapons

On April 9th at 3:30 p.m. a call was received by police that a 20 year old male was at the entrance of a local business on King St. The male was observed by staff waving a knife around. Officers attend and arrested the male. A search incident to arrest lead to the discovery of the knife and a quantity of crystal methamphetamine. The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

April 7 – 8, 2019 Incidents

Assault

On the 7th of April 2019 at 3:30 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to an assault complaint at Canadian Tire on Parkedale Ave. The store manager reported that he had been assaulted by an unknown male. The manager had approached a suspect as he was leaving the store a box cutter that he had removed from the packaging. The suspect was confronted by the manager as he went to leave the store. The suspect presented the box cutter at the manager and thrust it towards him. The suspect then fled the store. The 51 year old suspect was identified by CCTV footage and is now facing charges of assault with a weapon, theft under $5000 and breach of a bail condition.

Domestic Dispute

On the 7th of April 2019 at 7:35 p.m. the Brockville Police Service responded to a Balmoral Drive residence for a domestic disturbance. As a result of the investigation a 42 year male was arrested for assault on his common law spouse. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
