Warrant – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

On this date, Police including Brockville’s Drugs and Intelligence Unit, Emergency Response Team assisted by the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act on an apartment at 206 King Street West in the City of Brockville.

The search yielded quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription medications all seized as part of the investigation.

A 46-year-old female has been arrested and held for a bail hearing on 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The Brockville Fire Department and members of the City’s Property Standards office also attended the address to conduct parallel investigations addressing any safety concerns that may exist. 

Investigations continue into ongoing complaints surrounding this address.

November 1 – 2, 2021 News Release

Fail to Comply with Probation

On November 1, 2021, a 30-year-old man had attended a residence in contravention of his court ordered probation.  Police arrested the man, without incident, for failing to comply with the condition of his probation order.  The man was released on an appearance notice with a future court date.

 

Warrants

On November 1, 2021, members of the Brockville Police Service attended to a south end residence for an unrelated matter.  During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the parties had an outstanding warrant for their arrest held by the Kingston Police.  The 20 year old man was consequently arrested on the authority of the warrant.  Members of the Kingston Police Service subsequently attended and returned the man to Kingston in order that he address the outstanding matter.

 

October 30 – November 1, 2021 News Release

Fraud and Drugs

On October 30, 2021, officers arrested a 39-year-old male for an outstanding fraud offence.  A search of the subject incident to arrest revealed him to be in possession of crystal meth, cocaine and brass knuckles.  The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

 

Domestic Dispute

On October 31, 2021, police responded to a domestic dispute in progress in the City’s south end.  The investigation resulted in a 31 year old female being arrested for numerous offences including assault, mischief and criminal harassment.  The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

 

Halloween – R.I.D.E.

 The Brockville Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E. program and pleased to report no criminal charges for impaired driving.  A total of 5 drivers were issued warnings for various highway traffic act offences.

No serious concerns related to Halloween were reported to this service.

 

October 25 – 29, 2021 News Release

Fraud Investigation

The Brockville Police Service has received multiple complaints regarding a local landscaping company. Parties have made substantial down payments for proposed work that is not completed. If you have provided a down payment to a local landscaping company and the agreed upon work was not completed, please contact Detective Constable Jamie Garvin at 613-342-0127, EXT 4248.

 

The Brockville Police Service would like to remind the residents of Brockville to remain vigilant when hiring companies they have not previously used. Reputable businesses can often provide references and examples of work previously done.  Websites such as the Better Business Bureau are also able to offer valuable insight to prospective customers.

 

Mischief

October 25, 2021 at 9:28 AM, the Brockville Police Service responded to a suspicious fire inside the public washrooms at Hardy Park.  There was minimal damage in relation to the fire and the occurrence is still under investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Cst. Warrants

October 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM, officers arrested a 26-year-old Ottawa resident when she was located in the area of Pearl Street East and Ormond Street.  Her probation officer had issued a warrant for her arrest for failing to comply with one of her conditions.  She was arrested without incident and issued a court date to answer to the charge.

 

Theft/Warrants

October 25, 2021 at 4:19 PM, officer were called to the Metro on King Street West for reports of a shoplifter.  A 35-year-old Brockville woman was arrested by the loss prevention officer for shoplifting, but when officers arrived they discovered that she had a warrant for her arrest for failing to attend court.  She was arrested for the warrant and held in custody for a bail hearing.  She was not charged for the theft.

 

Shoplifting

October 27, 2021 at 5:24 PM, officers responded to Canadian Tire on Parkedale Avenue for reports of a shoplifter.  A 49-year-old male was arrested by the loss prevention officer at the store and turned over to police.  Officer continued the arrest and charged the male for theft under $5000.  He was released at the scene with a future court date.

 

Shoplifting

October 28, 2021 at 12:14 PM, the Brockville Police Service received a call of a shoplifter that had broken away from the loss prevention officer at Canadian Tire.  The male left in an east bound direction on Parkedale Avenue heading towards the police service.  He was arrested as he approached the station for the offence of theft.  He was later released with a court date to answer to the charge of theft under $5000.

Warrant/Foot Pursuit

October 22, 2021 at 2:30 PM, an officer on routine patrol observed a 20-year-old male on King Street West.  The officer had knowledge of the existence of a warrant for the arrest of the male for breaching a bail condition.  The male attempted to make an escape on foot, but was caught by the officer.  Along with his warrant, he is now charged with resisting arrest and will appear in court today for a bail hearing. 

 

Mischief

October 22, 2021 just before 10:00 PM, officers were called to the Brockville General Hospital for a patient that was damaging one of the rooms. The male had arrived at the hospital in an intoxicated state then proceeded to kick the walls in a room.  The male has now been charged with mischief under $5000 and will appear in court at a date in the future.

 

Impaired

October 23, 2021 at 1:20 AM, a vehicle was stopped for being operated without lights on Cedar Street at Brock Street.  The 29-year-old driver was arrested at the scene for impaired operation and transported to the station for breath tests with a qualified technician.  The accused failed the test and has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and operate with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  He was released from custody with a court date in the future.

 

Weapons

On October 23, 2021 at 1020 AM, a 31-year-old Brockville resident confronted occupants of a vehicle on Bartholomew Street.  The vehicle was occupied with several people including children.  The occupants reported that the male approached asking about drugs.  They accused was known to the complainants.  They told him to get away from the vehicle a small altercation took place.  The male then produced a knife calling the occupants on to fight.  The group dispersed and police were then contacted.

On October 24, 2021 around 9:00 AM, the same 31-year-old Brockville resident was involved in an altercation where he had pulled a knife and attempted to stab another male in the area of the St. Francis Xavier Church. It was also known by police that there were grounds to arrest this male from the incident on the 23rd.   The male was located on King Street West at John Street.  He attempted to run from officers, but he was arrested after a short foot pursuit.  Officers recovered the knife along with a straight razor, cocaine, methamphetamine and cash.  He has been held in custody for a bail hearing today.  He is charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession for purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime, resist arrest, two counts of possessing stolen property and eight counts of breach probation.

 

 Fire

October 23, 2021 just after 3:00 PM, Brockville Police were called to assist Brockville Fire with a working fire at Waste Management 1380 California Ave.  The fire is not considered suspicious and was quickly controlled by the fire department.  California Avenue was closed to traffic while fire crews dealt with the blaze.

 

Mischief/threats

October 23, 2021 at 8:30 PM, officers were called to a north end apartment for a threats and mischief complaint.  The complainant indicated that a 21-year-old male had attended his residence.  When the accused was refused entry, he sent a text message threatening to stab the complainant. The accused then went to the parking lot and slashed a tire from the vehicle belonging to the complainant.  He then left the area on his bicycle. 

The accused then attend Blockhouse Island.  Officers were called after the accused had disagreement with a motorist and threw his bicycle at the vehicle.  He was located by officers and arrested for threats, mischief and two counts of breaching his probation.  He was held in custody and will appear in court today for a bail hearing.

 

Stolen vehicle recovered

October 24, 2021 at 10:55 AM, officers recovered a 2010 Ford F150 at the rear of 206 King Street West.  The vehicle was stolen sometime this weekend at a local dealership.  Officers learned of the theft while they were in the area dealing with other issues.  The investigation into the theft is considered active.

Warrant

October 21, 2021 at 12:03 PM, a 42-year-old female from Brockville was taken into custody at court for an outstanding warrant. The warrant for her arrest was issued after a domestic incident on the 19th when she allegedly assaulted her partner.  She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Warrants

October 21, 2021 at 8:24 AM, a 38-year-old Brockville resident surrendered to police for his warrant for assault and threats.  The accused was involved in a domestic dispute on October 18th. The incident had occurred in the center of the city.  The male had fled the residence on that day after a 911 call was placed by the victim.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Domestic

October 20, 2021 shortly before 11:00 PM, officers responded to domestic disturbance at a downtown residence.  An intoxicated 37-year-old male attended his ex-partners residence over a dispute about his children not attending school.  The accused then broke a window and punched his 16-year-old son in the face.  He was arrested a short distance away for the offences of failing to comply with a release condition, assault and mischief.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

October 19 – 20, 2021 News Release

Domestic

October 19, 2021 just before 7:00 AM, officers responded to a residence in the city’s south end for a domestic incident.  The investigation has resulted in charges for assault against a 42-year-old female.  The male victim was present when officers arrived and had minor injuries from the assault.  The female accused had left the area and a warrant is being requested for her arrest.  She is known to officers and is a Brockville resident.

Impaired

October 19, 2021 shortly after 8:00 PM, the Brockville Police received information that a Red GMC pickup truck was heading towards Brockville.  The complainant believed the driver of that vehicle to be impaired as it was being operated erratically.  The vehicle was located by officers and stopped on Bridle Wood Drive.  The 43-year-old driver was arrested after he failed a roadside screening device.  The accused was formally charged with operating a conveyance while impaired and operating with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol.  His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Bail violations

October 19, 2021 shortly after 11:00 PM, officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a Water Street West apartment.  Officers attended the unit where the disturbance was reported and discovered a 38-year-old male inside contrary to his release conditions.  The intoxicated male was the source of the disturbance.  He was arrested for failing to comply with a release condition.  The male was held in custody until sober and released with a new court date to answer to the charge.

Warrant/Drugs

October 20, 2021 around 3:00 AM, a 25-year-old female was arrested for an outstanding warrant when she was located by officers on Bartholomew Street.  A search incident to arrest led to another charge for being in possession of methamphetamine.  She has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

Domestic

October 17, 2021 shortly after 9:00 PM, officers responded to a domestic occurrence in the city’s center.  A 33-year-old female victim had called 911 to report being assaulted by her common-law partner.  When the call was placed the 38-year-old accused male fled the residence.  The investigation led to charges of assault and uttering a threat against the male.  On October 20, 2021 at 8:30 AM, the accused surrendered to officers and will appear in court today for a bail hearing.

Update – Pedestrian Struck:

The injured male in the pedestrian struck collision has been identified as 77-year-old John Waddington of Brockville. He is in stable condition, but remains in hospital recovering.

Charges have not been laid at this time, as the investigation is not complete.

October 14 – 15, 2021 News Release

Pedestrian Struck

October 15, 2021 at 6:47 AM, Brockville Police and paramedic responded to a pedestrian struck motor vehicle collision.  The collision occurred on Parkedale Avenue at Ormond Street and involved one motor vehicle that struck the pedestrian.  The 75-year-old pedestrian was transported to Kingston General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The Ontario Provincial Police have been contacted for their collision reconstructionist to assist with the investigation.  The intersection has been closed to traffic and will remain so until the investigation is complete.

Warrant

October 14, 2021, at 1:07 PM, an officer on routine patrol a male known to him exiting the Billy K’s Restaurant located at 329 Stewart Boulevard in the City of Brockville.  At that time, it was known to the officer that the 41-year-old male was currently a wanted person by the Brockville Police Service for a charge of harassment and failing to comply with a release order.  The incident for the harassment occurred August 17th where the accused had repeated communication with a victim.  He appeared in court on the 14th and he was remanded into custody.

Public Intoxication/mischief

October 14, 2021 at 7:47 PM, officers responded to a King Street West apartment building for a complaint of a disturbance.  The complainant, who ended up being arrested, reported that there had been some sort of disturbance.  He was intoxicated to the point that officers were concerned for his wellbeing.   He was arrested for being intoxicated in a common area and transported to the Brockville Police Service.  No real information was provided regarding his complaint.  The 52-year-old male then proceeded to urinate in the cell area refusing to use the toilet.  He now faces a charge of mischief and will appear in court at a later date.

Public Intoxication

October 15, 2021 at 1:17 AM, officers responded to a complaint of an intoxicated female on Pearl Street.  A 19-year-old female was arrested for her own safety under the Liquor Licence Act for being intoxicated in a public place.  She was released from custody when sober.

Shoplifting

October 13, 2021 at 6:30 PM, a 32-year-old male was arrested by a loss prevention officer for shoplifting at the Real Canadian Superstore.  The accused had attempted to leave the store with $250 worth of product without any attempts to pay.  He was turned over to police and charged with theft.  He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

 

Shoplifting

October 13, 2021 at 9:00 PM, officers were called back to the Real Canadian Superstore for a second time to deal with another shoplifter.  A 31-year-old male was arrested by the loss prevention officer for leaving the store with $250 worth of merchandise.  He was turned over to police who continued the arrest as the male was on a conditional sentence order and probation.  He has been held in custody and is charged with theft and breach of probation.

 

Disturb the Peace

October 14, 2021 at 3:00 AM, officers were called to a King Street West apartment for a disturbance call.  One 21-year-old male was arrested for causing a disturbance.  He was later released unconditionally.
